Looking for a shipping company from Dubai to Kuwait that can pack up your home library, study and leather sofas from a Dubai villa, carry your sports car under cover, and deliver the lot to a new seafront apartment in Salmiya? At Al Basmah International Shipping we collect from your door anywhere in Dubai, pack and prepare the paperwork through our Deira branch, and send the truck overland through Saudi Arabia in transit to the Al Nuwaiseeb border and on to your Kuwait address. Door to door usually takes about 3–5 days including clearance. Furniture in a shared truck starts from 90 AED per cubic metre, and an enclosed car carrier starts from 4,100 AED. For something light and urgent, air freight from Dubai to Kuwait Airport takes roughly 1–2 days.

Collection-day arrangements

  • Book the service lift or truck access with your Dubai tower or community management at least two days ahead, then send us the slot on WhatsApp.
  • Leave the books on their shelves; the packing crew numbers each shelf and packs it into small cartons in the same order, so the library goes back together easily in Kuwait.
  • Have a contents list in Arabic or English ready, with a passport copy and Kuwaiti civil ID; these are the core clearance papers for personal effects.
  • The car is handed over empty of personal belongings, with its registration and the export certificate after the UAE plates are cancelled.
  • Once loaded, the team sends you a WhatsApp update at every stage: departure, Al Ghuwaifat, arrival at Al Nuwaiseeb, and the delivery appointment.

How does shipping from Dubai to Kuwait work?

Shipping from Dubai to Kuwait is mostly done by road. Your goods are loaded into a closed truck at your Dubai address, which heads west past Abu Dhabi and through Al Dhafra to the Al Ghuwaifat border. It enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha under transit rules: the load is sealed and declared as passing through, not cleared into Saudi Arabia. The truck then runs north through the Eastern Province, via Al Ahsa, Dammam and Jubail, leaves at Al Khafji and enters Kuwait at Al Nuwaiseeb, where Kuwaiti customs clear the shipment electronically before it heads to your door.

That route makes road freight far cheaper than air for anything big or heavy. It is the same road we use for Dubai to Saudi Arabia, so anyone who has moved goods to the Eastern Province will recognise the stages. The difference is that nothing is opened in Saudi Arabia, which is exactly why the paperwork must be complete before the truck leaves Dubai: a gap discovered at the border holds up the whole load.

For the overview covering every emirate, see our guide to shipping from the UAE to Kuwait. This guide is specifically for people shipping from Dubai, and for the kind of contents Dubai villas and apartments tend to have.

What we ship from Dubai to Kuwait

Most Dubai-to-Kuwait jobs we handle are families or professionals moving out of large villas and apartments, and they are heavy on studies, home libraries, leather furniture and artwork, along with cars and business stock. We take the whole move or just part of it, from a single carton to a full house.

Studies and home libraries

A home library is harder to move than it looks. Books are very heavy for their size, and a big carton full of them either splits at the bottom or crushes whatever sits beneath it. We pack books into small double-wall cartons, upright or flat depending on the binding, and number each carton after the shelf it came from. Old volumes and rare books are wrapped individually in acid-free paper first. Wooden bookcases and large desks are dismantled where possible, with the screws bagged, numbered and taped to the piece itself, and a glass-topped desk has its glass removed and crated.

Leather sofas and chairs

Leather does not like plastic pressed against it in the heat. Wrap a leather sofa directly in stretch film, leave it in a truck under the Gulf sun for days, and moisture condenses on the surface and can leave marks or cracks. We cover leather first with clean fabric blankets or breathable wrapping paper, then add the outer protective layer, and protect corners and legs with card edges. Nothing heavy is loaded on top.

Appliances, artwork and business goods

We move large appliances, TVs, paintings and mirrors in wooden crates, antiques and chandeliers, and home gym equipment. For businesses and shops we ship commercial goods from warehouses in Al Quoz, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Investments Park and elsewhere, by shared or dedicated truck, or by sea container for large volumes. Small parcels go by road from 45 AED.

Pickup areas in Dubai

We collect anywhere in Dubai and come to you; there is no need to bring anything to the branch. Areas we often collect from for Kuwait include:

  • Deira and Bur Dubai: close to our Port Saeed Street branch, including Al Rigga, Al Garhoud, Karama and Al Mankhool.
  • Villa communities: Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, Emirates Hills, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills, Al Furjan, Mizhar and Al Khawaneej.
  • Towers and apartments: Dubai Marina, JLT, Downtown, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Village Circle.
  • East Dubai: Mirdif, Al Warqa, Nad Al Hamar and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
  • Industrial areas and free zones: Al Quoz Industrial, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Airport Free Zone and Dubai Investments Park.

In towers we need the service lift and loading bay booked in advance, and some communities ask for a move-out permit from the landlord or property management. Sort that out before the day so the truck is not stuck at the gate. For villas in gated communities we arrange the truck parking spot with security.

The truck route from Dubai to Kuwait, step by step

  1. Collection and packing in Dubai: usually one day for an average home, two for a large villa with a library.
  2. Dubai to Al Ghuwaifat: west via Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra; UAE exit formalities are completed here.
  3. Al Batha and the Saudi transit: the load is sealed and declared in transit, then heads north through Al Ahsa, Dammam and Jubail.
  4. Al Khafji then Al Nuwaiseeb: exit from Saudi Arabia and entry into Kuwait, where clearance is done electronically against the manifest and documents.
  5. Delivery: to Salmiya, Hawalli or anywhere else, with unloading and reassembly as agreed.

Because the route runs through the Eastern Province, you can split a move with part going to Dammam and part to Kuwait. The Saudi side is covered in our guide to shipping from Dubai to Saudi Arabia.

Transit times from Dubai to Kuwait areas

These are approximate door-to-door times by road, including clearance. A shared truck may wait a few extra days to fill; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you choose.

Area in Kuwait Approx. time from Dubai Note
Kuwait City (Sharq, Qibla) 3–5 days Delivery slots at office towers are set with building management
Hawalli and Salmiya 3–5 days Seafront apartments need a lift booking and a parking spot
Farwaniya 3–5 days Includes Khaitan and Jleeb Al Shuyoukh
Al Ahmadi and Fahaheel 3–5 days Close to the road in from Al Nuwaiseeb
Al Jahra 3–5 days Family homes; unloading arranged with the recipient
Mubarak Al Kabeer 3–5 days Includes Sabah Al Salem

Air freight from Dubai to Kuwait

Air freight from Dubai to Kuwait suits urgent parcels, documents, samples and small spare parts, arriving in roughly 1–2 days from Dubai’s airports to Kuwait International Airport including clearance. It does not suit furniture or libraries: books are heavy, so flying them costs a lot for no real gain. They belong on the truck.

Air freight from Dubai to Kuwait, parcels on cargo rollers
Air freight from Dubai to Kuwait

Air freight is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 60 × 50 × 40 cm carton counts as 20 kg even if it actually weighs 8 kg, which is why we repack air parcels into the smallest safe size. Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted by air; tell the team about them before handover so we can decide what flies and what goes on the truck. For air rates, send the details on WhatsApp and you will get a price.

A setup that works for many families: clothes, important papers and work equipment you need in the first week go by air or in your luggage, and the rest of the house follows by road.

Sports car shipping from Dubai to Kuwait

Coupes and low-slung sports cars go from Dubai to Kuwait in an enclosed carrier, from 4,100 AED. The enclosed trailer keeps paint safe from dust and flying grit on a long desert road and keeps the interior leather out of days of direct sun. Just as important for low cars, loading uses a hydraulic platform or a shallow-angle ramp so the front splitter and underbody never scrape the trailer edge. Inside, the car is strapped by the wheels, not the chassis, and covered with a soft fabric cover.

Car shipping from Dubai to Kuwait

Everyday cars travel on an open multi-car carrier: sedans from 2,000 AED and SUVs from 2,750 AED. Before loading we photograph the car from every side and send you the pictures, and only a little fuel is left in the tank.

Kuwait sets an age limit and technical conditions for imported used cars, and these can change, so our team checks your car’s model year and specifications against Kuwait’s current conditions before booking it a space. A photo of the registration card on WhatsApp is enough to start.

Packing for a long, hot Gulf road

The road from Dubai to Kuwait is long and runs through extreme heat and dusty winds. Packing is not just wrapping here; it decides what condition your things arrive in.

  • Wood and bookcases: fabric blankets, then corrugated board, with corners protected; wood expands in heat, so no plastic is pulled tight against it.
  • Leather: a breathable layer first, no film touching the surface.
  • Books and files: small cartons one person can lift comfortably, numbered by shelf.
  • Glass, mirrors and paintings: wooden crates built to size.
  • Appliances and electronics: original boxes where available, otherwise padded cartons, with cables bagged and taped to the device.
  • Dust: cartons taped on every edge; mattresses and cushions in sealed bags.

Label each carton with the room it goes to in the new Salmiya apartment, not the room it left in the Dubai villa. The delivery crew can then put it straight where it belongs and you never move it twice.

Documents for shipping from Dubai to Kuwait

Personal effects and used furniture

  • Passport copy.
  • Kuwaiti civil ID copy; if yours has not been issued yet, ask the team before shipping which alternative document is accepted in your case.
  • A detailed contents list in Arabic or English, carton by carton.

Used furniture and belongings of someone moving to live in Kuwait are treated as personal effects; new items in commercial quantities are subject to customs duty.

Commercial goods

Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and the Kuwaiti consignee’s commercial licence or importer details. Goods of UAE origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty; the general duty on other imports is usually 5%. Food, medicines and cosmetics carry extra health requirements, and many electrical products need conformity approval before shipping.

Cars

Registration/ownership card, the Dubai export certificate after plate cancellation, the owner’s ID, and the car emptied of personal belongings.

Prohibited and restricted items

Not accepted for Kuwait: narcotics, alcohol, pork products, weapons and ammunition without permits, counterfeit goods and gambling equipment. Drones and some medicines need a permit in advance. If you are unsure about any item, ask the team before it is packed, not after.

Shipping prices from Dubai to Kuwait

Shipment type Starts from
Furniture and household goods, shared truck 90 AED per cubic metre
Small parcels by road 45 AED
Sedan on an open carrier 2,000 AED
SUV on an open carrier 2,750 AED
Car in an enclosed carrier (coupes, sports cars) 4,100 AED
Dedicated truck, air freight, containers Send the details on WhatsApp and get your price

The final price depends on volume, weight, the area in Kuwait, packing and documents. To compare starting points, see our guides to shipping from Abu Dhabi to Kuwait and shipping from Sharjah to Kuwait.

What decides the cost?

  • Volume in cubic metres: a big library plus a study can add a lot; dismantling brings it down.
  • Truck type: shared is cheaper but waits to fill; dedicated is faster and costs more.
  • Special packing: wooden crates for glass and art, breathable wrap for leather.
  • Delivery access: upper floors without a lift, or difficult truck parking.
  • Complete paperwork: gaps mean delays at the border, and delays cost money.

To keep costs down: clear out books and furniture you won’t use before packing, not after; dismantle what can be dismantled; and choose a shared truck if your date is flexible.

Delivery in Kuwait: Salmiya and beyond

Many people moving from Dubai settle in Salmiya apartments, especially along the seafront Arabian Gulf Street. These towers work much like Dubai towers: a pre-booked service lift, a set spot for the truck, and sometimes fixed hours for moving in. We confirm the slot with you a day before the truck reaches Al Nuwaiseeb, and where a large truck cannot get in we transfer the load to a smaller dyna that reaches the building entrance.

We also deliver to Kuwait City (Sharq and Qibla), Hawalli, Jabriya, Mishref, Bayan, Salwa, Rumaithiya and Surra, Farwaniya, Khaitan and Jleeb Al Shuyoukh, Al Ahmadi, Fahaheel, Mangaf and Abu Halifa, Mubarak Al Kabeer and Sabah Al Salem, Al Jahra, and Shuwaikh Industrial and Al Rai for business cargo.

Remember that Kuwaiti clearance at Al Nuwaiseeb runs on the papers that left Dubai with the truck, which is why we ask for complete documents before loading. For a full container or heavy commercial cargo, the sea option from Jebel Ali to Shuwaikh or Shuaiba port is worth comparing: a few days at sea plus port handling and clearance time. For household goods and cars, the road is usually the simpler and better fit.

Tips and warnings before you ship

Warning: Do not put jewellery, cash, passports or official papers in the furniture cartons; keep them with you. Any item missing from the contents list can hold up clearance at Al Nuwaiseeb.

  • Photograph the library and shelves before packing; the photos save hours when you set them up again.
  • Do not sell your car or cancel its plates until the team confirms it meets Kuwait’s import conditions.
  • If you have valuable pieces, ask the team about optional insurance before collection day.
  • The summer months are the busiest on this road; book early if you are moving during the holidays.
