Shipping Company from UAE to Jordan
Guide summary

Furniture, car and cargo shipping from every emirate to Amman and all Jordanian cities, by road via Saudi Arabia and Al Omari in about 6–10 days, by sea to Aqaba, or by air for urgent items, with customs paperwork prepared.

If you need a shipping company from UAE to Jordan, the route most shipments take is by road: a truck is loaded at your home or warehouse in Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi, crosses Saudi Arabia in sealed customs transit, enters Jordan at the Al Omari border and reaches Amman or any other city in roughly six to ten days including clearance. At Al Basmah International Shipping we collect furniture, cars, commercial goods and personal belongings from every emirate, pack them, prepare the paperwork and deliver to the door in Jordan, with a WhatsApp update from the team at every stage.

This guide is for first-time shippers and for anyone who has shipped before and wants to avoid a problem they ran into. It covers the route in detail, approximate transit times for each Jordanian city, when sea freight via Aqaba or air freight to Queen Alia Airport makes more sense than road, what Jordan Customs asks of returning Jordanians, traders and car owners, and how the price is worked out.

Before shipping to Jordan

  • Road freight through Saudi Arabia is the main option for furniture and goods: Al Ghuwaifat to Al Batha, then Al Haditha and the Al Omari border.
  • Approximate transit is 6–9 days to Amman, Zarqa and Salt, and 7–10 days to Irbid, Karak and Aqaba.
  • Full containers and heavy cargo may cost less by sea from Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to Aqaba.
  • Air freight is for urgent, light items only and usually arrives in 2–4 days.
  • A returning Jordanian who lived abroad for more than 12 months can usually import used personal effects duty-free, once per family.
  • The price depends on volume, city and type of shipment: send the details on WhatsApp and the price comes back to you.

What do we ship from the UAE to Jordan?

We ship everything that moves between two homes or two businesses: household and villa furniture, personal effects and boxes, cars, commercial goods, equipment and materials. Each type has its own loading method and paperwork, which is why the first thing we ask about is what you are sending.

Household furniture

Dismantling, packing and loading of apartment and villa furniture, bedrooms, majlis sets, kitchens and appliances, with reassembly in the new home on request.

Returning families

The shipment of a Jordanian family ending its residence in the UAE: clothes, books, kitchenware and appliances, with the detailed contents list customs needs.

Car shipping

Sedans, 4x4s and family cars in enclosed carriers, after checking that the model year and specifications meet Jordan’s import conditions.

Commercial goods

Parcels, pallets and full loads for Jordanian shops and companies, shared or on a dedicated truck, with invoice and certificate of origin.

Small loads

A few boxes or suitcases added to a shared load heading to Jordan, so you do not pay for a whole truck.

Equipment and materials

Industrial tools, building materials, ceramics and spare parts, loaded on the truck that suits their weight.

If your shipment leaves from a particular emirate, you may find its specifics in the Dubai to Jordan shipping guide or the Sharjah to Jordan shipping guide, which list pickup areas and the shipments most requested from each emirate.

Where do we collect in the UAE?

We collect from any address in the country, and shipments are consolidated at our two branches before loading on the Jordan-bound truck. Our first branch is in Dubai — Deira, Port Saeed Street, and the second is in Sharjah — Industrial Area 18; the team goes out from both to homes and warehouses.

  • Dubai: Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Qusais, Al Nahda, Al Barsha, Al Jaddaf, Mirdif, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Business Bay, and warehouses in Al Quoz, Jebel Ali and the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).
  • Sharjah: Al Taawun, Al Majaz, Al Nahda, Al Khan, Al Qasimia, the industrial areas and Sharjah Airport Free Zone (SAIF Zone).
  • Abu Dhabi and Al Ain: Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Al Reem, Al Shamkha, Musaffah and the industrial area, and in Al Ain Al Jimi, Al Towayya and Zakher. Details are in the Abu Dhabi to Jordan guide and the Al Ain to Jordan guide.
  • Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah: apartments, villas and warehouses, plus free zones such as Hamriyah Free Zone and the RAK Economic Zone.

How does the truck travel from the UAE to Jordan?

The truck travels by road through Saudi Arabia without being unloaded there. It leaves the UAE at the Al Ghuwaifat border and enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha, where the load is sealed and registered in transit, meaning the goods pass through Saudi territory without being cleared into it. It then heads to Riyadh, north through Qassim and Al Jouf to the Saudi Al Haditha crossing, which faces the Al Omari border on the Jordanian side, and from Al Omari on to Amman and the other cities.

  1. Collection, packing and loading in the UAE, and export paperwork.
  2. Exit at Al Ghuwaifat and entry into Saudi Arabia at Al Batha under transit.
  3. The crossing via Riyadh, Qassim and Al Jouf, the longest part of the trip.
  4. Exit at Al Haditha and entry into Jordan at Al Omari, where Jordanian customs procedures begin.
  5. Clearance, then the drive to the city and delivery at the address.

The distance from Dubai to Amman on this route is roughly 2,400–2,600 km. Distance is rarely what delays a shipment; what delays it is a missing document at Al Batha or Al Omari, because a sealed truck cannot continue until its paperwork is complete. That is why we check every document before the truck leaves the UAE, not after it reaches the border. For more on the Saudi leg of the road, see the UAE to Saudi Arabia shipping guide.

A shared load leaves when the truck fills with several customers’ shipments for Jordan; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you set. If you have a flat handover or a start date at work, mention it in your first message.

How long does shipping from the UAE to Jordan take?

A road shipment from the UAE to Jordan takes roughly 6 to 10 days door to door, including transit and customs clearance. Cities close to Amman are faster, and those further north and south take about a day more. These are approximate times that assume complete paperwork and a truck ready to leave.

City in Jordan Approximate road transit Note
Amman 6–9 days Hillside districts may need a smaller truck for the last leg
Zarqa and Salt 6–9 days Zarqa is next to Amman; Salt has steep mountain streets
Irbid and Mafraq 7–10 days Delivered after Amman or directly en route, depending on the load
Madaba and Karak 7–10 days South of Amman; the time is agreed with the receiver in advance
Aqaba 7–10 days Large shipments can also reach it directly by sea

A shared load may wait a few days in the UAE until the truck is full, and those days are not counted in the table. If time matters more than cost, a dedicated truck, or air freight for the urgent items, is the answer.

Road, sea via Aqaba or air: which suits your shipment?

Road suits most furniture, personal effects and medium-sized commercial shipments, because it goes door to door with no unloading and reloading. Sea freight via Aqaba suits full containers and heavy commercial cargo. Air suits only what is urgent and light.

Mode Approximate time Suits Does not suit
Road via Saudi Arabia 6–10 days Furniture, returning families’ effects, cars, medium cargo Shipments that must arrive within a few days
Sea to Aqaba 2–3 weeks sailing + port handling and clearance Full containers, heavy equipment, large cargo Small and urgent quantities
Air to Amman 2–4 days Documents, samples, spare parts, urgent items Furniture and heavy loads

When is sea freight via Aqaba the better choice?

Sea is better when you fill one or more full containers, or when the cargo is so heavy that road costs climb. The container is loaded at Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port and sails via the Red Sea to Aqaba, Jordan’s only commercial seaport. Sailing takes about two to three weeks, plus port handling and clearance, and the container then travels by road from Aqaba to Amman, Zarqa or any other city; Aqaba to Amman is roughly 330 km. For goods going to Aqaba itself, sea can make sense even for medium quantities.

Air freight from the UAE to Jordan

Air freight from the UAE to Jordan usually arrives in 2 to 4 days door to door, including clearance. Parcels fly from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airport to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and are then delivered to the address. It is the right choice for official papers, commercial samples, spare parts that are holding up work, and a suitcase someone needs before the rest of the shipment arrives by road.

  • Chargeable weight: the price uses actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.
  • Not for air: furniture, large appliances and heavy loads, which cost far more by air than they are worth.
  • Restricted items: loose lithium batteries, liquids, perfumes and aerosols face strict airline limits; we tell you what is accepted before packing.
  • Packing: sturdy boxes of sensible size, because a large light box raises the volumetric weight for nothing.

Moving and packing furniture from the UAE to Jordan

Furniture that travels more than two thousand kilometres needs packing that survives vibration and desert heat, and then the cold and rain of Jordan. We start by dismantling beds, wardrobes and tables; parts are numbered and screws go into bags labelled with the item’s name, so reassembly in Amman is quick and no small part goes missing.

  • Wood and glossy surfaces: bubble wrap, then corner boards, then a moving blanket or tight stretch film.
  • Glass, mirrors and paintings: made-to-size cardboard or wooden crates, marked fragile and this way up.
  • Sofas and mattresses: sealed plastic covers that keep out dust and rain during unloading.
  • Appliances: fridges and washing machines drained, moving parts secured, original boxes used where available.
  • Kitchenware: small, thick-walled boxes, since a big box full of plates breaks under its own weight.
  • Every box carries a number and room name, and the same number appears in the detailed contents list customs needs.

A full villa usually needs a dedicated truck or a 12–13.6 m closed trailer. A two- or three-bedroom flat may fit a 5- or 7-ton dyna, or space on a shared load. We decide after seeing photos or a video of the home.

What documents do you need to ship to Jordan?

The documents depend on the type of shipment: used personal effects, commercial goods or a car. Having everything ready before loading is the biggest factor in how fast the shipment arrives, because Jordan Customs clears shipments electronically and matches every document to what is on the truck.

Personal effects and used furniture for returning Jordanians

A Jordanian who has lived outside Jordan for more than 12 months can usually bring in used personal effects and furniture with an exemption, granted once per family registered in the same family book. The items must be used and for personal use, not new and not in commercial quantities. Because conditions can vary from case to case, the team checks your case before shipping, and the exemption is not guaranteed until customs approves it.

  • Passport copy showing the national number.
  • Proof that your UAE residence has ended, such as the cancelled residence.
  • A detailed contents list numbered by box and item.
  • The family book if the shipment belongs to a family.
  • An authorisation for the person receiving and clearing the shipment in Jordan, if the owner is not present.

Non-Jordanians, and anyone shipping new items or more than personal-use quantities, pay duties and taxes on the shipment; we explain this before loading so it does not come as a surprise at the border.

Commercial goods

Commercial goods need a commercial invoice, a packing list, a certificate of origin and the Jordanian importer’s details. Goods of UAE origin with a valid certificate of origin can usually benefit from the customs-duty exemption under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), but Jordan’s general sales tax, at a standard rate of 16%, and other fees still apply. Food, medicines and cosmetics need approval from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), and many electrical products need conformity from the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO), so ask the team about your specific goods before shipping.

Cars

Jordan sets conditions on imported cars covering age and specifications, and taxes that vary by engine and fuel type, and these rules change from time to time. The team therefore checks your car’s model year and specifications against Jordan’s current rules before shipping, so you do not end up with a car that cannot be registered. The usual documents are the ownership papers, the UAE export certificate with plate cancellation, the owner’s passport, and a car emptied of personal belongings.

Cars travel in enclosed carriers; each is photographed from every side at collection, the photos are sent to you on WhatsApp, and it is photographed again at delivery. That protects both you and us on any note about the car’s condition.

What items are prohibited or restricted for Jordan?

Some items are banned from entering Jordan entirely and others need a prior permit. A single such item can stop the whole truck at the border, not just your shipment.

  • Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition without permits, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment.
  • Prior permit needed: drones, some medicines, some wireless and communication devices.
  • Needs care: large quantities of food, plants and seeds, flammables and gas cylinders.

Warning: Do not put large quantities of medicine or a drone inside furniture boxes without telling the team. Any item missing from the list that turns up at inspection delays clearance for everyone.

How much does shipping from the UAE to Jordan cost?

There is no single price for shipping from the UAE to Jordan, because three boxes are not a villa and delivery in Amman is not delivery in Karak. Send the details on WhatsApp and the price comes back to you: the type of shipment, the emirate we collect from, the city in Jordan, and photos or a rough list of the items.

What decides the price of shipping to Jordan?

Factor How it affects the price
Volume in m³ The basis of road pricing; each extra cubic metre adds cost, so sorting before you ship saves a lot
Shared or dedicated truck Shared is cheaper but waits for the truck to fill; dedicated costs more and leaves on your date
City in Jordan Amman and Zarqa are closer; Irbid, Karak and Aqaba add distance
Access at the address High floors with no lift and narrow streets may need a smaller truck and extra crew
Packing, dismantling and assembly Full furniture packing costs differently from ready, sealed boxes
Documents and clearance Exempt personal effects differ from commercial goods with sales tax and approvals
Car type Size, weight and carrier type decide the car shipping price
Shipping mode Road, sea and air are priced differently; air by weight, sea by container

You can also ask the team about optional insurance on the shipment, which is added according to the value of the goods.

How to ship from the UAE to Jordan, step by step

  1. Message us on WhatsApp at +971557643821: what you are shipping, where it is in the UAE, the city in Jordan and the date you need.
  2. Send photos or a short video of the items or a list, or the car or cargo details, so we can work out volume and truck type.
  3. Get the price and agree the date; we tell you the documents your case needs.
  4. Prepare the documents and send copies before loading day; the truck does not leave until they are complete.
  5. On loading day the team arrives, dismantles, packs, numbers and loads, and we send you the final list.
  6. On the road you get WhatsApp updates on leaving the UAE, during transit, on reaching Al Omari and after clearance.
  7. Delivery to the address, assembly if requested, and a check of the items against the list.

Delivery inside Jordan: Amman and other cities

We deliver across Amman, including Abdoun, Dabouq, Khalda, Tla’ Al Ali, Sweifieh, Shmeisani, Jabal Amman, Marj Al Hamam, Abu Nseir and Tabarbour, and to Zarqa, Irbid, Salt, Madaba, Mafraq, Jerash, Ajloun, Karak and Aqaba.

Amman’s hills and access to the home

Amman is built on hills; many streets are steep and narrow, and some houses are reached by long flights of stairs. A large trailer cannot enter every district, so the shipment is sometimes moved to a smaller truck for the last leg and part of it is carried by hand. The team contacts the receiver before arrival to check street width, lift access and where the truck can stop, so delivery day holds no surprises.

Winter in Jordan

Jordan’s winters are cold and rainy, with occasional snow in Amman and the highlands, while summers are dry. For a winter delivery we wrap sofas, mattresses and appliances in plastic against rain during unloading, and try to time the unloading to avoid rain. Anyone moving from UAE heat to an Amman winter will be glad of winter clothes and blankets packed in boxes marked “open first”.

For cities further from Amman, such as Irbid and Mafraq in the north or Karak in the south, the time is agreed with the receiver in advance because the truck may deliver several addresses on the way. Aqaba is served by road, or directly by sea for large shipments.

Tips before shipping to Jordan

  • Sort your belongings first; anything you will not use in Jordan costs you truck space and then space at home.
  • Keep original documents, jewellery, cash and daily medicines with you, not in the shipment.
  • Do not mix commercial goods into personal effects you want to bring in exempt; it can cost the whole shipment its exemption.
  • If you are returning, cancel your UAE residence in good time so you have the document proving it has ended.
  • List every electrical appliance by type and number; they are the first thing asked about at inspection.
  • Give a working Jordanian phone number for the receiver; the last leg is coordinated directly with them.

Warning: Do not book your UAE flat handover for the same day as loading with no margin; loading can slip by hours because of a document or a truck. One spare day makes a big difference.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from the UAE to Jordan

Does the shipment pass through Saudi Arabia?

Yes. Road freight from the UAE to Jordan crosses Saudi Arabia in transit, meaning the load stays sealed and is not cleared in Saudi Arabia. It enters at Al Batha and exits at Al Haditha into Jordan’s Al Omari border.

How many days to Amman?

Roughly 6 to 9 days door to door including clearance, provided the documents are complete. A shared load may wait in the UAE until the truck is full.

Do I pay customs on my used furniture?

If you are a Jordanian who lived abroad for more than 12 months, you can usually use the one-time family exemption for used personal effects. Non-Jordanians, new items and commercial quantities are dutiable. The team checks your case before shipping.

Do UAE goods get a customs exemption in Jordan?

Goods of UAE origin with a certificate of origin can usually benefit from the GAFTA customs-duty exemption, but the general sales tax at its standard 16% rate and other fees still apply.

Can I ship my car from the UAE to Jordan?

Yes, in an enclosed carrier, after the team checks that the car’s model year and specifications meet Jordan’s current import rules. You need the ownership papers, export certificate with plate cancellation and the owner’s passport.

When should I choose sea freight via Aqaba?

When you fill a full container, the cargo is very heavy, or delivery is in Aqaba itself. Sailing takes about two to three weeks plus handling and clearance.

Is air freight suitable for furniture?

No. Air freight is for light, urgent items such as documents, samples and spare parts. Furniture costs far too much by air; road is the right mode for it.

How do I know where my shipment is?

The team sends you a WhatsApp update at each stage: loading, leaving the UAE, transit, arrival at Al Omari, clearance and then the delivery time.

Ready to ship your belongings to Jordan?

Send the type of shipment, where it is and the city in Jordan on WhatsApp, and you will get the price and the document list for your case. You can also fill in the quote request form.
