Shipping Company from UAE to Makkah
Guide summary

Shipping from every emirate to Makkah districts and Taif: household furniture, hotel supplies, cars, goods and parcels by road from your door in about 3–5 days, with truck-entry planning and a smaller vehicle for the last stretch, or by air via Jeddah airport, plus documents and starting prices.

Most shipments from the UAE to Makkah go by truck. The truck leaves the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat, enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha, continues to Al Ahsa and Riyadh, then heads west into the Hijaz through the Taif area until it reaches Makkah. From Dubai that is roughly 1,900–2,000 km, and the trip from your door to the recipient’s door in Makkah takes about 3–5 days, customs clearance included. Urgent, light shipments fly to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, because Makkah has no cargo airport, and cover the last 80 km or so by road.

At Al Basmah International Shipping we carry to Makkah the furniture of families and employees relocating there, furniture and supplies for hotels and serviced apartments, stock for the city’s shops, cars on enclosed and open carriers, and parcels for relatives. Two things make Makkah different from Jeddah or Riyadh. Heavy trucks cannot move freely into the city centre, and the restrictions tighten in peak seasons such as Ramadan and Hajj. And many districts sit on hillsides, with climbing streets that long trailers cannot handle. This guide is built around those two points, along with the transit times, documents and starting prices you need.

Before shipping to Makkah

  • Road route: UAE → Al Ghuwaifat → Al Batha → Al Ahsa → Riyadh → Taif area → Makkah.
  • Transit: about 3–5 days door to door, clearance included.
  • Entering the city: heavy-truck movement in central Makkah is restricted, so a smaller truck may do the final leg, and we set the delivery time by district and season.
  • Peak seasons: restrictions tighten and roads fill up in Ramadan and the Hajj season, so it is better to ship before or after them.
  • Air: to Jeddah airport in 1–3 days including clearance, then by road to Makkah.
  • Prices: furniture in a shared truck starts from 90 AED per cubic metre; a sedan on an open carrier starts from 2,000 AED.
  • To book: send the details on WhatsApp +971557643821 and we’ll send you the price.

How does a shipment get from the UAE to Makkah?

By truck in most cases. Road freight takes furniture, cars and goods from door to door in one vehicle, with no waiting at a port or airport. Air and sea both end in Jeddah, because Makkah is an inland city with no seaport and no cargo airport, and the shipment then travels by road to its address. So we choose the mode by the size of the shipment and how urgent it is:

Road, door to door

The first choice for furniture, cars, goods and parcels. About 3–5 days from the UAE to any district in Makkah.

Air via Jeddah airport

For documents, samples, spare parts and light urgent goods. Lands at King Abdulaziz Airport, then goes on to Makkah.

Sea via Jeddah port

Only for large commercial containers. About 5–7 days of sailing to Jeddah Islamic Port, then clearance and road transport to Makkah.

The last stretch inside Makkah

A smaller truck or dyna when needed, where the big truck is not allowed in or the street is too tight for it.

The road route from the UAE to Makkah, stage by stage

Makkah is close to the far end of the western road from the UAE, and about two thirds of the distance lies beyond Riyadh. That is why we count the transit time from loading day rather than from the border crossing, and why we arrange the delivery slot in Makkah before the truck leaves the emirate.

  1. Preparation in the UAE: the team comes to your address, takes beds and wardrobes apart, wraps each piece with Makkah’s heat in mind, and marks every box with its number and the room it goes to.
  2. To Al Ghuwaifat: the truck drives west to the crossing at the far west of Abu Dhabi, near Al Sila. From the northern emirates that is about 4–6 hours; from Abu Dhabi city it is shorter.
  3. Al Batha and Fasah: the shipment data is submitted electronically on the Saudi customs Fasah platform, and the load may be selected for inspection before release.
  4. Al Ahsa and Riyadh: from Al Batha to Hofuf, then on to Riyadh. By this point the truck has covered roughly half the trip.
  5. West into the Hijaz: a long stretch across central Saudi Arabia to the Taif area in the highlands, where anything bound for Taif is dropped off.
  6. Down to Makkah: from the Taif area the truck descends to Makkah on the route open to truck traffic.
  7. Delivery in the district: before arrival we call the recipient, check the permitted truck hours for that district, and decide whether the truck itself goes in or the load moves to a smaller vehicle.

At every stage our team sends you an update on WhatsApp: at loading, after Al Batha and as the truck nears Makkah, so you know when to have the recipient and the house keys ready.

How long does shipping from the UAE to Makkah take?

About 3–5 days by road, from loading day in the UAE to delivery day in Makkah, with clearance at Al Batha included. The figures below are approximate: the border gets busy at times, and permitted entry hours into Makkah can add a day in the seasons:

Delivery point Mode Approximate transit
Makkah districts outside the central area (Al Shara’i, Al Awali, Al Naseem, Al Iskan, Al Kakiyah) Road, door to door 3–5 days
Districts close to central Makkah (Al Aziziyah, Al Zahir, Al Utaybiyah, Al Rusaifah) Road; a smaller vehicle may do the last stretch 3–5 days + the permitted entry slot
Hotels and warehouses in Makkah Road, dedicated truck or pallets with a receiving appointment 3–5 days, depending on the receiving schedule
Taif Road, on the same route before Makkah 3–5 days
Jeddah Road 3–5 days
Madinah Road 3–5 days
Makkah via Jeddah airport Air, then road to Makkah 1–3 days including clearance + delivery
Makkah via Jeddah Islamic Port Sea for containers, then road 5–7 days sailing + handling, clearance and haulage

A shared load may wait a few extra days until the truck heading west is full; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you set. In peak seasons we also allow for a possible delay in entering some districts, and we tell you so before you book, not after.

Truck entry into Makkah and peak seasons

This is what first-time shippers to Makkah usually don’t know. Heavy trucks are restricted from entering the city centre, the restrictions grow the closer you get to the central area, and they tighten in peak seasons such as Ramadan and Hajj, when roads are full and visitor traffic gets priority. A truck that turns up at the wrong time may wait hours at the city entrance, or be told to come back later.

So we treat a Makkah delivery as an appointment arranged in advance, not a random arrival:

  • We ask for the exact address before loading, because the district decides whether the big truck can go in or a smaller vehicle is needed.
  • We pick the delivery hour within the times trucks are allowed in that part of the city, usually early or late in the day.
  • We line up a smaller truck for the final leg when needed: the trailer parks at a suitable spot outside the restricted zone and the load moves to a 3- or 5-ton dyna that reaches the door of the home or hotel.
  • We suggest avoiding peak seasons if your dates are flexible. Moving a few weeks before Ramadan or after the Hajj season is calmer, quicker and cheaper.

Warning: If your move or your hotel fit-out is tied to a particular season, book well ahead of it. Shipments booked in the last days before Ramadan or the Hajj season are the most likely to be delayed, and the reason is not the road from the UAE but getting into the city.

Moving the load to a smaller vehicle adds a modest cost. If your address needs it, we include it in the price from the start so it doesn’t surprise you on delivery day.

The final leg: from Jeddah to Makkah

Jeddah and Makkah are about 80 km apart on an expressway, roughly an hour’s drive in normal conditions. That short stretch is the final leg for every shipment that arrives by air at King Abdulaziz International Airport or by sea at Jeddah Islamic Port: after clearance it is loaded onto a vehicle that suits its size and delivered in Makkah.

Split shipments use it too: a family living in Makkah with relatives in Jeddah, or a trader with a shop in Makkah and a warehouse in Jeddah. In that case we plan the drop order from the start and load whatever is delivered first at the back of the truck. If Jeddah itself is your destination, see our UAE to Jeddah shipping guide.

What we ship from the UAE to Makkah

Shipments to Makkah have their own character. A large share are home moves for families and employees, another share is supplies for the hospitality sector the city runs on, and the rest is shop stock, cars and parcels.

Furniture for families and employees moving to Makkah

An employee transferred to Makkah, or a family heading back after years in Dubai or Sharjah: we take the furniture apart, bag each piece’s screws with its name on the bag, wrap sofas in moving blankets and film, protect glass and mirrors with corner guards, and pack plates in divided boxes. In Makkah we ask before arrival about the number of floors, whether there is a lift and how wide the stairs are, because many buildings in the hillside districts have no service lift, and large pieces are carried up by hand or hoisted by rope from the balcony if needed.

We reassemble beds and wardrobes in Makkah if that is part of the agreement, the crew puts each box in the room written on it, and the recipient checks the items against the inventory before signing.

Goods for Makkah shops

For Makkah shops we carry abayas and clothing, perfumes, incense and registered cosmetics, household goods, gifts and gift packaging, rugs, spare parts and finishing materials. Dates and other food need to meet SFDA requirements before shipping, and so do perfumes and cosmetics. Small quantities go on pallets in a shared truck, each pallet wrapped and labelled to match the packing list.

Cars

We ship cars on an open carrier with other vehicles, the cheaper option, or on an enclosed carrier for new and luxury cars, since it keeps the paint safe from sun and dust over a road of almost 2,000 km. The wheels are strapped down, the car is photographed from every side before loading, and it is handed over in Makkah after the photos are compared. In districts the big carrier cannot enter, we deliver the car at the nearest permitted point, agreed with you in advance.

Remember the age rule: used passenger cars cannot be imported into Saudi Arabia if they are more than five years old from the model year, not counting the current year. The car must be handed to us empty of personal belongings, and any special case should be checked with our team before shipping.

Parcels and bags

A bag of clothes for a relative living in Makkah, a few boxes of books, gifts for family: they join a shared road load heading west, and small parcels by land start from 45 AED. If a parcel is urgent we fly it to Jeddah and bring it on to Makkah.

Equipment

Commercial kitchen equipment, display fridges, generators, laundry machines and small workshop machinery are fixed on wooden bases and shipped in a truck suited to their weight. Send us a photo, the dimensions and the weight, and we’ll tell you whether the unloading point in Makkah needs a crane.

Shipping hotel furniture and supplies to Makkah

Hotels and serviced apartments in Makkah refurbish their rooms all the time, and many suppliers prepare the orders in the UAE: beds and mattresses, sofas and tables, curtains, bedding and towels, kitchen and restaurant equipment, room appliances and accessories. These shipments are nothing like a home move. They are bigger, the date is tied to an opening or a season, and unloading happens at a receiving dock with fixed hours.

This is how we set up a hotel shipment:

  • Phased deliveries: instead of one huge truck that may not be allowed in, we split the order across trucks or trips by floor or wing.
  • Labels by floor and room: every carton and pallet carries the floor number and room type, so everything goes straight to its place without long sorting at the dock.
  • An appointment with receiving: we take the hotel contact and receiving hours and match them to the permitted truck hours in that district.
  • Before the season, not during it: a fit-out for Ramadan or the Hajj season must arrive well before it; delivering at the height of the season is hard and may be postponed.
  • Commercial documents: invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, a SABER certificate for products that require it, and a commercial registration for the importing party in Saudi Arabia.

Very large orders, such as fitting out a whole hotel, may work out cheaper in a sea container to Jeddah port and then by truck to Makkah, or in 12–13.6 m closed trailers to a nearby point and then smaller vehicles. Send us the order list and the target date and we’ll compare.

Districts we deliver to in Makkah

We deliver to every district in Makkah, including Al Aziziyah, Al Awali, Al Shawqiyah, Al Naseem, Al Zahir, Al Rusaifah, Al Shara’i, Al Kakiyah, Batha Quraysh, Al Nuzha, Al Utaybiyah, Al Hijrah, Al Adl and Al Iskan. But how a delivery works depends less on the district name than on the type of street and building:

Type of location What we arrange before arrival
Climbing streets on hillsides A smaller vehicle for the last stretch, extra crew for carrying, and a safe place to park on the slope
Buildings with no service lift Number of floors and stair width, and full dismantling of large pieces before carrying
Districts close to the central area Permitted truck entry hours, early delivery, and avoiding peak days
Newer residential plans and villas The villa location on the map and the recipient’s number; the truck can usually reach the door
Hotels and warehouses An appointment with receiving, a loading dock or forklift, and pallets ordered by drop sequence

Where we collect in the UAE

We have two branches, in Dubai (Deira, Port Saeed Street) and Sharjah (Industrial Area 18), and our team reaches any address in the country. Each emirate has its own guide to shipping to Makkah, with pickup areas and the distance to the border:

Air freight from the UAE to Makkah via Jeddah airport

Makkah has no airport that handles cargo, so every air shipment to the city lands at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. It leaves from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airport, arrives within 1–3 days including clearance, and we then bring it by road to your address in Makkah.

Air suits original documents needed for a procedure in Makkah, a spare part for equipment that has stopped in a hotel or restaurant, samples ahead of a big order, and light stock for a shop opening. Before you choose it, keep these points in mind:

  • Chargeable weight: actual or volumetric, whichever is higher, so a large light carton can cost more than you expect.
  • Restrictions: lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes have air restrictions and some are refused outright, which matters if you ship perfume for Makkah shops.
  • What doesn’t suit air: furniture and large appliances; road is far cheaper for them and only a few days slower.
  • Price: it varies with weight, dimensions and type of goods, so send the details on WhatsApp and we’ll send you the price.

Sea freight for containers via Jeddah Islamic Port

Sea is an option for traders, not families. The container sails from Jebel Ali or Khalifa port to Jeddah Islamic Port in about 5–7 days, is cleared through Fasah and then trucked to a warehouse in or near Makkah. It is worth comparing when the goods are heavy and in large quantities, such as building materials, ceramics or a full hotel fit-out. For household furniture, road is faster and involves less handling.

Packing for Makkah’s heat

Makkah is hot most of the year, and a shipment spends days on the road and then hours being unloaded in the sun. Heat won’t break furniture, but it spoils other things if it isn’t planned for:

  • Candles, perfumes and incense: in insulated boxes in the middle of the load, not at its edges, since heat melts wax and makes perfume leak.
  • Electronics and screens: in their original cartons or padded boxes, and not switched on right after unloading until they cool to room temperature.
  • Glossy surfaces and leather: a wrap that doesn’t stick to the surface, because film pressed directly onto leather or lacquered wood can leave marks in the heat.
  • Food and dates: not added to a furniture shipment; they travel as a separate consignment under their own rules.
  • At unloading: boxes go straight into shade or inside the building, never left on the pavement at midday, which is why we prefer early-morning or late-afternoon deliveries.

The fridge and washing machine are emptied and dried a day before loading, and medicines that need refrigeration don’t go in the shipment at all: carry them with you.

Documents for shipping from the UAE to Makkah

Clearance is electronic through Fasah: at Al Batha for road freight, and at Jeddah airport or Jeddah Islamic Port for air and sea. You don’t need to be there in person, but the paperwork must be complete before loading:

Type of shipment Documents required
Used furniture and personal effects Copy of the owner’s passport with Saudi ID, iqama or residence visa, a detailed contents list in Arabic or English, and the recipient’s name and number in Makkah
Car Registration, the export certificate and plate cancellation from RTA in Dubai or the relevant authority in your emirate, and the owner’s passport and ID
Commercial goods and hotel supplies Commercial invoice (certified when required), packing list, certificate of origin, SABER certificate for covered products, and the importer’s Saudi commercial registration
Dates, food, perfumes, cosmetics and medicines Everything listed for commercial goods, plus SFDA requirements

Used belongings of someone moving to live in Makkah are treated as personal effects once their documents are complete; new items in commercial quantities are dutiable. Goods of UAE origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty, but Saudi VAT of 15% still applies on import.

Prohibited and restricted items

  • Narcotics and psychotropic substances of any kind.
  • Alcohol and pork products.
  • Weapons and ammunition without permits.
  • Counterfeit goods and gambling tools.
  • Drones and some medicines, which need prior permits.

Warning: A single non-compliant item inside a carton or in a car’s boot can hold the whole shipment at Al Batha. If you’re unsure about something, ask us before it is packed.

Shipping prices from the UAE to Makkah

These are starting prices in UAE dirhams. The final price depends on volume, weight, the district in Makkah, packing and documents, and on whether your address needs a smaller vehicle for the last stretch:

Small parcels by land Start from 45 AED
Sedan on an open carrier Starts from 2,000 AED
SUV on an open carrier Starts from 2,750 AED

For an accurate price, send photos or a list of the items, the emirate we collect from, the district in Makkah with a map pin, and the building type and number of floors. You can also request a price from our quote page.

What decides the cost of shipping to Makkah?

  • Volume and weight: furniture is usually priced per cubic metre, heavy goods by weight.
  • Shared or dedicated: shared is cheaper but waits for a full load; dedicated leaves on your day.
  • Delivery location: a district near the central area or a hillside street may need a smaller vehicle and extra crew.
  • Season: booking in peak seasons is harder and may need extra delivery arrangements.
  • Packing: wooden crates for valuable pieces and insulated packing for sensitive ones add to the cost.
  • Assembly and documents: if you want reassembly in Makkah, or the goods need SABER or SFDA requirements.

To save: put everything into one shipment, get rid of what you won’t use before loading, accept a shared truck if your dates are flexible, and stay away from peak weeks.

Tips before shipping to Makkah

  • Plan your move outside peak seasons if you can. Quiet weeks mean easier entry into the districts and a shorter trip.
  • Give us a map pin, not just the district name; some streets in the hillside districts don’t show up by name.
  • Ask the building owner where the truck can park and about the lift before delivery day.
  • Carry passports, contracts, jewellery, daily medicines and clothes for the first days with you; the shipment may arrive after you.
  • Write the contents list carefully, and never put “miscellaneous items” on a box.
  • If the shipment is for a hotel, make it arrive before the season, not at its start.

From experience on the Makkah road: when a shipment is late there, it was usually held at the city entrance, not at the border. An entry slot arranged in advance and a smaller truck ready when needed save a full day of waiting.

Taif, Jeddah, Madinah and the Makkah region

The road to Makkah passes through the Taif area, so Taif deliveries are made on the same trip and in about the same time. Makkah to Jeddah is 80 km, so a shipment can be split between the two cities. By prior arrangement we also reach Al Jumum, Bahra, Al Kamil, Khulais, Rabigh, Al Lith and Al Qunfudhah, and Madinah, about 400 km to the north.

We also ship to any country in the world by land, sea and air, with air for urgent shipments.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from the UAE to Makkah

How long does road shipping from the UAE to Makkah take?

About 3–5 days door to door, including clearance at Al Batha. A shared load may wait a few days for the truck to fill, and in peak seasons the district entry slot can add a day.

How far is Dubai from Makkah by truck?

Roughly 1,900–2,000 km via Al Ghuwaifat, Al Batha, Al Ahsa, Riyadh and the Taif area. From Abu Dhabi and Al Ain it is a little less, as they are closer to the border.

Can the truck enter every district in Makkah?

Not always. Heavy-truck movement is restricted in the city centre, and some hillside streets are too narrow. In those cases the load moves to a smaller vehicle that reaches the door, and we include that in the price from the start.

Can I ship to Makkah during Ramadan or the Hajj season?

Yes, but truck restrictions tighten and roads are crowded, so delivery needs closer planning and may be delayed. If your dates are flexible, we recommend shipping before or after these seasons.

Is there direct air freight to Makkah?

No, Makkah has no cargo airport. Air shipments land at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah within 1–3 days including clearance, and we bring them on to Makkah by road.

Do you ship hotel furniture and supplies?

Yes. We split the order into phases, label cartons by floor and room, coordinate with the hotel’s receiving team, and ask for complete commercial documents with a SABER certificate for covered products.

How much does it cost to move furniture from the UAE to Makkah?

In a shared truck it starts from 90 AED per cubic metre. The final price depends on volume, district, packing and assembly, so send photos or a list on WhatsApp and we’ll send you the price.

How do I know where my shipment is?

You don’t need to chase it: our team messages you on WhatsApp at loading, after crossing Al Batha and as the truck nears Makkah, and calls the recipient before delivery. WhatsApp messages to +971557643821 are answered around the clock.

Moving to Makkah or fitting out a hotel there?

Tell us what you’re shipping and the district in Makkah or Taif, and we’ll reply with the price, transit time, documents and the delivery arrangement that suits your address.
