If you need a shipping company from Sharjah to Oman to move tiles or sanitary ware for a project, stock for a shop in Muttrah or Ruwi, or your own pickup, the direct answer is that road freight is the normal route: the truck leaves Sharjah and crosses into Oman without the load ever going on a ship. At Al Basmah International Shipping we collect from our branch in Industrial Area 18 or from your warehouse or site, prepare the commercial paperwork and pick the crossing that suits your destination. For east-coast loads the nearest is usually Khatmat Malaha toward Shinas and Sohar. A load typically reaches Sohar and Al Batinah in about 1–2 days and Muscat in about 1–3 days, clearance included.

- Approximate timing: Sohar and Shinas 1–2 days, Muscat 1–3 days, Salalah 3–5 days.

What we ship from Sharjah to Oman
Most of what leaves Sharjah for Oman is commercial: building and finishing materials for contractors and housing projects, and stock for wholesale and retail shops in Muscat, Sohar and Nizwa. Alongside that we move household and office furniture for people relocating to Oman for work, cars (pickups in particular) and small parcels. Each type needs its own truck, packing and paperwork, and we sort that out before loading:
- Building and finishing materials: tiles, ceramics and porcelain, marble and granite, basins, toilets and mixers, aluminium doors and windows, electrical and plumbing supplies.
- Shop goods: clothing and fabrics, household items, electronics and accessories, auto spare parts, packaging and restaurant supplies.
- Light equipment: small generators, sewing machines, shelving and display fittings.
- Furniture: apartments, villas and offices, with dismantling, packing and reassembly.
- Vehicles: pickups, sedans and 4x4s on enclosed or open carriers.
- Parcels: personal cartons and trade samples by road or air.
Building materials for Omani projects on flatbeds
Tiles and marble are heavy for their size, so the truck is planned by weight before volume. A single pallet of tiles can weigh more than a tonne, so we work out how many pallets a flatbed or dyna can legally carry. Pallets are stacked carefully, strapped down and covered with a tarpaulin against dust and the humidity of the Batinah coast. Basins and sanitary ware go in wooden crates or reinforced cartons with padding, because ceramic cracks from vibration more often than from pressure.
Before departure we ask about the delivery site in Oman: is there a forklift or an unloading crew? Can a large truck reach the plot? On outlying projects in areas such as Al Amerat or Barka we may need a smaller dyna for the last stretch. Sorting this out in advance saves a day of waiting at the gate.

Shop goods for Muttrah, Ruwi and Muscat markets
Sharjah traders have long supplied the shops of Muttrah and Ruwi with clothing, fabrics and household goods. These loads are usually mixed: many items, cartons of every size. We number each carton and list that number on the packing list against its item and quantity, because Omani customs may ask to open a particular carton, and numbering makes that quick. We also ask for the Omani consignee’s commercial registration before loading; without it commercial goods stop at the border.
If your stock is less than a truckload, it travels in a shared load with other traders’ goods and you pay by volume. If it is seasonal stock tied to an opening date or Eid, a dedicated truck leaves on the day you choose.
Collection areas in Sharjah
We collect from any address in Sharjah, or you can bring the shipment to our branch in Industrial Area 18. The areas we most often load from for Oman:
- Industrial areas: Industrial Areas 1 to 18, Al Sajaa and Abu Shagara, home to building-material and spare-parts warehouses.
- Free zones: Hamriyah Free Zone and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, with the free-zone exit paperwork arranged.
- Residential areas: Al Nahda, Al Taawun, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Al Qasimia, Al Yarmook, Muwaileh, Al Rahmaniya, University City, Al Tay.
- East coast: Kalba, Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al Hisn; Kalba is minutes from the Khatmat Malaha crossing.
- Central region: Al Dhaid, Al Madam and Mleiha farms and stores.
If your goods are split between Sharjah and Dubai or Ajman, we combine them on one trip. For tower apartment moves next door, see the Ajman to Oman shipping guide.
The road from Sharjah to Oman and the right crossing
Trucks usually take one of two routes. The first heads to the east coast, then Kalba and the Khatmat Malaha crossing, continuing to Shinas, Liwa and Sohar along the Batinah coastal road; it suits projects in Sohar and North Al Batinah. The second runs via Hatta and the Al Wajajah crossing, a more direct line to Barka, Seeb and Muscat. Interior destinations such as Ibri may be better served through Mezyad – Hafeet near Al Ain, and Musandam is reached from the Ras Al Khaimah side.
We do not promise a particular crossing before we know the destination and the crossings’ arrangements on the day; the team chooses the one that suits both. At the border the UAE exit formalities are completed, the declaration is lodged on the Omani side through the electronic Bayan system, anything that needs inspecting is inspected, and the truck continues.
Khatmat Malaha is also the crossing used for east-coast shipments; details for that side are in the Fujairah to Oman shipping guide.
How long does a shipment from Sharjah to Oman take?
These road transit times are approximate, from collection to delivery, including border clearance:
| Destination in Oman | Approx. time | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Sohar and Shinas (Al Batinah) | 1–2 days | Closest via Khatmat Malaha |
| Muscat | 1–3 days | Via Al Wajajah or Khatmat Malaha |
| Al Buraimi | 1–2 days | Usually via the Al Ain side |
| Nizwa and Ad Dakhiliyah | 2–3 days | Mountain road at the end |
| Sur and Ash Sharqiyah | 2–4 days | Long run beyond Muscat |
| Khasab (Musandam) | 1–2 days from the RAK side | Separate route from mainland Oman |
| Duqm | 3–4 days | Special economic zone projects |
| Salalah (Dhofar) | 3–5 days | About 1,000 km south of Muscat |
A shared load may wait a few extra days for the truck to fill, while a dedicated truck leaves on your date. Missing documents delay clearance more often than the road itself.
Air freight from Sharjah to Oman
Air freight is for things that cannot wait: a spare part for idle equipment on site, tile samples an owner needs to approve, original documents, or light, valuable stock for a shop. It flies from Sharjah or Dubai to Muscat International Airport, or to Salalah airport for Dhofar, and usually takes 1–2 days including clearance.
- Charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.
- Example: a 60 × 50 × 40 cm carton has a volumetric weight of 20 kg, so if it actually weighs 12 kg it is charged as 20.
- Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted by air and need checking before booking.
- Furniture and heavy building materials do not suit air; it costs far more and road delivers soon enough.

Air prices are set per shipment: send the details on WhatsApp and we will reply with the price.
Pickup and car shipping from Sharjah to Oman
The pickup is the vehicle we ship most often from Sharjah to Oman, because many contractors and workshop owners need their own truck there. We load it inside an enclosed car carrier, so it arrives clear of dust and flying gravel on the long road, strapped at the wheels. A sedan or 4×4 that does not need full protection can go on an open multi-car carrier for less.

Empty the pickup bed and the cab of personal belongings and tools; the vehicle travels empty. If you want to send tools too, they go as a separate consignment with their own list. We photograph the vehicle from every side at collection and send you the photos on WhatsApp.
Oman usually limits imported used passenger cars to about 7 years from the manufacture date, and classic cars need traffic-authority approval. Before booking, the team checks the current conditions for your specific vehicle, so you do not pay to move a car that cannot be registered.
Packing for each type of load
- Tiles and marble: wooden pallets, corner guards, tight stretch wrap and separators between slabs.
- Sanitary ware and glass: wooden crates or double-wall cartons with padding.
- Shop goods: cartons numbered to match the packing list, heavy items at the bottom.
- Furniture: dismantled and wrapped in bubble film and blankets, with wood and marble surfaces covered.
- Electronics: original boxes where available, or reinforced cartons with foam.
The Omani coast is hot and humid, and Salalah has its damp khareef season, so we add moisture absorbers with fabrics, leather and appliances and avoid leaving cartons on wet ground at delivery.
Documents for shipping to Oman
Omani customs clears shipments electronically through the Bayan system. Goods of UAE or GCC origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty, and Oman applies 5% VAT on imports. Goods of non-GCC origin, such as imported tiles re-exported from Sharjah, may be dutiable, and the team reviews this with you before loading.
Commercial goods and building materials
- Commercial invoice with items, quantities and values.
- Packing list with carton or pallet numbers.
- Certificate of origin (GCC for duty exemption).
- Commercial registration of the Omani consignee.
- Food, medicines and cosmetics carry extra health requirements.
Personal effects and used furniture
- Passport copy.
- Omani residence card, or national ID for citizens.
- Detailed contents list in Arabic or English.
- New items in commercial quantities are dutiable.
Cars and pickups
- Vehicle registration (mulkiya).
- UAE export certificate and plate cancellation.
- Owner’s passport or ID.
- Vehicle empty of belongings and meeting Omani specifications to pass inspection and be registered.
Prohibited and restricted items
We do not ship narcotics, weapons or ammunition without permits, counterfeit goods or gambling equipment. Alcohol and pork products are restricted. Drones and some medicines need prior permits. With building materials, watch out for chemicals such as some flammable solvents and adhesives; we review these before they go on the truck.
Sharjah to Oman shipping prices
These are starting points; the final price depends on volume, weight, city, packing and documents:
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Furniture and goods in a shared truck | Starts from 90 AED per cubic metre |
| Small parcels by road | Start from 45 AED |
| Sedan on an open carrier | Starts from 2,000 AED |

What raises or lowers the cost?
- Weight in building materials: tiles fill a truck’s payload before they fill its space.
- Truck type: shared is cheaper; dedicated is faster and leaves on your date.
- City: Sohar is closer than Muscat; Salalah and Duqm are much further.
- Packing: wooden crates for sanitary ware and glass add cost but prevent breakage.
- Origin: non-GCC goods may attract customs duty.
- Unloading: sites that need labour, a forklift or a small dyna for the last stretch.

Tips before shipping your goods to Oman
Ask the consignee in Oman for a copy of their commercial registration before you book the truck, not after loading. A load parked at the border waiting for one missing paper loses a day or more for nothing.
- Describe every item clearly on the invoice; “assorted goods” slows clearance.
- Keep the GCC certificate of origin for UAE-made goods; it is what exempts you from duty.
- For building materials, ask the site to prepare the unloading spot and equipment before the truck arrives.
- Ask the team about optional insurance for valuable goods.
Warning: Do not put commercial goods among personal effects or inside a vehicle being shipped. Personal effects follow different procedures, and mixing them with trade goods can get the whole load held for inspection.
Delivery inside Oman
In Muscat we deliver to Ruwi, Muttrah, Al Khuwair, Al Qurum, Al Ghubrah, Bausher, Al Amerat, Seeb, Al Mawaleh, Al Khoudh, Ghala, Al Ansab and Madinat Sultan Qaboos. The old streets and souq of Muttrah are tight for big trucks, so we usually unload at a nearby point and take the goods to the shop door in a small dyna. In Ruwi we try to book delivery away from rush hours.

Outside Muscat we deliver to Sohar, Shinas, Liwa, Barka and Al Musannah in Al Batinah, to Al Buraimi, Ibri, Nizwa and Bahla in Ad Dakhiliyah, Sur and Ibra in Ash Sharqiyah, Duqm, Salalah in Dhofar and Khasab in Musandam. Very large commercial loads can go by sea from Sharjah’s ports to Sohar or Salalah, and to Duqm for project cargo, but from Sharjah the road is simpler in most cases.
For the full picture across every emirate see the UAE to Oman shipping guide, and for loads leaving via Hatta the Dubai to Oman guide. If you also have goods for the Kingdom, see shipping from Sharjah to Saudi Arabia.
Frequently asked questions about Sharjah to Oman shipping
How many days from Sharjah to Muscat?
About 1–3 days by road including clearance; Sohar is closer at about 1–2 days. A shared load may wait a few extra days to fill.
Do I pay customs on building materials shipped from Sharjah?
Goods of UAE or GCC origin with a GCC certificate of origin are duty-exempt, with 5% VAT in Oman. Goods imported from outside the GCC may be dutiable; we check this with you before shipping.
Does the consignee in Oman need a commercial registration?
Yes, for commercial goods. We ask for the Omani consignee’s commercial registration together with the invoice, packing list and certificate of origin before loading.
Which crossing do you use from Sharjah?
Usually Khatmat Malaha toward Shinas and Sohar, or Hatta – Al Wajajah toward Muscat. The team chooses based on the destination and the crossings’ arrangements at the time.
Do you ship pickups in an enclosed carrier?
Yes, from 4,100 AED on an enclosed carrier. The team first checks Oman’s age and specification conditions for your vehicle.
Can you deliver inside Muttrah souq?
Yes. We unload near the souq and take the goods to the shop door in a small dyna, because its streets are too tight for large trucks.
How do I know where my shipment is?
There is no online system for this; the team sends you updates on WhatsApp at each stage: collection, departure, crossing and delivery.
Can I ship a small quantity without booking a whole truck?
Yes, in a shared load from 90 AED per cubic metre, and small parcels from 45 AED.
