Shipping Company from UAE to Yemen Furniture, Goods and Car Shipping by Road via Oman, Sea and Air to Every Yemeni City
Guide summary

Shipping from any emirate to Yemen? We move household furniture, shop stock and cars by road through Oman in roughly 7 to 14 days, by sea to Aden and Mukalla, or by air for urgent parcels, to every Yemeni city.

If you are looking for a shipping company from UAE to Yemen that collects your things from your door in any emirate and delivers them in your city there, Al Basmah International Shipping moves furniture, goods and cars three ways: by road in closed trucks through the Sultanate of Oman and the Al Mazyunah–Shahan crossing, by sea from Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to Aden or Mukalla, and by air for urgent parcels and documents. Road is the most requested option for household goods and shop stock and takes roughly 7 to 14 days door to door depending on the city. Sea suits a full home, a car or commercial containers, at roughly two to four weeks. Send your shipment details on WhatsApp +971557643821 and you will receive the price along with the best route for it.

Your shipment’s road to Yemen

  • Pickup: from every emirate — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain.
  • Road via Oman: closed trucks to the Al Mazyunah crossing, then Shahan in Al Mahra; roughly 7–14 days to the door.
  • Sea: Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to Aden or Mukalla; roughly 2–4 weeks to the door.
  • Air: usually a few days, for parcels, documents and light urgent items.
  • Branches: Dubai – Deira – Port Saeed Street, and Sharjah – Industrial Area 18.
  • Follow-up: orders are taken on WhatsApp around the clock, and the team sends you an update at every stage.

Many of the people who contact us are families heading back to Yemen after years in the Emirates, with a whole home’s furniture they would rather not give up. Others are traders sending stock to their shops in Aden, Mukalla or Taiz every month or two. This guide is written for both: it explains the three routes with their timings and what each one suits, lists the cities we deliver to, and covers documents, prohibited items, and what pushes the price up or down.

What do we ship from the UAE to Yemen?

We ship anything that is allowed into Yemen: household furniture and family belongings, electrical appliances, all kinds of shop goods, cars and small parcels. Yemen runs on 220–230 V at 50 Hz, the same as the UAE, so the fridge, washing machine and air conditioner you use here will work there without converters.

  • Bedroom sets, Arabic majlis seating, sofas, dining tables and wardrobes.
  • Fridges, washing machines, air conditioners, ovens and TVs.
  • Clothes, bedding, rugs, curtains and kitchenware.
  • Commercial goods: ready-made clothing, shoes, household items, electronics, car spare parts, packaging materials, salon and restaurant supplies.
  • Online-store purchases you have collected in the UAE and want to send in one go.
  • Private cars, after a check against the import conditions.
  • Parcels, gifts and documents.

Families going back home to Yemen

When a family wraps up its years in the UAE, the first question is what to take and what to sell. Our advice: take what is hard or expensive to buy there — good large appliances, solid wooden bedroom sets, majlis seating, a well-kept kitchen. Worn-out or cheaply made pieces can cost nearly as much to ship as to buy new. We collect the whole home, dismantle what needs dismantling, write the contents list with you, and load everything into a closed truck or a container depending on its volume and the city you are going to.

Traders and shop owners

A trader cares about two things: that the goods arrive complete, and that the paperwork is clean so nothing is held at the border. Many traders buy from several suppliers in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, so we collect from each supplier separately and consolidate the goods into one shipment, then review the commercial invoice and packing list with you before loading. Regular shippers benefit from a stable route and timing, so they know when to order the next batch.

Pickup from every emirate

We collect from any emirate, and our team comes to the home, warehouse or shop. If you prefer to bring your things yourself, our branches are in Dubai – Deira – Port Saeed Street, and in Sharjah – Industrial Area 18. These are some of the areas we collect from regularly:

  • Dubai: Deira, Naif, Al Qusais, Karama, Al Barsha, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai Marina, Jebel Ali Free Zone. (For Dubai specifics, see our shipping company from Dubai to Yemen guide.)
  • Sharjah: the industrial areas, Al Nahda, Al Qasimia, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Muwaileh.
  • Ajman: Al Nuaimia, Al Jurf, Al Rashidiya and the industrial area.
  • Abu Dhabi: Mussafah, Shakhbout, Khalifa City, Baniyas and the Khalifa Port area.
  • Al Ain: Al Jimi, Al Hili, Al Mutawaa and the industrial area.
  • Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah: the pickup time is arranged with the team and combined with nearby shipments where possible.

Where you are sometimes changes the arrangements, not the service. From Abu Dhabi, Khalifa Port may be the closer port for a sea shipment, while from Dubai and Sharjah it is usually Jebel Ali. From Al Ain the Omani border is close, so a road truck starts heading south without a long drive inside the UAE. For families in the northern emirates we try to combine their belongings with other shipments leaving the same area, so a small shipment does not carry the cost of a separate run to the warehouse. Either way, you get the price and the approximate timing on WhatsApp before loading, so you know what you pay and when to expect your things.

The three ways to ship from the UAE to Yemen

The short answer: road for most household goods and stock, sea for a full home in a container, cars and commercial containers, and air for light urgent items. The team suggests the right method for your shipment at booking and confirms the delivery city and its route with you.

Road freight through the Sultanate of Oman

The closed truck leaves the UAE into Oman, then heads south to Dhofar governorate past the Salalah area, and on to the Al Mazyunah border post on the Omani side, crossing to Shahan on the Yemeni side in Al Mahra governorate. From there the shipment continues inside Yemen: Al Ghaydah first, then Mukalla, Seiyun and the Hadramout valley, and on to Aden, Taiz and the other cities. It takes roughly 7 to 14 days door to door — shortest for Al Mahra and Hadramout, longest for cities far from the border. The key condition is complete documents for every border the truck crosses, because anything missing means waiting at the crossing.

Many families prefer road because their things are loaded once in the UAE and hardly unloaded until they reach the house, with no port handling, and it is quicker than sea. If you also need to ship within Oman itself, see the UAE to Oman shipping guide.

Sea freight to Aden or Mukalla

By sea, the shipment is loaded into a 20 ft or 40 ft container at Jebel Ali in Dubai or Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi and sails for several days to Aden or Mukalla. Then come port handling and clearance, and a truck takes it on to the delivery city. The whole process takes roughly two to four weeks. Sea is the natural choice for anyone filling a container with a whole villa, sending a car, or importing a large commercial quantity, because a full container costs less than shipping by the cubic metre. It also suits very heavy items such as generators and equipment, which are lifted by crane at the port without repeated handling.

Road, sea and air compared

Method Approx. time to the door Best for Notes
Road via Oman 7–14 days Household goods, shop stock, medium shipments Closed truck, Al Mazyunah–Shahan crossing, documents for each border
Sea to Aden or Mukalla 2–4 weeks A full villa, cars, commercial containers 20 ft or 40 ft container, then trucking from the port to the city
Air Usually a few days Urgent parcels, documents, light items Not for furniture; charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher

If your things are less than a container and you are not in a hurry, road is usually both the cheaper and the faster option. If you fill a container or have a car with you, ask the team about sea.

Shared load or a full truck or container?

Not everyone shipping to Yemen needs a whole truck. If you have twenty or thirty boxes and a few pieces of furniture, they travel as part of a shared (groupage) load that combines several customers’ goods heading to the same region, and you pay only for your volume. For a flat of three bedrooms or more, or a whole shop’s stock, a dedicated truck or container loaded at your door and opened at the consignee’s is usually better.

  • Shared load: suits small and medium quantities and costs less, but the loading date depends on the load being completed.
  • Dedicated truck or container: suits a full home and large goods, with a clearer date and nothing mixed with other people’s goods.

If you are not sure how much you have, send photos of the rooms on WhatsApp; the team estimates the volume in cubic metres and tells you which option fits.

Air freight from the UAE to Yemen

Air freight leaves from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airport for Aden airport, or for the nearest airport the team confirms at booking, and usually arrives within a few days. It is for things that cannot wait: official papers, spare parts that a job depends on, suitable gifts, or light stock a shop needs quickly.

  • Not suitable for: furniture and large appliances — they cost far more by air than by road.
  • Restricted: loose lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes, each with its own packing and quantity rules.
  • How it is charged: by actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.

Example: a 60 × 40 × 40 cm box weighing 9 kg has a volumetric weight of 96,000 ÷ 6000 = 16 kg, so it is charged as 16 kg. That is why we always suggest boxes sized to their contents with no spare air.

Yemeni cities we deliver to and their routes

We deliver to Yemen’s main cities and their surroundings, and the team confirms the delivery city and route at booking. The table shows the usual route for each area:

Area Example districts and towns Usual route Note
Aden Crater, Al Mansoura, Khor Maksar, Al Sheikh Othman Road via Oman, or sea to Aden port Air to Aden airport for urgent items
Mukalla and Hadramout Mukalla, Seiyun, the Hadramout valley Road via Al Mazyunah–Shahan, or sea to Mukalla port One of the shortest road routes
Al Mahra Al Ghaydah Road, first stop after Shahan Shortest road transit
Taiz and Ibb Taiz, Ibb Road to the door, or sea via Aden then truck Cooler highlands; take care with sensitive devices
Sanaa and the north Sanaa, Dhamar Mostly road Route confirmed with the team at booking
Hodeidah Hodeidah Mostly road Hot, humid coast; moisture-proof packing
Shabwa and Marib Ataq, Marib Road from Hadramout Delivery time arranged with the consignee in advance

Crossing at Al Mazyunah – Shahan

Al Mazyunah lies in the wilayat of the same name in Oman’s Dhofar governorate, facing the Shahan crossing in Yemen’s Al Mahra governorate. It is the crossing used by trucks coming from the UAE through Oman. At the border the shipment’s documents and contents list are checked, which is why we make sure the list is detailed and matches what is in the truck; when the paperwork and the load agree, the crossing goes through without stopping.

Arriving at Aden or Mukalla port

For sea freight, the container is discharged at Aden or Mukalla, goes through handling and clearance, and is then loaded onto a truck to the address. We ask the consignee in Yemen to keep their phone available and to hold a copy of the documents, because calling them is the first step after the container is unpacked.

Heat, humidity and the highlands

Aden, Mukalla and Hodeidah are hot, humid coastal cities, and humidity is hard on wood, fabrics and electronics left in ordinary cardboard. Sanaa, Ibb and Dhamar are cooler highlands, and the road there is long and dusty. So packing depends on the destination: moisture barrier bags and absorbent sachets for the coast, and tightly sealed wrapping against dust for the mountain cities.

Packing furniture and belongings for a long road

The trip from the UAE to Yemen is long, by road through Oman or by sea, and good packing decides whether your things arrive the way they left. This is how we work:

  • Bedroom sets and wardrobes are dismantled, with screws in numbered bags tied to each piece.
  • Wood is wrapped in blankets and then heavy-duty plastic, with cardboard corner guards.
  • Double-wall boxes for dishes and glass, with paper and bubble wrap between every piece.
  • Fridges and washing machines are fully drained and dried before wrapping so they do not go mouldy inside.
  • Moisture barrier bags for mattresses, clothes and bedding, especially for coastal cities.
  • Each box is labelled with its room to make unpacking in the new home easy.

You are welcome to pack some things yourself, but leave the wooden furniture and large appliances to our team; they are the items most likely to be damaged on long routes.

Car shipping from the UAE to Yemen

We ship cars inside a closed container by sea, or on an enclosed carrier by road through Oman, so the car is kept out of the dust and sun the whole way. Before any booking, though, we check your car against the current conditions for importing used cars into Yemen, because those conditions exist and they change, and we do not want a car to reach the border only to be turned back. Send us the make, model year and a photo of the registration card on WhatsApp, and the team will tell you whether it can be shipped and by which route.

  • Remove personal belongings from the car before shipping, unless agreed otherwise with the team.
  • About a quarter tank of fuel is enough.
  • Photograph the car from every side before handing it over.
  • Get the export certificate from the licensing authority in your emirate before the appointment.

Documents needed to ship to Yemen

Documents depend on the type of shipment, and the team reviews your case before loading. These are the basic lists:

Personal effects and household furniture

  • A copy of the owner’s passport.
  • A detailed contents list, preferably in Arabic.
  • The consignee’s name, phone number and address in Yemen.

How personal effects are treated at customs varies from case to case, and we do not promise any exemption; the team reviews your situation and explains what to expect.

Commercial goods

  • Commercial invoice.
  • Packing list with the number of boxes, contents and weight.
  • Certificate of origin.
  • Details of the importer or consignee in Yemen.

Some goods have extra requirements, and the team checks the requirements for yours before booking.

Cars

  • Registration card and export certificate.
  • A copy of the owner’s passport.
  • Consignee details in Yemen.

Prohibited and restricted items

No shipment to Yemen can carry narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods or alcohol. Some items ship only with a permit, including drones, satellite and wireless communication devices, and certain medicines.

Warning: do not put cash, gold, jewellery or irreplaceable papers inside the boxes, or anything you have not written on the contents list. One undeclared item can hold up the whole shipment at the border.

Shipping prices from the UAE to Yemen

Each shipment is priced on its own, because a small flat’s belongings going to Mukalla are nothing like a container of stock going to Aden. Send the details on WhatsApp and you will receive the price: what the items are, how many or a few photos, the emirate we collect from, and the city in Yemen. By road the price is usually based on volume in cubic metres or your share of the truck; by sea on container size, or per cubic metre for shared loads; and by air on actual or volumetric kilograms.

What decides the price?

Factor How it affects the price
Method: road, sea or air Air costs the most per kilo; road is usually the best value for medium shipments; sea is best value once a container is full.
Volume or container size The bigger the volume, the lower the cost per cubic metre; a full 40 ft container is cheaper per metre than a 20 ft.
Delivery city Al Mahra and Hadramout are closest to the border; farther cities add inland transport.
Packing Full dismantling and packing of furniture differs from collecting ready-packed boxes.
Documents A commercial shipment needs more paperwork than personal effects.
Car Its type and size, and whether it ships alone in a container or with furniture.

  7. The consignee receives the goods at the agreed address and checks them before signing.

Tips before you ship to Yemen

  • Get in touch at least two weeks before you leave, so you are not forced into a rushed shipment that costs more.
  • Choose a consignee in Yemen who is easy to reach, and send them a copy of the list.
  • Never write “miscellaneous items” on the list; write each item and its quantity.
  • Keep important documents, gold and cash with you in your travel bag.
  • Ask the team about optional insurance if your shipment is high in value.
  • For a coastal destination, ask for extra moisture protection for fabrics and appliances.

If you have relatives or partners in the Kingdom and want to send part of your things to them, that route is different; see the UAE to Saudi Arabia shipping guide.

Mistakes that hold a shipment to Yemen up

Most delays we see come not from the road but from small details before loading: an incomplete contents list, a consignee name that does not match their passport, a phone switched off when the shipment arrives, or an electronic device packed in a box without being listed. In commercial shipping, it is often an invoice that does not match the real box count. Go over these points with the team before loading day; they save days at the border or the port.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from the UAE to Yemen

How long does shipping from the UAE to Yemen take?

By road through Oman, roughly 7 to 14 days door to door depending on the city; by sea to Aden or Mukalla, roughly two to four weeks; by air, usually a few days. The team confirms the expected time for your shipment at booking.

What is the cheapest way to ship household goods to Yemen?

For medium shipments road is usually the best value; if your things fill a whole container, sea can work out cheaper per cubic metre. Send photos and we will compare for you.

Do you collect from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah?

Yes, we collect from every emirate, and the time is arranged with the team on WhatsApp.

Which border do the trucks use to enter Yemen?

The usual road route passes the Al Mazyunah crossing in Oman’s Dhofar and then Shahan in Al Mahra, from where the shipment continues to its city.

Can I ship my car to Yemen?

The team checks your car against the current import conditions before booking; if it qualifies, it ships in a closed container or on an enclosed carrier.

How do I know where my shipment is?

The team sends you WhatsApp updates at each stage from departure to delivery, and you can ask at any time.

Do I need to travel with the shipment?

No. It is enough to have a consignee in Yemen with full details and a copy of the documents.

Do you ship electrical appliances?

Yes, and Yemen uses the same voltage as the UAE, so appliances work straight away. We only ask that they are drained of water and listed by quantity.

Are your things ready to go to Yemen?

Send photos and the city you are heading to, and you will receive the price and the best route from whichever emirate you are in.
