Shipping Company from Abu Dhabi to Morocco Villa Furniture in a Full Container and Family Car Shipping to Marrakech
Guide summary

Villa furniture from Abu Dhabi to Morocco in a full 40 ft container: loaded to plan at your door, braced and sealed, shipped from Khalifa Port to Casablanca and trucked to Marrakech, with the family car by RoRo after an eligibility check.

To move a whole villa from Abu Dhabi to Morocco, the practical way is a 40 ft container, often a 40 ft high cube (HC), loaded at the villa door, braced inside and sealed, then shipped from Khalifa Port to Casablanca in roughly three to five weeks port to port; after clearance a truck takes it on to Marrakech or any other city. The family SUV travels by RoRo once we have checked it is eligible to enter. Al Basmah International Shipping is a shipping company from Abu Dhabi to Morocco taking orders on WhatsApp +971557643821 around the clock; send us the details on WhatsApp and you will get the price.

Your villa in a container

  • A three- or four-bedroom villa with a majlis usually fills a 40 ft HC, which holds roughly 76 cubic metres.
  • Loading happens at the villa door to a written plan: heavy items first at the front, first-night essentials by the doors.
  • The load is braced with straps, timber and airbags so nothing shifts at sea.
  • The seal is fitted in front of you, its number photographed and checked again in Casablanca.
  • Casablanca to Marrakech is about three hours on the motorway; the container is delivered on its truck or its load moved to smaller trucks.
  • The SUV ships by RoRo after its entry conditions are checked.

What do we ship from Abu Dhabi to Morocco?

We ship villa and apartment furniture, large Arabic majlis sets, garden furniture, home gym equipment, used appliances, the family car and commercial goods, plus urgent parcels by air. Most Abu Dhabi requests differ from Dubai ones in size: spacious homes in Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Al Shamkha with a majlis, a big dining room, a storeroom and a garden. That means a full container, not cartons in groupage.

  • Large bedroom sets and built-in wardrobes that can be dismantled.
  • Majlis seating, large sofas and dining tables for ten or more.
  • Garden furniture, umbrellas and barbecues, cleaned of soil.
  • Home gym equipment: treadmill, exercise bike, weights.
  • Fridges, washers and dryers, one of each type for anyone claiming the definitive-return exemption.
  • The SUV by RoRo, or inside the container if there is room.

A whole villa

A 40 ft HC loaded at the door; a very large villa may need an extra 20 ft.

Apartment on Al Reem or Al Raha

A 20 ft container or groupage, depending on volume.

The family car

Eligibility check, then RoRo from Khalifa Port.

Commercial goods

From Mussafah and the port economic zone, with full commercial papers.

Is a 40 ft container enough for your villa?

In most cases, yes. A standard 40 ft holds about 67 cubic metres and a 40 ft HC about 76, and the extra height helps with tall wardrobes and mattresses standing upright. A three-bedroom villa usually fills one, while a five-bedroom villa with a large majlis and garden furniture may need a 20 ft alongside. We confirm after seeing the rooms on video or in person.

Home type in Abu Dhabi Approx. volume Container
Two- or three-bedroom villa 40 – 60 m³ 40 ft
Three- or four-bedroom villa with majlis 60 – 76 m³ 40 ft HC
Five-plus bedroom villa with garden Over 76 m³ 40 ft HC + 20 ft
Villa plus car Depends on furniture 40 ft HC for furniture + RoRo for the car

If your home is a small apartment with fewer things, groupage options and the definitive-return papers are covered in detail in the Dubai to Morocco shipping guide.

The loading plan inside the container

A container loaded without a plan arrives with its load leaning or pieces broken. The day before loading we write down the order of items, then stick to it outside the villa.

  1. Heaviest first at the front of the container: fridge, washer, treadmill, book cartons, marble tables in their crates.
  2. Weight spread evenly on both sides, never concentrated on one.
  3. Wardrobes and mattresses stand along the long walls; heavy cartons below, light ones on top.
  4. Sofas and majlis pieces in the middle, wrapped and protected from rubbing.
  5. Gaps filled with clothing cartons and cushions so nothing has room to move.
  6. First-night essentials (beds, basic kitchen items, bathroom things) go in last by the doors so they come out first in Marrakech.

Bracing the load

The ship rolls, and the container is lifted and set down by cranes more than once, so a full container is not enough; the load has to be tied down.

  • Straps tensioned to the lashing rings on the container walls every few metres.
  • Timber boards and bars separating layers and stopping anything sliding towards the doors.
  • Airbags inflated in the last gaps before closing.
  • ISPM-15 treated wooden crates for marble, glass and antiques.
  • Moisture-absorbing bags, because the shift from Gulf heat to Atlantic air causes condensation inside.

The seal and its number

After the last item the doors are closed and a metal bolt seal with a unique number is fitted in front of you. We photograph the seal and number and send the photo to you on WhatsApp, and the same number goes on the bill of lading. On arrival in Casablanca the number is checked before opening. Moroccan customs may open the container for inspection and fit a new seal; that is routine and is recorded in the clearance papers.

Pickup areas in Abu Dhabi

We reach every part of Abu Dhabi. Gated communities need an entry permit for the truck and container from the community management, and on some narrow streets we load a smaller truck first and transfer to the container at a nearby point.

  • Villa areas: Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Shakhbout City, Al Shamkha, Al Rahba, Al Falah.
  • Islands and waterfronts: Al Reem Island, Al Raha Beach, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island.
  • In the city: Al Mushrif, Al Bateen, Al Khalidiya, Al Karamah, Al Muroor.
  • Industrial and commercial: Mussafah, Baniyas, the economic zone near Khalifa Port.

If you live in Al Ain we collect the same way; see the Al Ain to Morocco guide.

The sea route from Khalifa Port to Morocco

Shipping from Abu Dhabi to Morocco is by sea or air only; there is no road route. The container is trucked from the villa to Khalifa Port, then sails through the Red Sea, the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean to Casablanca or Tanger Med. Sometimes the fastest available booking is from Jebel Ali, in which case we truck the container there. Some sailings call at a transshipment port, which is why times vary a little between bookings.

How long does shipping from Abu Dhabi to Morocco take?

Roughly three to five weeks from Khalifa Port to Casablanca for a full container, then the clearance days, then a day to reach Marrakech. By air it is two to five days door to door.

Method Approx. time Best for Notes
Sea – full container (FCL) 3 – 5 weeks port to port + clearance A whole villa or large apartment Sealed at your door; opened only by customs
Sea – groupage (LCL) About 4 – 6 weeks + clearance Cartons and a few pieces Priced per m³; waits for the container to fill
RoRo for the car Depends on vessel schedule, close to sea FCL The family SUV Driven aboard with nothing inside
Air 2 – 5 days door to door Documents and urgent parcels Not for furniture

Air freight from Abu Dhabi to Morocco

Air freight from Abu Dhabi to Morocco leaves Zayed International Airport and usually lands at Mohammed V in Casablanca, sometimes Marrakech, Rabat or Tangier, in two to five days door to door including clearance. Villa owners typically use it for what cannot wait for the container: school files, papers for the new home, some clothes, or something the family needs in the first week.

The charge is on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, where volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted by air, and furniture does not go by plane.

Shipping the family SUV by RoRo

Before booking we check the car’s eligibility. Morocco distinguishes between temporary admission for cars of Moroccans living abroad and definitive import with duties, and customs instructions provide a large duty reduction on a passenger car of up to nine seats for MRE retirees aged sixty or over who have lived outside Morocco for at least ten years, once in a lifetime and with a value cap. Utility vehicles and pick-ups do not qualify for that reduction. We will not give you a rate or figure until the team has checked your case against the instructions in force.

Once cleared, the car ships by RoRo: a port driver drives it aboard and secures it on the car deck, uncovered. We ask for it to be empty of belongings, low on fuel, with a healthy battery, and one key handed over with the papers. We record the car’s condition in photos at pickup in Abu Dhabi and send them to you. If the car is small and the furniture container has room, shipping it inside the container can be another option.

  • Vehicle registration and the export certificate after the plates are handed in.
  • Passport and residence card.
  • Proof of residence abroad and retirement papers if you apply for the reduction, with a sworn translation of any document not in Arabic or French.

Arrival in Casablanca and clearance

When the container reaches Casablanca, clearance starts with the papers we prepared: bill of lading, contents list, and the change-of-residence certificate for a definitive return. The seal number is checked and the container may be opened for inspection. Each container has free days at the port, after which delay charges apply, so we line up the paperwork before the ship arrives, not after.

For families returning for good, the usual requirements are a change-of-residence certificate from the competent Moroccan consulate, a dated and signed contents list and proof of residence abroad, and the exemption on used furniture is granted once per family. If the shipment is split into two lots, both usually have to clear at the same customs office within six months of the certificate date.

Warning: If the container is delivered on its truck to your villa door, there is a set time to return the empty container. Have the unloading crew and the truck parking spot ready before arrival day so waiting hours do not turn into charges.

Trucking to Marrakech and other cities

Casablanca to Marrakech is about 240 km, roughly three hours on the motorway. There are two options: the sealed container goes on its truck right to your villa in Gueliz, Hivernage or the outskirts of the city, or it is unloaded at the port and the load moved to smaller trucks. The first means less handling; the second is necessary when a long container truck cannot get into the street.

For a riad inside the old medina of Marrakech, the truck stops at the nearest permitted entrance and the last stretch is done with hand carts through the narrow lanes. We include that stage in the price from the start so it is not a surprise.

City Usual arrival port Note
Casablanca Casablanca Delivery right after clearance
Rabat and Kenitra Casablanca About 1.5 hours on the motorway
Tangier and Tetouan Tanger Med Best for the north
Fes and Meknes Casablanca or Tanger Med Depends on the sailing
Marrakech (Gueliz, Hivernage) Casablanca About 3 hours; hand carts in the medina
Agadir Agadir or Casablanca Depends on the shipping line
Oujda Tanger Med or Casablanca Longest inland distance

At each stage the team sends you a WhatsApp update: the container leaving the villa, sailing, arrival, clearance done, and the truck setting off for your city.

  4. We write the loading plan and arrange the truck’s entry permit to your community.
  5. Loading day: packing, dismantling, loading to plan, bracing, then sealing and photographing the seal.

  7. Clearance in Casablanca, then the truck to your villa in Marrakech, unloading and reassembly.

Tips for villa owners

  • Clean garden furniture and the barbecue of soil and food residue; dirty items can slow the inspection.
  • Drain the fuel from the lawnmower and generator before loading.
  • Decide what you are leaving behind before loading day; every cubic metre saved is space.
  • Keep gold, cash and original documents in your hand luggage.
  • Ask the team about optional insurance for the container.
  • Check whether your street in Marrakech can take a long truck, or tell us so we arrange smaller ones.

A tip from the field: photograph built-in wardrobes from several angles before they come apart. The assembly crew in Marrakech will rebuild them faster and more accurately when they can see the original.

Frequently asked questions

How many containers do I need to move a villa from Abu Dhabi to Morocco?

A three- or four-bedroom villa with a majlis usually fills one 40 ft HC. A larger villa with a lot of garden furniture may need an extra 20 ft.

Is the container loaded outside the villa?

Yes. The container comes on its truck to the villa door and the furniture is loaded straight in. In gated communities we arrange the entry permit in advance.

What happens to the seal if customs opens the container?

The inspection is recorded in the clearance papers and a new seal is fitted. It is routine and does not mean there is a problem.

How long does a container take from Khalifa Port to Marrakech?

Roughly three to five weeks to Casablanca, then the clearance days, then about three hours by truck to Marrakech.

Can the SUV ship with the furniture?

It usually ships separately by RoRo after its eligibility is checked. If the car is small and there is room in the container, it can go inside.

Can you deliver to a riad in the Marrakech medina?

The truck stops at the nearest permitted entrance and the things are taken through the lanes on hand carts. We include this in the price from the start.

Is villa furniture exempt from duty in Morocco?

Moroccans returning for good usually get an exemption on used furniture once per family, with a change-of-residence certificate and a contents list. The team reviews your case before booking.

How will I know each stage of the shipment?

The team sends you the seal photo on WhatsApp, then an update at each stage: sailing, arrival, clearance and the truck setting off.

Is your villa ready to travel?

Send a video of the rooms and garden and your city in Morocco, and you will get the price along with a loading plan.
