Need a shipping company from Al Ain to Riyadh to move your home, car or goods? There is one standard route: from Al Ain west through the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to the Al Ghuwaifat border, then Al Batha on the Saudi side, then Al Ahsa (Hofuf) and on to Riyadh. It does not go through Oman. We collect from your villa or farm in Al Ain and deliver to your Riyadh district, your rest house or farm on the city’s outskirts, or Al Kharj in about 2–4 days including clearance. To order, contact Al Basmah International Shipping on WhatsApp +971557643821 — orders are received around the clock.

The road as it is
- Al Ain → west through Abu Dhabi → Al Dhafra → Ghuwaifat → Al Batha → Al Ahsa → Riyadh.
- Al Ain is closer to the western border than the northern emirates; Riyadh or Al Kharj takes about 2–4 days.
- Chandeliers and formal dining sets are packed piece by piece, heavy items in wooden crates.
- We collect cars from the farm itself; an SUV on an open carrier starts from 2,750 AED.
- Urgent items fly from Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport to King Khalid Airport, Riyadh.
Does an Al Ain to Riyadh shipment pass through Oman?
No. Al Ain sits right on the Omani border, but a truck bound for Riyadh never goes near it. From the first kilometre it heads west: out of Al Ain towards Abu Dhabi, onto the highway into the Al Dhafra region, and on to the Al Ghuwaifat border near Al Sila — the land gateway between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Any route through Oman would mean an extra border and transit paperwork for nothing.
On the Saudi side, formalities start at Al Batha, where the declaration is completed electronically on the Fasah platform. After that it is a long desert road to Al Ahsa; from Hofuf the truck heads west to Riyadh and enters from the east. Dubai to Riyadh is about 1,060 km, and Al Ain saves part of the UAE leg because it lies further west than Dubai and the northern emirates.

Where do we collect in Al Ain?
We work across Al Ain and its outskirts. Because the city is spread out, we plan pickups by area and check in advance whether a trailer can enter your street or a dyna is needed for loading.
- Villa and family districts: Al Mutawaa, Al Jahili, Al Markhaniya, Al Qattara, Al Masoudi, Asharej, Falaj Hazza, Al Yahar.
- Outskirts and farms: Nahil, Sweihan, Al Foah, Al Khaznah, Al Hayer, Al Wagan and farms along the outer roads.
- Al Ain Industrial Area: workshops, warehouses, showrooms and trade goods.
If you are heading to a Saudi city other than Riyadh, see our Al Ain to Saudi Arabia guide. If you live in Abu Dhabi city itself, see shipping from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh.
Moving large homes: chandeliers and dining sets
Homes in Al Ain are often spacious villas with separate majlis rooms, a dining hall with a formal set for twelve or more, and crystal chandeliers hanging from high ceilings. These are the pieces owners worry about most, and rightly so: a chandelier is never moved hanging as it is, and a marble dining table is never carried as one piece.

How we take down and pack a chandelier
- We photograph the chandelier from several angles before touching it, so it goes back together the same way.
- Power is switched off and the chandelier is taken down from a proper ladder — never left hanging while the crystals come off.
- Each crystal or chain is wrapped in soft paper and placed in bags numbered by tier.
- The metal frame is wrapped in foam and placed in a wooden crate or heavy carton, padded on every side.
- The crate is marked fragile and this-way-up, and loaded last on top of the stable load, never underneath it.
Dining sets and majlis seating
A marble or glass dining top is separated from its base and travels upright in a wooden frame. Each chair gets a fabric cover and then plastic so fabric or leather never rubs against the next one. Mirrors are removed from buffets and consoles and wrapped separately. Majlis cushions and armrests go into large clean bags, and fine rugs are rolled, never folded. In Riyadh the team reassembles the table and wardrobes and rehangs the chandelier if the ceiling fitting is ready.
The road is hot in summer, so candles, perfumes and sensitive electronics go in separate cartons away from the truck roof, and we prefer to load early in the morning.
Car shipping from the farm in Al Ain
Many Al Ain families keep their cars or desert vehicles at the farm, and the track there is sometimes unpaved or too narrow for a long car carrier. In that case either a small flatbed brings the car to a point on the paved road, or the owner drives it there, and it is loaded onto the carrier from that point. New or valuable cars are covered and loaded into an enclosed carrier, protected from dust and sun along the desert road.

- Remove everything from the car — desert kit, tents, cool boxes and personal items; the car ships empty.
- Clean off heavy mud and sand so the car’s condition can be checked clearly at pickup.
- Off-road modified cars (lift kits, big tyres, add-ons) are special cases — send photos before booking.
Car documents
- Vehicle registration (mulkiya) in the owner’s name.
- Export certificate and plate surrender through the Abu Dhabi vehicle licensing authority.
- Copy of the owner’s passport and ID.
- A used passenger car must be no more than 5 years old from the model year, counted back excluding the current year.
Company-registered cars or cars close to the age limit are checked with the team before shipping, so they are not held at Al Batha.
Delivery to rest houses and farms around Riyadh and Al Kharj
Some Al Ain shipments are not going to a Riyadh apartment but to a rest house (istiraha) or farm: in Al Thumamah north-east of Riyadh, Al Ammariyah, Al Hair south of the city, or the farms of Al Kharj. These places often have no clear address, so we ask for an exact map pin, a photo of the entrance and a word about the road: is it paved up to the gate, and can a large truck turn inside?

If the entrance does not suit a trailer, we transfer the load to a 5- or 7-ton dyna for the last stretch. Someone should be on site to receive the load and say where each piece goes: outdoor seating under the shade, fridges in the kitchen, tents in the store. Rest-house deliveries are done in daylight, because many internal roads are poorly lit.
Inside Riyadh districts and compounds
If you are moving into a home inside Riyadh — Al Malqa, Hittin or Al Narjis in the north, Al Rawdah or Al Yarmouk in the east, Dhahrat Laban or Irqah in the west — we schedule around the hours large trucks may enter the city. Compounds want a gate permit with the crew’s names and the vehicle number at least a day ahead, and villas with narrow access may need a dyna for the last leg.
Commercial goods from Al Ain Industrial Area to Riyadh warehouses
From Al Ain Industrial Area we move shop stock, equipment, spare parts and showroom furniture to Riyadh’s Second Industrial City, the Al Sulay warehouses and shops across the city. Large volumes go on a 12–13.6 m closed trailer, medium ones on a 10-ton lorry, small ones in a shared load. Commercial cargo clears through Fasah and needs:
- A commercial invoice (certified when required) and a packing list.
- A certificate of origin; UAE-origin goods with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty, and Saudi VAT of 15% applies.
- A SABER certificate for many consumer products.
- SFDA requirements for food, cosmetics and medicines.
- A Saudi commercial registration for the consignee.
Sea freight for large loads
Companies shipping full containers (FCL) or part containers (LCL) can go from Khalifa port or Jebel Ali to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam in about 2–3 days of sailing, then by rail to Riyadh Dry Port, plus handling and clearance time. For homes and cars, road remains the better fit. Send the container details and ask for the price.
Urgent air freight from Al Ain via Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport
For a parcel that cannot wait — official papers, a device, spare parts — we ship by air. Al Ain airport is not a practical option for cargo to Riyadh, so we collect the parcel in Al Ain and take it to Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport, each roughly an hour and a half away by car. It reaches King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in about 1–3 days including clearance.

- Suits light parcels, not large furniture.
- Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted on flights.
- Price follows actual or volumetric weight — send weight and dimensions and ask for the price.
Personal-effects documents when moving to Riyadh
- A copy of the owner’s passport.
- A copy of the Saudi ID, iqama or residence visa.
- A detailed inventory in Arabic or English — we write it with you while packing.
- Items must be used and in personal quantities; new items in commercial quantities are dutiable.
Prohibited and restricted items for Riyadh
- Narcotics, alcohol and pork products.
- Weapons and ammunition without permits, including hunting weapons.
- Counterfeit goods and gambling tools.
- Drones and some medicines need a prior permit.
- Filled gas cylinders, fuel and flammable barbecue liquids — common in desert and farm kit — empty them or leave them in Al Ain.

What decides the cost of moving your Al Ain home?
- Size of the home: a villa with two majlis rooms and a dining hall is not an apartment, and may need a full dedicated truck.
- Special pieces: chandeliers, marble and antiques need wooden crates and more packing time.
- Pickup point: a farm on a dirt track may need an extra dyna or flatbed.
- Delivery point: a rest house outside Riyadh, a farm in Al Kharj, or a compound with permits.
- Truck type: shared is cheaper; dedicated leaves on your date.
- Documents: commercial goods that need SABER or SFDA approval.
From order to delivery in Riyadh
- Send photos of the rooms or a list of items on WhatsApp, with your Al Ain location and the delivery point in or around Riyadh.
- You receive the price and truck type, we set a pickup date, and we may ask for extra photos of chandeliers and special pieces.
- Pickup day: dismantling, packing, numbering and the inventory, plus loading cars from the house or farm.
- The truck heads west to Ghuwaifat and the team updates you on WhatsApp.
- At Al Batha the declaration is completed on Fasah, and the load continues via Al Ahsa.
- We agree the delivery slot with you, based on truck entry times or the state of the road to the rest house.
- Unloading, furniture reassembly and rehanging the chandelier where the fitting is ready.
The team keeps you updated on WhatsApp at every stage, from pickup to delivery.
Mistakes that delay Al Ain to Riyadh shipments
Photograph every chandelier and valuable piece before packing and keep the photos on your phone. They help with reassembly and show the condition of each piece at delivery.
- Leaving a gas cylinder or fuel among the farm items.
- Sending a rough location for the rest house instead of an exact map pin.
- Forgetting the Riyadh compound permit until arrival day.
- Leaving desert kit inside the car being shipped.
- Mixing large quantities of new goods with household furniture.
Warning: A passenger car more than 5 years old from its model year cannot be brought into Saudi Arabia as a used imported car. Check the model year before booking the carrier.

Questions Al Ain residents ask about shipping to Riyadh
How long does Al Ain to Riyadh take?
About 2–4 days door to door including clearance; Al Kharj and Diriyah take about the same. A shared truck may need a few extra days.
Do you take down chandeliers and rehang them in Riyadh?
Yes. We take the chandelier down, pack the crystals piece by piece in numbered bags, and reassemble and rehang it in Riyadh if the ceiling wiring is ready.
Do you collect the car from the farm?
Yes. If the carrier cannot enter the farm, a small flatbed brings the car to the paved road, or the car is driven to the loading point.
Do you deliver to a rest house in Al Thumamah or a farm in Al Kharj?
Yes, once we have an exact map pin and know the road conditions. If the entrance does not suit a trailer, we switch to a dyna for the last stretch.
Why not ship from Al Ain airport?
Cargo options from there to Riyadh are limited, so urgent parcels go from Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport and reach King Khalid Airport in about 1–3 days.
How much does moving a villa from Al Ain to Riyadh cost?
A villa usually needs a dedicated truck, priced from photos or a survey. Furniture in a shared truck starts from 90 AED per cubic metre.
How do I know where my shipment is on the road?
The team sends you a WhatsApp update at pickup, at Ghuwaifat, after Al Batha and before arrival in Riyadh.
Do I need to be there at delivery?
No — someone you authorise is enough. Send us their name and number and we agree the time with them.
