If you live in an apartment in Ajman and want to send your belongings to Algeria without paying for a whole container, the usual answer is a shared sea shipment (LCL): you are charged per cubic metre, so you pay only for the space your cartons, suitcases, TV and mattress take up in a container shared with other customers. The container leaves Sharjah port or Jebel Ali for Skikda, Annaba or Algiers in roughly five to seven weeks, and your things then reach Constantine or any province. Al Basmah International Shipping is a shipping company from Ajman to Algeria; we collect from your Ajman apartment, our nearest branch is in Sharjah Industrial Area 18, and orders come in on WhatsApp +971557643821 around the clock. Send the details on WhatsApp and you will get the price.

Your part-load to Algeria
- You pay per cubic metre: the more evenly sized your cartons, the smaller the volume and the lower the cost.
- A shared shipment usually suits roughly 2 to 15 m³ of belongings; above that a 20 ft container may work out cheaper.
- A detailed contents list written with you carton by carton, which is the basis for clearance in Algeria.
- The TV, mattress and suitcases each get their own packing, explained below.
- Delivery in Constantine allows for steep streets and buildings without lifts; sedans go by RoRo after an eligibility check.
Is a shared shipment right for your apartment?
Shared (consolidated, or LCL) shipping suits most apartment residents in Ajman: a student who has finished studying, an employee going home ahead of the family, or a small family that sold the big furniture and wants to send the light things that matter to them. The rule is simple: if your belongings fill less than half of a 20 ft container, shared shipping is usually cheaper. If it is a full apartment with bedrooms and kitchen, compare it with a full container.
| Type of shipment | Approximate volume | Usually the best option |
|---|---|---|
| Suitcases and a few cartons for one person | 1–3 m³ | Shared shipment, or air for urgent items only |
| Studio or one room with a TV and mattress | 3–7 m³ | Shared sea shipment |
| One-bedroom apartment without big furniture | 7–15 m³ | Shared, or a 20 ft depending on price |
| Full apartment with furniture | Over 15 m³ | 20 ft container or larger |
The volumes in the table are estimates, because the real volume changes with the packing. That is why we ask for photos of the rooms or a list of items, so we can work out the volume before giving you the price.
What do we ship from Ajman to Algeria?
From Ajman to Algeria we ship personal and apartment belongings of every kind, used household appliances, sedans once their entry conditions are checked, and urgent parcels by air. Most Ajman requests come from apartments in the Corniche, Al Nuaimiya and Al Rashidiya towers: the things of a family or one person that do not need a full container.
- Clothes, shoes, bedding and blankets in cartons or sealed bags.
- Large, full suitcases, shipped as they are after plastic wrapping.
- TVs and screens in their original boxes or in light wooden crates.
- The mattress and pillows wrapped in a thick plastic cover.
- Kitchenware and glass sets wrapped piece by piece.
- The washing machine, small fridge and microwave, usually one appliance of each type.
- Books, children’s toys, bicycles and strollers.
- A sedan by RoRo or in a container, after its eligibility is checked.
One person going home
Two suitcases, a few cartons and a TV, in a shared shipment of roughly one or two cubic metres.
A small family
Kitchen and clothing cartons, small appliances and a mattress, without the large furniture sold in Ajman.
Going ahead of the family
Send part of the belongings now and the rest later, keeping in mind that the returning-citizen exemption is usually one time only.

Where do we collect in Ajman?
We collect from every area of Ajman, from tower apartments and villas, and send workers up to the floor when needed. If your building requires a lift booking or management permission for moving, let us know before the appointment so we come at the allowed time.
- Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya and the Corniche towers.
- Al Jurf, Al Rawda, Al Hamidiya, Al Mowaihat, Al Zahra and Al Nakhil.
- Emirates City, Al Yasmeen, Al Helio and Al Alia.
- Ajman Free Zone and the Al Jurf industrial area.
- We also collect from Sharjah and Dubai if your things are in more than one place.
If you live close to Sharjah you can also bring your suitcases and cartons to our branch in Industrial Area 18 yourself; we weigh and measure them in front of you and write the list with you.
Packing apartment belongings piece by piece
In a shared shipment your cartons are handled several times: from the apartment to the warehouse, into the container with other shipments, to the unloading warehouse in Algeria, then to your home. So packing needs more care than in a full container.
- Cartons: double-wall, in similar sizes so they stack without gaps, and no heavier than one person can lift easily.
- Suitcases: locked and plastic-wrapped, labelled with your name and their number on the list. Do not put original documents, cash or gold inside.
- TV: in its original box if you have it, otherwise in a padded crate with screen protection, marked “Fragile – this way up”.
- Mattress: a thick, sealed plastic cover, then cardboard on the edges so it does not tear when stacked.
- Glassware: bubble wrap for each piece, packed in small cartons rather than big ones.
- Appliances: drain and dry the fridge and washing machine a day before packing.
Number every carton and suitcase and write the same number on the contents list. On delivery in Constantine you count the numbers and know straight away if anything is missing.
The contents list: a paper you cannot skip
The contents list is the most important paper in a personal-effects shipment. Algerian customs compares what is in the cartons with what is on the list, and any item not listed can be held or charged. We write it with you while packing, carton by carton, listing appliances by brand, model and serial number.
- The number and type of every package: carton, suitcase, TV box, mattress.
- Clear contents: “women’s clothing”, “kitchenware”, not “miscellaneous items”.
- Electrical appliances by brand, model and serial number.
- A reasonable estimated value for used belongings.
- For someone returning for good, the list is usually required in French and stamped by the Algerian consulate; the team confirms the format your case needs.
The sea route from Ajman to Algeria
Shipping to Algeria goes by sea or air; there is no practical road route. Your belongings are consolidated in our warehouse with other shipments heading to Algeria, then loaded into a container leaving Sharjah port or Jebel Ali, which crosses the Red Sea, the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean, and often calls at a transhipment port before reaching an Algerian port.
- Pickup from your Ajman apartment, weighing, measuring and writing the list.
- Waiting at the warehouse until the shared container is full, which is why LCL takes longer than FCL.
- Loading, sealing and UAE export clearance.
- Sailing and transhipment, with updates sent to you on WhatsApp.
- Arrival at the Algerian port, unloading of the shared container, then clearance in your name.
- Trucking to Constantine or your province.
For Constantine and the east, arrival is usually at Skikda or Annaba, which are closer, and sometimes at Algiers if the shared container is bound there. We tell you the arrival port at booking.
Transit time from Ajman to Algeria
A shared shipment takes roughly five to seven weeks to the port, because it waits for the container to fill and is unloaded in Algeria together with other cargo. A full container is a little faster, and air takes only days. All times are approximate.
| Method | Approximate time | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sea – shared (LCL) | About 5–7 weeks + clearance | Apartment belongings, cartons and suitcases | Priced per m³, needs good packing |
| Sea – full container (FCL) | 4–6 weeks port to port | A full apartment with furniture | Loaded outside your building and sealed |
| Air | About 3–6 days door to door | An urgent suitcase, documents, small gifts | Actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher |
Air freight from Ajman to Algeria
Air freight from Ajman to Algeria is for things that cannot wait: a suitcase of clothes you need on arrival, original papers, personal medicines with their prescription, or a small gift. The shipment leaves Sharjah airport, the closest to Ajman, or Dubai, for Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport or Constantine airport, in roughly three to six days door to door.
- Price is on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.
- A 70 × 50 × 30 cm suitcase has a volumetric weight of about 17.5 kg even if it actually weighs less.
- Furniture, mattresses and large appliances do not suit air; sea is far cheaper for them.
- Lithium batteries, perfumes and liquids are restricted on air, so keep them out of the air suitcase.

Documents you need
Personal effects and returning for good
An Algerian citizen returning for good after living abroad can usually bring in used household goods with a one-time customs exemption under the change-of-residence procedure. The usual documents are a change-of-residence certificate from the Algerian consulate in the UAE, a certificate of removal from the consular register, a detailed, stamped contents list, copies of the Algerian passport and consular card, and arrival within a set period after returning. Customs usually asks for you, or an agent on your behalf, to attend the inspection. The team checks your case before booking.
If you are sending things without moving back for good, for example clothes and gifts for your family, the shipment does not benefit from the exemption, and duties are assessed on its value and type.
Cars
Algeria lets resident citizens import used passenger cars under conditions, the best known being that the car is no more than three years old, for personal use and no more than once every three years, with engine, environmental and payment conditions. A sedan usually travels by RoRo, driven onto the vessel, and we do not book it until the team has checked its eligibility and full cost.

Prohibited and restricted items
- Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, toy weapons, fireworks.
- Gold, jewellery and cash do not go in shipped cartons or suitcases.
- Restricted, needing authorisation: drones, radio equipment, some electronics, medicines in large quantities, plants and animals.
- New appliances in large numbers are treated as commercial goods, not personal effects.
Warning: Do not put two new appliances of the same type in a personal shipment, and do not hide anything among the clothes. One item missing from the list can delay clearance of the whole shipment.
Shipping prices from Ajman to Algeria
In a shared shipment the price starts from the volume of your belongings in cubic metres, with packing and inland transport in Algeria added on top. Send the details on WhatsApp and you will get the price: photos of the rooms or a list of items, the number of cartons and suitcases, your area in Ajman and the province in Algeria. You can also fill in the quote request page. On insurance, ask the team about optional insurance.
What decides the price?
| Factor | How it affects the price |
|---|---|
| Shared, full container or air | Shared is per m³, a full container has a box price, air is per kilo. |
| Volume of belongings | Every extra cubic metre is charged; good packing reduces empty space. |
| Container size if full | A 20 ft holds about 33 m³, a 40 ft about 67 m³. |
| Arrival port and province | Skikda or Annaba are closer to Constantine; inland trucking is by distance. |
| Packing | The TV box, mattress cover and glassware need extra materials. |
| Floor and lift | Carrying without a lift in Ajman or Constantine needs more workers. |
| Documents | A definitive-return shipment with its exemption differs from ordinary parcels. |
| Car | RoRo or container, after the eligibility check. |

Delivery in Constantine and the other provinces
Constantine is built on rock, crossed by bridges and steep streets, and many of its older buildings have no lifts. So delivery there works differently: we unload from the large truck at an accessible point, then move the belongings by small truck to the building door. In newer districts such as Ali Mendjeli or El Khroub access is easier, while the old centre and Sidi Mabrouk need the appointment arranged in advance.

| Region | Usual arrival port | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Algiers and Blida | Port of Algiers | Steep streets in El Biar, Hydra and Ben Aknoun |
| Oran and Tlemcen | Port of Oran | Oran airport for air freight |
| Constantine and Setif | Skikda, Bejaia or Annaba | Constantine’s slopes sometimes need a small truck |
| Annaba | Port of Annaba | Close to the eastern border |
| Bejaia and Tizi Ouzou | Port of Bejaia or Algiers | Mountain villages need a booked appointment |
| The south: Biskra, Batna and beyond | Skikda or Algiers, then road transport | Extra days for the inland leg |
Algiers is similar: districts such as El Biar, Hydra and Kouba have narrow, steep streets, while Bab Ezzouar, Cheraga and Dely Ibrahim are easier for trucks.
Tips for shipping an apartment
- Clear out what you do not need before shipping: every cubic metre less means a lower price.
- Do not ship large, cheap furniture; shipping it can cost more than buying the same in Algeria.
- Carry original documents, jewellery and medicines you need for the first weeks on the plane.
- Photograph appliances working before they are packed.
- If you have commercial goods with your belongings, keep them separate: the Sharjah to Algeria guide explains importer paperwork.
- For the full picture from every emirate see the UAE to Algeria guide, and if your things are in Dubai, the details are in shipping from Dubai to Algeria.
