Humidity
Wood soaks up moisture and cracks, and condensation forms on appliances. We wrap wood and electronics in stretch film first, then blankets, and never leave pieces out in the open.
Mountain road
Whether we come via Sheikh Khalifa Road through the tunnels or via Masafi, the bends and slopes shift a load. We use more straps and keep heavy pieces low along the sides.
Distance
Fujairah to Dubai or Sharjah is a drive of hours, so we start early to finish unloading and assembly the same day when the home size allows.

Packing the home: kitchen first, then the other rooms
Kitchen
Every plate and cup is wrapped in paper, plates stand on edge in divided cartons, and heavy pots go at the bottom. Small appliances are bubble-wrapped with their cables, and the fridge is switched off the night before and dried inside so no smell or damp travels to the new home.
Wardrobes and bedrooms
Hanging clothes go into wardrobe cartons with rails, and wardrobes are dismantled with their panels wrapped in film and then corner board. Mattresses go into sealed bags, which matters more in Fujairah than elsewhere because damp gets into foam and stays there.
Children’s rooms
Each child gets a named carton with two days of clothes, school books and a favourite toy, loaded last and unloaded first. Small beds and desks are taken apart, their screws kept in bags taped to the pieces.
Living room and majlis
Sofas are film-wrapped and then blanketed, screens travel upright in thick blankets, rugs are shaken and rolled, and paintings and large mirrors go into wooden crates.

Fujairah moving-day checklist
On a long moving day between the east coast and the rest of the UAE, anything forgotten is hard to go back for. Run through this list before the crew arrives:
- Fridge off and dry since the night before; washing machine drained.
- Service lift booked at the old and new tower, if either is a tower.
- Official papers, gold, cash and family medicines in a bag that rides with you in your car.
- A first-night carton for each person, with chargers and bathroom things.
- New home location sent on WhatsApp, plus the number of whoever will meet the truck if you arrive after it.
- Roof, storeroom and garden checked so nothing is left behind.
- A photo of the final power and water meter readings at the old home.
Setting up the new home
We start with the bedrooms so the family sleeps well on the first night, then the kitchen and fridge, then the living room and majlis. Beds and wardrobes are assembled and their doors adjusted, and every carton goes to the room written on it. Before the move, register your tenancy with Fujairah Municipality and apply for power and water with Etihad Water and Electricity, so the electricity is on when the fridge arrives.

Warning: Do not accept an open truck for wooden furniture going to Fujairah, even over a short distance. Mountain road dust and coastal damp ruin wood and fabric; a closed truck is what protects your furniture all the way.
