Shipping Company from Dubai to Oman Home Office, Furniture and Sports Car Shipping
Guide summary

Move your flat or home office from a Dubai tower to Muscat by road via Hatta – Al Wajajah in about 1–3 days, with sports cars in an enclosed carrier and delivery to Al Qurum, Al Khuwair and Madinat Sultan Qaboos.

If you need a shipping company from Dubai to Oman to move an apartment, a home office or a sports car, the normal way is by road. Your things are loaded at your door in Dubai onto a closed truck, the truck usually crosses at Hatta – Al Wajajah toward Al Batinah and Muscat, and it reaches Muscat in about one to three days including customs clearance. At Al Basmah International Shipping we take orders on WhatsApp around the clock, and the team sends you an update at each stage: loading, arrival at the border, clearance done, and delivery.

Stops in this guide16 sectionsShowHide

This guide is written for people living in Dubai’s towers who want to know exactly what will happen: how a desk is taken apart and screens are packed, how a low car is loaded without scraping its underside on the ramp, which papers the Omani side asks for, and where prices start.

What we need from you

  • Your Dubai pickup address: tower or building name, floor number, and whether there is a service lift.
  • Photos or a list of your items, noting heavy pieces such as large wardrobes, a solid wood desk or a printer.
  • Your delivery area in Oman, such as Al Qurum, Al Khuwair or Madinat Sultan Qaboos, or any other wilayat.
  • If a car is coming too: make, year of manufacture, and whether it needs an enclosed carrier.
  • Your preferred loading date, plus a copy of your passport and your Omani residence card or national ID.

Usual route

By road through Hatta – Al Wajajah toward Al Batinah and Muscat; the team picks the crossing that suits your destination and the crossing’s arrangements on the day.

Time to Muscat

About 1–3 days door to door including clearance; a shared load may wait a few days for the truck to fill.

Our Dubai branch

Dubai – Deira – Port Saeed Street, with a second branch in Sharjah – Industrial Area 18.

Updates

The team messages you on WhatsApp at loading, at the border, at clearance and at delivery.

What do we ship from Dubai to Oman?

We ship from Dubai to Oman everything that normally moves between two homes, two offices, or a trader and their customer. Most requests we get from Dubai come from employees who have taken a job in Muscat, Omani families who lived in Dubai and are heading home, and small business owners who run an office from home and need their equipment to arrive intact and working on day one.

  • Apartment furniture: bedrooms, sofas, dining tables, curtains, rugs and small kitchens.
  • Home offices: wooden and glass desks, ergonomic chairs, monitors, computers, printers, filing cabinets and bookshelves.
  • Appliances: fridges, washing machines, dismantled AC units, ovens and large TVs.
  • Cars: sports cars in an enclosed carrier, family cars and sedans on an open carrier.
  • Small parcels and boxes: clothes, books, gifts and personal items.
  • Commercial goods: cartons and pallets for Dubai traders supplying Muscat and Sohar.

If your destination is further from Muscat, such as Nizwa, Sur or Salalah, the same applies with a longer transit time. For the wider picture across all the emirates, see the UAE to Oman shipping guide.

Moving home offices and apartments out of Dubai’s towers

Moving an apartment out of a tower in Dubai Marina or Business Bay is not like moving a villa. Most towers ask residents for a move-out permit from building management and a booked slot on the service lift, and some only allow loading during set hours from the kerb or the basement car park. That is why we ask for the tower name and floor first, and we time the loading to the building’s hours so the crew and the truck are not left waiting downstairs.

A home office needs extra care because damage there does not always show on the outside. A monitor that looks fine can arrive with a cracked panel if it was laid face down, and a computer can lose a drive if its box rattles with no padding. This is how we handle office items:

  • Monitors are wrapped in bubble wrap and stood upright in a heavy-duty carton, never laid on their face.
  • Computers and printers are padded inside and out, and the carton is marked “fragile” with an arrow showing which way is up.
  • Cables and chargers go into numbered bags matched to each device, so in Muscat you know which cable belongs to what.
  • A large desk is taken apart, and its screws go into a bag taped to the same piece.
  • Filing cabinets are emptied, or their drawers are locked shut so they cannot slide open on the road.

We recommend backing up your work files the day before loading, and keeping your laptop, small drives and any official papers you need in your first week with you in the car. The shipment will arrive, but whatever you need on the morning of your first working day should be in your hands, not on the truck.

Shipping sports cars from Dubai to Oman in an enclosed carrier

A sports car is not shipped like a family car. It sits low, its paint is sensitive to dust and flying stones on the road, and some models cannot take the angle of a standard loading ramp. So we ship it in a fully enclosed carrier, strap it by the wheels with soft straps rather than by the body, and use ramp extensions so the car climbs at a gentler angle.

  • Enclosed carrier: the right choice for sports, luxury and classic cars, starting from 4,100 AED.
  • Open carrier: fine for ordinary sedans and SUVs, starting from 2,000 AED for a sedan and 2,750 AED for an SUV.
  • We photograph the car from every side at pickup and send you the photos on WhatsApp, then photograph it again at delivery.
  • Leave only a little fuel in the tank and remove all personal belongings from the car.

Before you book, send us the car’s year of manufacture. Oman usually does not allow imported used passenger cars older than about seven years from the manufacture date, and classic cars need approval from the traffic authority. The team checks the current conditions for your specific car before loading, because these rules can change. Bear in mind that the car must also meet Omani specifications and pass inspection to be registered there, so if it has modified exhaust, lighting or window tint, tell us from the start.

Where do we collect from in Dubai?

We collect from anywhere in Dubai: apartments, villas, warehouses and free zones. These are the areas that come up most often in shipments to Oman:

  • Residential towers: Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lake Towers, JBR, Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, DIFC and Palm Jumeirah.
  • Family communities: Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle, Arabian Ranches, Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Mizhar.
  • Old Dubai and nearby: Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Karama, Al Qusais and Al Nahda.
  • Warehouse and industrial areas: Al Quoz, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Airport Free Zone and Dubai Investments Park.
  • Newer districts: Dubai Silicon Oasis, International City and Dubai South.

If you only have a few items and want to drop them off yourself, you can bring them to our branch in Deira on Port Saeed Street. If you live close to the Sharjah border, our Sharjah to Oman shipping service may be closer to you.

The road from Dubai to Muscat: Hatta – Al Wajajah

A truck leaving Dubai for Muscat usually takes the Hatta road, clears the Hatta post on the UAE side and the Al Wajajah post on the Omani side, then drops down to the Al Batinah plain and continues along the coastal road to Muscat. In practice it is the shortest route between Dubai and Muscat, which is why most traffic between the two cities relies on it.

Still, we never tie a shipment to one crossing. If you are heading to Shinas or Sohar, Khatmat Malaha on the Sharjah and Kalba side may suit better, and if you are going to Ibri or the interior, the route through Al Ain and the Mezyad – Hafeet crossing may be closer. The team chooses the crossing based on your destination and the crossing’s arrangements on shipping day, and tells you before loading.

At the border the shipment is inspected and its papers checked, and clearance in Oman is done electronically through the Bayan system. The more detailed and clear your contents list, the faster the truck gets through.

How long does a shipment take from Dubai to Omani cities?

The times below are approximate, door to door, including clearance. A dedicated truck leaves on the date you choose; a shared load may wait a few days for the truck to fill.

Destination in Oman Approx. time by road Usual crossing from Dubai
Muscat (Al Qurum, Al Khuwair, Seeb…) 1–3 days Hatta – Al Wajajah
Sohar and Al Batinah 1–2 days Hatta – Al Wajajah or Khatmat Malaha
Al Buraimi 1–2 days Via Al Ain
Nizwa and Ad Dakhiliyah 2–3 days Hatta – Al Wajajah or Mezyad – Hafeet
Sur and Ash Sharqiyah 2–4 days Hatta – Al Wajajah
Khasab (Musandam) 1–2 days From the Ras Al Khaimah side
Salalah (Dhofar) 3–5 days Hatta – Al Wajajah, then south

Salalah lies roughly 1,000 km south of Muscat, which is why it takes longer. If you are heading to Duqm, allow about 3–4 days.

Air freight from Dubai to Muscat

If something cannot wait, such as work documents, a spare part or a device you need on a fixed day, air freight from Dubai to Muscat International Airport usually takes one to two days including clearance. For destinations in Dhofar, the arrival airport is Salalah.

  • Air does not suit furniture: on large volumes it costs far more than road, and the road distance is short anyway.
  • The price is based on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.
  • Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted by air, so ask us before packing them.
  • Air rates depend on the parcel: send the details on WhatsApp and you will receive the price.

A quick example: a 60 × 50 × 40 cm carton has a volumetric weight of 20 kg, so if it actually weighs 8 kg it is charged at 20.

Packing: how we prepare an apartment for the road

The road from Dubai to Muscat is not long, but it crosses mountains and a border post, and the truck stops and starts several times. Good packing is what decides whether a wardrobe arrives the way it left or with a broken corner. We also keep in mind that the Omani coast is hot and humid, so we do not leave wooden pieces sealed in plastic directly against their surface for long.

  • Wood and polished furniture: moving blankets, then stretch film on the outside, with cardboard corner guards.
  • Mirrors, glass and glass tables: heavy cartons cut to size, carried upright.
  • Mattresses: special plastic covers that keep out dust and moisture.
  • Clothes: tall wardrobe boxes with hanging rails for coats and suits, regular cartons for the rest.
  • Plates and glassware: each piece wrapped in paper, with gaps filled.
  • Fridge: unplugged, emptied and dried a day before loading.

Every carton carries a number and the name of the room it goes to in your new home, and we send you the numbered list. The same list is used for clearance.

Documents needed to ship from Dubai to Oman

Personal effects and used furniture

  • A copy of your passport.
  • Your Omani residence card, or national ID if you are an Omani citizen.
  • A detailed contents list in Arabic or English.

Used belongings of someone moving to live in Oman are treated as personal effects. If there are new items in commercial quantities, such as twenty identical appliances still in their boxes, they are treated as goods and are dutiable.

Commercial goods

  • Commercial invoice and packing list.
  • Certificate of origin. Goods of UAE (GCC) origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty.
  • The Omani consignee’s commercial registration.
  • Food, medicines and cosmetics have extra health requirements.

Note that Oman applies 5% VAT on imports, so even duty-free goods may still be liable for this tax.

Cars

  • Vehicle registration card (mulkiya).
  • UAE export certificate and plate cancellation.
  • A copy of the owner’s passport or ID.
  • The car completely empty of personal belongings.

What is prohibited and what needs a permit?

  • Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition without permits, counterfeit goods and gambling equipment.
  • Restricted: alcohol and pork products.
  • Prior permit needed: drones and some medicines.

Warning: If your home office includes a camera drone, do not pack it in a carton with everything else without telling us. Without a permit it can hold the whole shipment at the border, not just the drone.

Prices start from

Service Starts from
Furniture and household goods in a shared truck 90 AED per cubic metre
Small parcels by road 45 AED
Sedan on an open carrier 2,000 AED
SUV on an open carrier 2,750 AED
Car in an enclosed carrier (sports/luxury) 4,100 AED
Dedicated truck, air freight, containers Send the details on WhatsApp and you will receive the price

The final price depends on volume, weight, the city in Oman, packing and documents. A one-bedroom flat with a home office is very different from a three-bedroom flat, so we ask for photos first and then give you a clear figure.

Want a quick estimate? You can also fill in the quote request form.

What pushes the cost up or down?

  • Volume in cubic metres: the main factor in a shared truck.
  • Shared or dedicated: a dedicated truck costs more but leaves on your day without waiting for anyone else.
  • City in Oman: Muscat and Al Batinah are closer than Sur and Salalah.
  • Packing: full packing of furniture and appliances adds cost but protects things worth more than the packing.
  • Floor and service lift: a tower with short loading hours may need a larger crew to finish on time.
  • Car carrier type: enclosed costs more than open.

Delivery in Muscat and the other governorates

Most of our Dubai shipments end in Muscat, especially in Al Qurum, Al Khuwair and Madinat Sultan Qaboos, where many of the flats rented by people relocating from Dubai are found. We also deliver to Al Ghubrah, Al Mawaleh, Al Khoudh, Bausher, Al Amerat, Seeb, Ruwi, Muttrah, Al Ansab and Ghala.

Some Muscat buildings also have a watchman and set times for loading and unloading, so ask your new landlord before arrival day, and tell us whether the lift is big enough for the sofa or wardrobe. Outside Muscat we deliver to Sohar, Shinas and Barka, Al Buraimi and Ibri, Nizwa, Sur, Khasab, Duqm and Salalah. In Salalah in particular, if delivery falls in the humid khareef season, we pack to keep moisture away from wood and electronics.

Tips before loading day

  • Book the service lift early; some towers fill their slots days in advance.
  • Empty drawers of important papers, jewellery and cash and keep them with you.
  • Photograph expensive devices while they are switched on and working, before packing.
  • Tell the crew about any valuable or sentimental piece so it gets special packing.
  • Ask the team about optional insurance if the shipment includes high-value items.
  • Do not drive around in a car awaiting shipment once its plates are cancelled; coordinate the timing with the team.

Warning: Do not buy a used car in Dubai to ship to Oman before sending us its year and specifications. The age limit and Omani specification checks can stop it being registered there, and the loss comes after shipping, not before.
