We store Abu Dhabi villa furniture as it is: majlis sets with their sofas and cushions, carpets rolled onto dedicated racks, bedrooms dismantled and wrapped, appliances dried out. We collect from your home in Khalifa City, Al Shamkha, Al Reem Island or any other area, send you a photo inventory on WhatsApp, and keep everything on raised pallets in ventilated warehouses until you are back from travelling or the renovation is finished. Rent is monthly, starting from AED 1,850 for the contents of a three-bedroom home and from AED 135 for a small space that holds a few items.

Storing your Abu Dhabi home
- Majlis: sofas, cushions and tables in cloth covers, stored with nothing heavy on top.
- Carpets: cleaned beforehand, rolled on a tube, bagged in a breathable cover, laid flat on a rack.
- Families travelling for the summer: we collect before you fly and deliver after you return.
- Villa renovation: we store room by room as the contractor progresses.
- Photo inventory on WhatsApp, and visits to your things by appointment.
Why Abu Dhabi villa furniture needs a different storage plan
A family villa in Abu Dhabi is not just a big flat. It may have a men’s majlis and sometimes a separate one for women, a family living room, bedrooms with wide wardrobes, a dining table for ten, a carpet in almost every room, and garden furniture and shades. The volume equals two or three flats, and the materials differ: majlis fabric needs different handling from bedroom timber, and carpets need racks that do not suit boxes.
So in Abu Dhabi we start with a video walk-through covering every room, the outdoor store and the roof if anything is kept there, and we count the majlis pieces and carpets separately. The number and sizes of carpets set the rack space, and the number of majlis pieces sets how many cloth covers we bring.
Storing a majlis without losing its shape
For many families the majlis is the most valuable furniture in the house, and it is the most easily damaged by poor storage: cushion foam flattens under months of weight, velvet stains when trapped under plastic in the heat, and gilded wooden frames scratch at the first rub.
- Back and arm cushions: each in a clean cloth bag, stored upright or in a single row with no heavy stacking.
- Majlis sofas: a breathable cloth cover, then corner guards on the wooden frame.
- Centre and side tables: glass tops removed and wrapped separately, legs wrapped in foam.
- Incense burners, dallahs and serving sets: wrapped in soft paper and packed in small boxes marked “majlis”.
Floor majlis: mattresses, backrests and cushions
Some homes prefer traditional floor seating with long mattresses, backrests and cushions. These pieces are light but bulky, and they absorb moisture and smells quickly. Each mattress goes into a cloth bag and they are laid flat in low stacks, while backrests and cushions go into large ventilated boxes rather than nylon bags. If the set has special upholstery or hand embroidery, tell us so we can keep it apart.
Photograph the assembled majlis from two angles before wrapping. On delivery the crew sets it up exactly as it was, and a photo is quicker than any explanation.
Storing carpets: rolling, bagging and carpet racks
Handmade and wool carpets in particular need more than being rolled up and left in a corner. Three things threaten them in storage: moths if they go in dirty, cracking if they are folded, and bending if they stand on end for months.

- Clean first: have carpets cleaned by a carpet laundry before collection and make sure they are fully dry; food and sweat residue in the pile is what attracts moths.
- Roll, never fold: each carpet is rolled around a rigid cardboard tube in the direction of the pile, so knots do not crack and no lines appear.
- Bagging: a cloth bag or breathable wrap keeps dust off without trapping moisture, with a label giving size and room.
- Carpet racks: rolled carpets lie flat on dedicated steel racks, never standing upright or under boxes.
Mention silk carpets and rare pieces during the survey; we wrap them separately and place them on the top rack, away from traffic. On return, each carpet is laid out in place and left for a day or two before heavy furniture goes on it, so the pile straightens and the roll marks fade.
Families travelling for the summer
Many Abu Dhabi families travel for two or three months in summer, and some have a villa lease ending before they leave or want to hand it back and rent another on return. Storage saves the rent for the months away and removes the worry of a locked house in the heat. We collect a few days before your flight and agree on a delivery date to the new home after you are back.
When should you book? The weeks before the summer holidays and right after the school year ends are the busiest, because many families fly on the same days. Message us early so collection is fixed at least three days before your flight; that leaves a day to clean the house and hand over keys, and a spare day if something needs to move. On your way back, send your arrival date a week ahead so the crew can prepare your rows and set the delivery day.
Pre-travel checklist
- Decide what travels with you and what goes into storage, and keep suitcases in one room so they are not wrapped by mistake.
- Empty fridges and freezers two days ahead; villas often have more than one.
- Clear the pantry: rice, dates and spices do not enter the warehouse.
- Leave us the number of a relative or driver in Abu Dhabi in case we need to coordinate while you are away.
Storage during a villa renovation
Villa renovations rarely cover every room at once, so we offer storage in stages: ground-floor furniture first when the contractor starts on the floors, then the first-floor rooms when the painters reach them. As each stage finishes we can bring its furniture back if you wish. This needs coordination with the contractor’s schedule, so send it to us at the start.
Other reasons people store in Abu Dhabi
- Between homes: one villa handed back and the next not yet ready.
- Leaving the UAE: storage until the shipping destination is settled.
- Office and shop stock: office furniture in Musaffah or dry shop stock with nowhere to go.
- Students: a student at an Abu Dhabi university storing room contents over the break.
Garden furniture, shades and children’s play equipment
Abu Dhabi villas often have an outdoor seating area, a barbecue table, shades, sometimes a winter tent and large play equipment such as swings and slides. These items carry sand and dust, and if they go into the warehouse as they are, they spread it to everything nearby. Wash them the day before collection; we dismantle swings and shades and tie the parts together with numbers. Outdoor fabric and waterproof cushions are dried completely and then folded into boxes, and metal furniture gets a layer that stops it rubbing against other pieces.
How we arrange a villa’s contents inside the warehouse
One villa can fill several rows, and if it were stacked at random, taking out one bedroom would mean moving the whole majlis. So before collection we ask about the order in which you expect things back and stack accordingly: first-needed items at the front, carpets on their own rack, majlis pieces in a row with nothing on top, and boxes grouped by room. Each row number is recorded in the inventory you receive, so you can request items by number knowing we can reach them easily.
What we accept in the warehouse and what we refuse
We accept villa, flat and office furniture, majlis sets, carpets, appliances, clean garden furniture, boxes and bicycles. We refuse food including dates and green coffee beans, liquids and oils, cleaning products and pesticides, gas cylinders, charcoal and anything flammable, cash, gold and original documents, live plants, and weapons or hunting gear with ammunition.
Warning: Charcoal and barbecue gas cylinders are among the things most often forgotten in villa outdoor stores. Check the store and the garden before the crew arrives, because these items do not go on the truck.
Steps to store villa furniture in Abu Dhabi
- Video walk-through: every room, the store and the garden, with the majlis pieces and carpets counted.
- Price and date: collection and packing cost, monthly rent, and a date that fits your travel or the contractor’s plan.
- Collection: a crew sized for the villa and closed trucks, starting with carpets and large pieces.
- Packing: cloth covers for the majlis, tubes and bags for carpets, bedrooms dismantled.
- Inventory: numbered photos of every piece, carpet and box on WhatsApp.
- Storage: raised pallets, steel racks and flat carpet racks.
- Return: all at once or in stages to the address you choose.
Wrapping bedrooms and appliances before storage
Villa bedrooms are usually heavy timber with wide wardrobes that only leave the room in pieces. We dismantle them, number the panels and hinges, and store large mirrors upright between sheets of rigid cardboard.

- Thick mattress bags for every mattress.
- Corner guards on every timber panel and headboard.
- Silica packs in drawers and in boxes of clothes and shoes.
- Fridges and washing machines fully dried with doors secured.
- Garden furniture washed and dried before wrapping so sand and dust do not spread to everything else.
Ventilated warehouses and storage conditions in the Abu Dhabi heat
Abu Dhabi’s summer heat and coastal humidity make ventilation more important than anything else. Moving air stops moisture settling on wood and fabric, raised pallets keep furniture off the floor, regular spraying keeps pests away, and banning food removes the reason they would appear in the first place.

If you want to see your things, visits are by appointment and the crew brings out the pieces you want to check. For valuable items, ask the team about optional insurance before collection.

Bringing furniture back after travel or renovation
Families back from travelling usually ask for delivery in two rounds: bedrooms and kitchen on the first day, then the majlis and carpets once the house has been cleaned. Send the item numbers from the inventory, and we agree the timing with you and the crew.

The crew assembles the bedrooms, lays the carpets in place, sets up the majlis from the photo you took, and takes the packing away. If the new villa is in another area or another emirate, see home movers in Abu Dhabi.
From Abu Dhabi to another country: shipping stored furniture
If you decide to move abroad while your furniture is in storage, there is no need to bring it back to the villa first. We take it out of the warehouse and ship it:
- By road to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf by truck, as in shipping from the UAE to Riyadh.
- By sea to distant countries.
- By air for urgent light boxes.
The procedure is explained in furniture moving in and out of Abu Dhabi, and the wider picture in the UAE furniture storage guide.
Tips for Abu Dhabi families before storing
- Clean and dry carpets a few days before collection, not on the day.
- Do not put perfume, incense or oud oil inside boxes.
- Photograph the majlis and valuable carpets before wrapping.
- Keep gold and documents with you while travelling.
- Collect wardrobe and drawer keys in one bag kept with the inventory.
Frequently asked questions about furniture storage in Abu Dhabi
Do you clean carpets before storing them?
We do not offer carpet washing, so we recommend a specialist carpet laundry and full drying before collection. After that we roll, bag and rack the carpets.
Are carpets stored standing or lying flat?
Lying flat on dedicated racks, because standing for months bends a carpet and crushes its lower edge.
We travel in summer and want the furniture delivered when we return. How does that work?
We collect a few days before you fly, you extend monthly by message while away, and before returning you send the delivery date and address.
Can we store part of the villa during maintenance?
Yes. We store in stages following the contractor’s schedule and return each part as its work is finished.
Will cushions and foam flatten in long-term storage?
We put no weight on cushions or sofas and keep them in a single row under cloth covers so they hold their shape.
Do you collect from Al Shamkha, Al Rahba and other outlying areas?
Yes, from every part of Abu Dhabi; distance only affects the collection and delivery charge.
How much is storage for a three-bedroom home in Abu Dhabi?
It starts from AED 1,850 a month, and larger villas are priced after the video survey based on actual volume.
