Abu Dhabi is the emirate closest to Saudi Arabia and the largest by area, with three far-apart regions: the capital and its islands, Al Ain to the east, and Al Dhafra stretching west to the border. So a furniture move here takes one of three shapes: a move within the island and suburbs, a long run to Dubai and the northern emirates, or a direct road move into the Kingdom through Al Ghuwaifat. Al Basmah International Shipping handles all three with closed box trucks and a crew that dismantles, packs and reassembles. Send photos of your furniture and the destination on WhatsApp at +971557643821 to get the route and price, then a series of updates until delivery.

Your Furniture’s Road from Abu Dhabi
- Within the emirate: from Abu Dhabi island and Al Reem to Khalifa City and Al Shamkha, and on to Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
- Northbound: Dubai in about 1 h 30, Sharjah in about two hours, Ras Al Khaimah in two to two and a half.
- To Saudi Arabia: the shortest route in the country, about three and a half hours to Al Ghuwaifat.
- A one-bedroom move starts from AED 1,100; abroad and long distances are priced on WhatsApp.
- Sea from Khalifa Port for distant destinations, air for light urgent items.
Three kinds of distance inside Abu Dhabi emirate
Someone living in Al Khalidiya and moving to Mohammed Bin Zayed City crosses a bridge and covers about 30 km: an ordinary local move. Moving from the capital to Al Ain, though still inside the same emirate, is a 160 km trip. And a move to Ruwais or Ghayathi in Al Dhafra comes close to 250 km or more. Those differences change the packing, the crew size and the departure time, which is why we ask for both addresses precisely before giving any price.
Island and suburbs
A normal day move, timed around traffic on the Sheikh Zayed and Al Maqta bridges.
Capital ⇄ Al Ain
1 h 30 to 1 h 45 on the road, with long-distance packing.
Capital ⇄ Al Dhafra
Madinat Zayed, Mirfa, Ruwais and Ghayathi: long runs, often for families working in the Western Region.
Abu Dhabi ⇄ abroad
Al Ghuwaifat for Saudi Arabia and on to Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait; Khalifa Port for sea freight.

Distance table from Abu Dhabi
Distances are approximate from central Abu Dhabi, and drive times are for a moving truck on the highways. Starting from Mohammed Bin Zayed City or Al Shamkha saves about a quarter of an hour towards Dubai and Al Ain.
| Destination | Approx. distance | Approx. drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai | 140 km | about 1 h 30 min |
| Al Ain | 160 km | 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 min |
| Sharjah | 170 km | about 2 h |
| Ajman | 180 km | about 2 h |
| Ras Al Khaimah | 250 km | 2 – 2 h 30 min |
| Fujairah | 260 km | 2 h 30 – 3 h |
| Ruwais | 240 km | about 2 h 30 min |
| Al Ghuwaifat border | 340–350 km | about 3 h 30 min |
| Riyadh | 850–900 km | a full day on the road, including border formalities |

A move from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah runs almost the full length of the country and passes through Dubai, so we start very early or after mid-afternoon to keep the truck out of Dubai’s rush. With a large house, loading on day one and delivering the next morning is often the better plan.
How we work: from the first photo to the last screw
- You send on WhatsApp your Abu Dhabi district and destination, the home type, and whether the building has a service lift.
- The team asks for a short video of the rooms or photos of the big pieces to estimate the volume.
- You receive the price and date options, and fix the day once the move permit is confirmed.
- The crew arrives with the truck and materials, dismantles beds and wardrobes and packs everything in place.
- The truck is loaded, rows are strapped, and you get a departure message.
- On arrival the box is unloaded, furniture is reassembled and empty cartons are taken away if you ask.

Packing for the desert road
The western road to Al Dhafra and Al Ghuwaifat is long and exposed, a closed box gets very hot in summer, and dust finds any gap. What we do:
- Two layers: a thick moving blanket, then film pulled tight over every edge.
- Candles, perfumes and cosmetics go in their own carton away from fabrics, since they can melt.
- Mattresses go in fully sealed plastic bags.
- Marble and glass travel in wooden crates, especially on shipments to Saudi Arabia.
- Cartons are numbered and marked with the room name and which way is up.
From Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf
This is the route where Abu Dhabi has the edge: the truck heads west on the highway through Al Dhafra, reaches the Al Ghuwaifat border in about three and a half hours, and enters the Kingdom at Al Batha. From there it carries on to Riyadh, Al Ahsa or Dammam, and on to Qatar via Salwa, to Bahrain over the King Fahd Causeway, or north to Kuwait. If you are heading to the Saudi capital, see our UAE to Riyadh shipping guide.

Exit documents to prepare in advance
- Passport and Emirates ID copies.
- Valid residence in the destination country; used household goods are normally cleared in a resident’s name.
- An inventory of cartons and pieces, which we prepare with you during packing and send to you on WhatsApp.
- The receiver’s name, number and address.
For countries the road does not reach, such as Egypt, India or Europe, furniture goes in a sea container from Khalifa Port after full export packing.
For Oman, the nearest route from the capital goes through Al Ain and one of the crossings near it; the team picks the crossing according to the Omani city you are moving to.
Capital offices and pieces that need lifting gear
Company offices in Musaffah and the free zones often move to Dubai or the other way. We schedule these in the evening or on a weekend, disconnect computers and pack them in cartons numbered with each user’s name, and move the archive in sealed boxes in the same order. In large villas, a steel safe, a piano or a heavy marble table needs straps, a hand lift and at least four crew members, and it is planned before moving day, not during it.
What flies from Abu Dhabi
Light cartons you need as soon as you land go by air: documents, a few days’ medicines, clothes, small devices. The furniture itself is not flown because of the cost, so it follows by road or sea.

Six things that move your Abu Dhabi price
| Factor | Detail |
|---|---|
| Volume | The number of rooms and bulky pieces such as full bedroom sets and majlis seating. |
| Floors and lifts | A tower on Al Reem with a service lift is quicker than a walk-up in Al Bateen. |
| Distance | Within the island, to Al Ain, to Al Dhafra, or across the border. |
| Packing | Standard, double for the long road, or export with wooden crates. |
| Dismantling and assembly | Built-in dressing rooms, kitchens and large beds. |
| Timing | Peak days and month-ends; office moves outside working hours. |
| Permits and parking | Community fees and how far the truck must park from the entrance. |
Tips from the road
- If your new home is in Al Dhafra or Al Ain, remember the crew needs time to drive back, so ask for a morning slot.
- Large villas in Khalifa City and Al Shamkha are sometimes split across two trucks; that is normal.
- When handover of the new home is delayed, put the furniture in furniture storage in Abu Dhabi rather than moving it twice.
- Ask about optional insurance before a cross-border shipment.
Warning: Do not pack anything that is restricted in Saudi Arabia, and no radio devices of unclear use, in a shipment bound for the Kingdom. Ask the team for the list before sealing cartons, because opening them at the border delays the crossing.
To plan a whole-home move in the capital, see home movers in Abu Dhabi; for dismantling and assembling particular pieces, see furniture movers in Abu Dhabi. Routes between all the emirates are covered in furniture moving in and out of the UAE.
FAQ: shipping furniture from Abu Dhabi
How long does a furniture truck take from Abu Dhabi to Al Ghuwaifat?
About three and a half hours from the city centre, then the crossing formalities. That makes Abu Dhabi the best starting point for Saudi Arabia.
Is a move from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain a local move?
It stays inside the emirate, but it is a fairly long trip, so it is packed and priced as a distance move. Send both addresses for a price.
Do you serve Ruwais, Madinat Zayed and Ghayathi?
Yes, to and from Al Dhafra, with morning slots because of the long road.
Can furniture go from Abu Dhabi to Qatar or Bahrain?
Yes, by road through Saudi Arabia. You need an inventory and residence papers for the destination country.
How long is the move from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah?
Two to two and a half hours on the road, more if the truck passes Dubai at peak time.
How will I know where my shipment is?
The team messages you on WhatsApp at loading, at departure and on arrival or after the border.
Do you move offices from Musaffah to Dubai?
Yes, after hours or at the weekend, with every piece numbered to the new floor plan.
