If you live in a villa in Al Ain and need a shipping company from Al Ain to Morocco that can move the majlis, the carpets and the carved cabinets as they are, the route we use at Al Basmah International Shipping is a full container loaded at the villa door. Al Ain is an inland city with no port, so once sealed the container is trucked to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi or to Jebel Ali, and from there it sails to Casablanca, sometimes to Tanger Med, in roughly three to five weeks port to port. After customs clearance a truck takes it on from Casablanca to Meknes or any other Moroccan city. Luxury cars travel in a container after an eligibility check, and urgent parcels fly from Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport. There is no road route to Morocco: it is sea or air only.

The majlis on its way to Morocco
- For: Al Ain villas and large homes, with majlis seating, carpets, wooden cabinets and chandeliers.
- Method: a 40 ft or 40 ft high cube container loaded at the villa, or a shared container for smaller volumes.
- Route: truck from Al Ain to Khalifa Port or Jebel Ali, then sea to Casablanca or Tanger Med.
- Approximate time: 3–5 weeks by sea port to port, then clearance and the truck to Meknes.
- Luxury cars: in a container after an eligibility check; urgent items by air via Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
- Price: send the details on WhatsApp and you will get the price.
A container sized to the villa
We measure room by room, from the majlis to the maid’s room, so you do not pay for a bigger container than you need or end up needing a second one.
Carpets get special care
Cleaned, dried, rolled and wrapped in a breathable layer, because trapped moisture on a long voyage does more harm than knocks.
Your luxury car in a container
Strapped by the wheels with soft straps so nothing touches the body, once we confirm Morocco will accept it.
Meknes and around
Casablanca is the usual arrival port with a truck on to Meknes, or Tanger Med if the vessel suits better.
Villa furniture in Al Ain: what we move and how we prepare it
Homes in Al Ain are usually spacious: a men’s majlis and a women’s majlis, halls, bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, and a garden with outdoor seating. That volume makes a full container the logical choice, and it makes an accurate inventory before booking more important than anything else. These are the pieces we move most often from Al Ain villas, and how each is prepared:
Majlis and floor seating
An Arabic majlis is made up of back rests, floor mattresses, cushions and armrests, sometimes with a large L-shaped sofa. Mattresses and back rests go into clean, sealed plastic covers and are numbered in their majlis order so the room can be put back together in Morocco exactly as it was. The large sofa is dismantled as far as it allows, and its corners are wrapped in corrugated card before the blankets.
Carpets
Handmade and large carpets need different care. They must be clean and completely dry before wrapping, because moisture trapped for weeks in a container leaves odours and stains. Carpets are rolled, never folded, then wrapped in paper or cloth that lets them breathe, with an outer plastic layer, and they are laid flat on top of heavy furniture in the container, not underneath it.
Carved wooden cabinets and chandeliers
Carved cabinets and sideboards have their glass doors removed and packed in made-to-measure wooden crates, built from heat-treated timber with the ISPM-15 stamp that Moroccan customs requires. The cabinet body is wrapped in blankets and raised carving is protected with foam. Chandeliers have their crystals removed and each one wrapped on its own in a small numbered box, with the frame shipped in a separate crate.
- Full bedroom sets and built-in wardrobes that can be dismantled.
- Large appliances: double-door fridges, washers and dryers, ovens.
- Garden seating and swings, cleaned of sand and dust.
- Kitchen and hospitality items: coffee pots, cups and large serving dishes in double-walled boxes.
- Books, files and family photos in small boxes that are easy to carry.

Pickup areas in Al Ain
We collect from every district of Al Ain and the areas around it, and arrange for the container to stand in front of the villa or at the nearest point the street allows:
- Residential districts: Al Jimi, Al Muwaiji, Al Towayya, Zakher, Al Hili, Al Maqam, Al Mutaredh, Al Khabisi, Asharej, Al Markhaniya.
- Larger villa areas: Falaj Hazza, Al Yahar, Al Foah and around.
- Industrial areas: Al Ain Industrial Area and Hili Industrial Area, for companies, workshops and commercial goods.
In some villa communities the municipality does not allow large trucks to stand for long hours, or the villa entrance is narrower than the container. In those cases we agree the parking spot with the team before loading day and may use a small truck to shuttle between the villa door and the container.
From Al Ain to the port, then by sea to Casablanca
After it is loaded and sealed in front of you, the container is trucked from Al Ain to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi or to Jebel Ali, depending on which has the nearest suitable sailing. It is not opened at this stage, and you get a WhatsApp message when it reaches the port and again when it sails.
From the Gulf the vessel sails around the Arabian Peninsula into the Red Sea, then through the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean, arriving at Tanger Med or continuing through the Strait of Gibraltar to Casablanca on the Atlantic, and sometimes to Agadir. Timing is approximate, usually three to five weeks port to port depending on the shipping line and its port calls.
How many containers does your villa need?
A 20 ft container holds roughly 33 cubic metres, a 40 ft about 67 and a 40 ft high cube about 76. A medium villa with one majlis and four bedrooms usually needs a 40 ft high cube; larger villas may need two containers, or one for furniture and another for a car. A video inventory gives a good estimate and a visit before booking gives a firmer figure. If there is not much, say the contents of two rooms, a shared container priced per cubic metre costs less.
Al Ain to Morocco transit times
| Method | Approximate time | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sea – full container (FCL) | A day to the port + 3–5 weeks at sea + clearance and trucking | Villas, majlis and carpets, cars | Sealed at the villa and opened only for customs and then at your home |
| Sea – shared container (LCL) | Longer than FCL because of warehouse consolidation and unloading on arrival | One or two rooms, boxes | Priced per cubic metre; needs stronger packing |
| Air | About 2–5 days door to door including clearance | Documents, urgent parcels, small valuables | Via Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport; priced on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher |
Luxury car shipping from Al Ain to Morocco
Many of our Al Ain customers own large SUVs or luxury cars they want to take with them. We ship them inside a closed container: one car in a 20 ft, two in a 40 ft, or a car with part of the furniture when space allows. The car is secured with soft straps around the wheels and wooden chocks, no strap ever goes over the body or paint, and it sits under a fabric cover inside the container. If RoRo suits a particular car better, it is driven on board at the port, and the team explains the difference before you book.
Before booking the car’s space we check whether it can enter Morocco. For Moroccans living abroad there is a temporary admission regime and a definitive import regime with conditions, and duty reductions may exist for certain cases. The car’s value, age and specification all affect the duties due, and the rules change, so we do not quote general rates; the team reviews your case and tells you which option is open before the car leaves Al Ain.
- A valid registration card (mulkiya) in your name and an export certificate from the traffic department.
- A bank clearance letter if the car is financed.
- Passport and residence copies, and the Moroccan national ID card for Moroccan citizens.
- The Moroccan documents required by the entry regime the team confirms with you.
- A spare key, and no personal items left inside the car.

Air freight from Al Ain to Morocco
While the container spends weeks at sea, a family needs some things that cannot wait: official papers, school certificates, permitted medicines, clothes for the first weeks. We collect these from your home in Al Ain and send them from Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport to Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, or to Fes, Rabat, Marrakech or Tangier depending on available flights. It usually takes two to five days door to door including clearance.
Air pricing uses the actual weight or the volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 70 × 45 × 30 cm case, for example, counts as 15.75 kg. Furniture and large carpets do not fly, and lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted, so ask the team before packing any of them.

Documents required
Villa furniture and personal effects
- Passport and UAE residence copies.
- Moroccan national ID card for Moroccan citizens, or a Moroccan residence card for foreigners.
- A detailed contents list with box numbers that clearly lists carpets, chandeliers and valuable pieces.
- The delivery address in Meknes or elsewhere, and a Moroccan phone number.
- For a definitive return: proof of the period of residence abroad and of return, as the team specifies for your case.
Commercial goods
A commercial invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin that may benefit from the Greater Arab Free Trade Area agreement if the goods are of Arab origin, and the Moroccan importer’s details including the ICE company identifier. The customs broker files the declaration through the BADR system, and VAT at the standard 20% rate is due along with customs duties according to the type of goods.
Cars
The registration card, the export certificate, a bank clearance if any, a passport copy, and whatever the Moroccan regime the car enters under requires. The car does not ship until this list is complete.
What cannot be shipped to Morocco
- Narcotics, weapons and ammunition, including decorative or hunting weapons without a licence.
- Counterfeit goods.
- Drones: banned or subject to prior authorisation.
- Some medicines, electronics and communication devices: permits required.
- Gas cylinders, fuel, paints and anything flammable, including gas barbecues until emptied and cleaned.
- Plants and soil: subject to plant-health rules, so we advise against packing them with furniture.
Warning: Daggers and swords hung in a majlis as decoration are sometimes treated as weapons. Mention them to the team before packing so we can confirm whether they can ship, and never tuck them between cushions.
Shipping prices from Al Ain to Morocco
A villa container from Falaj Hazza is not priced like ten boxes from Al Jimi, so we do not publish one figure. For every service, whether a full container, a shared container, air freight or a luxury car, send the details on WhatsApp and you will get the price. Send a video of the majlis and rooms, the number of large carpets and chandeliers, the car model and the delivery city in Morocco, or use the quote request page.
What decides the price
| Factor | Effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Sea FCL, sea LCL or air | A container rate for FCL, per cubic metre for LCL, actual or volumetric weight for air |
| Container size and number | A 40 ft high cube or two containers, or one for furniture and one for the car |
| Volume | The accurate inventory of majlis rooms, bedrooms and garden |
| Trucking from Al Ain to the port | Al Ain is inland, so the truck to Khalifa Port or Jebel Ali is part of the cost |

| Special packing | Wooden crates for glass and marble, carpet and chandelier wrapping |
| Documents and clearance | Returning-resident effects or commercial goods subject to taxes and duties |

Delivery in Morocco: Meknes and other cities
Most Al Ain containers arrive in Casablanca, and from there the truck takes the motorway through Rabat to Meknes. If the available vessel calls at Tanger Med, Meknes can be reached from the north too. In Meknes we deliver directly to modern districts and villas; the old medina has narrow lanes trucks cannot enter, so goods are unloaded at the nearest point and moved in by handcart.
| City or area | Usual arrival port | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Casablanca (Anfa, Maarif, Ain Diab, Bouskoura, Ain Sebaa) | Casablanca | Delivery straight after clearance |
| Rabat, Salé and Kenitra (Agdal, Hay Riad, Souissi) | Casablanca | Short truck leg |
| Tangier and Tetouan | Tanger Med | Best for the north |
| Fes and Meknes | Usually Casablanca, or Tanger Med | Villas and modern districts direct; old medinas by handcart |
| Marrakech (Gueliz, Hivernage) | Casablanca | Riads inside the medina need manual unloading |
| Agadir | Agadir or Casablanca | Depends on the shipping line |
| Oujda | Tanger Med or Casablanca | Long inland leg; the date is set in advance |
For large villas we ask for a simple floor plan or photos of the new home, so the delivery crew knows where the majlis goes and which boxes belong to which room, and the container is unloaded once without moving furniture twice.

For those returning to Morocco for good
Moroccans returning for good can usually bring in their used furniture and belongings with a customs exemption granted once, under conditions that typically include a minimum period of residence abroad, proof of definitive return, a detailed contents list and importing within a set deadline. The team reviews your situation before shipping and tells you what is missing. Foreigners moving to Morocco with a residence card have different conditions, which we also check.
Tips from real villa moves
- Clean and dry carpets several days before loading, not on the day itself.
- Photograph carved cabinets and chandeliers before dismantling; the photos help with reassembly.
- Keep small valuables such as jewellery and watches in your hand luggage, not in the container.
- Decide early what to leave or sell in Al Ain; every cubic metre less means a smaller container.
- Tell the team if the Moroccan home is on an upper floor or inside an old medina.
- Ask the team about optional insurance, especially for handmade carpets and luxury cars.
Number the majlis pieces in order before dismantling and photograph the whole room. In Meknes it goes back together in minutes instead of an hour of guesswork.

FAQ: shipping from Al Ain to Morocco
Which port does an Al Ain container leave from?
Al Ain has no port, so the sealed container is trucked to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi or to Jebel Ali, whichever has the better sailing.
How long from Al Ain to Meknes?
Roughly three to five weeks at sea port to port, plus a day to reach the port, then a few days for clearance and the truck from Casablanca to Meknes.
Will the majlis, carpets and villa furniture fit in one container?
For a medium villa a 40 ft high cube is usually enough. Larger villas may need two containers; the video inventory settles this before booking.
Can I ship my luxury car to Morocco?
Yes, inside a container, once the team has checked its eligibility and entry regime for Morocco. We do not book the car before that check.
Can I ship by road from Al Ain to Morocco?
No. Morocco is served by sea for furniture and cars, and by air for urgent parcels via Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport.
How do I stay informed during the voyage?
The team messages you on WhatsApp at loading, arrival at the port, sailing, arrival in Morocco, clearance and when the truck leaves for your home.
Do I need to travel before the container?
It is best if a family member or someone you authorise is in Morocco when the container arrives, for clearance and receipt; the team arranges the timing with you.
How do I find out the price?
Send the details on WhatsApp and you will get the price: a video of the villa, the number of carpets and chandeliers, the car model and the delivery city.
Is your majlis ready to leave for Morocco?
Send a video of the villa and your delivery city, and we will arrange the container at your door in Al Ain.
