Looking for a shipping company from UAE to Syria that collects from your home or warehouse and delivers in Damascus, Aleppo or any other governorate? Al Basmah International Shipping collects from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Al Ain, and ships furniture, personal effects, commercial goods and parcels three ways: by road through Saudi Arabia and Jordan to the Nasib crossing, by sea from Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to Latakia and Tartus, or by air to Damascus for urgent shipments. Cars are shipped once the team has first confirmed the car can be imported under the current rules. Send the details on WhatsApp, the team suggests the right method, and you get the price.

Before shipping to Syria

  • Road is the usual way for household goods and mixed loads: roughly 2,800 to 3,000 km from Dubai, and about 8 to 14 days door to door including clearances.
  • Sea suits full containers and heavy cargo: Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to Latakia or Tartus, roughly 3 to 4 weeks with clearance.
  • Air is for urgent parcels and documents: to Damascus International Airport, usually within a few days, and not suited to furniture.
  • A detailed contents list (Arabic preferred), a passport copy and the receiver’s details are the basis of any personal shipment.
  • Syrian customs rules change from time to time, so the team checks the current rules for your case before booking.
  • You get updates from the team on WhatsApp at each stage: collection, leaving the UAE, transit, arrival and delivery.

What do we ship from the UAE to Syria?

We ship everything a family moving home, a person sending things to relatives, or a trader supplying stock needs: a full or partial household, electrical appliances, clothes, books and tools, commercial goods by the carton, pallet or container, and shop or workshop equipment. Syria runs on 220 V / 50 Hz, the same as the UAE, so your home appliances work there without converters.

Furniture removals

Dismantling, packing and loading at your flat or villa, with simple reassembly on delivery as agreed.

Personal effects and boxes

Boxes of clothes, gifts and kitchenware go in a shared load, so you never pay for a whole truck.

Commercial cargo

Dry food, textiles, spare parts, building and finishing materials, with full commercial paperwork.

Urgent parcels and documents

Official papers, samples and small items flown to Damascus within days.

Cars

After confirming the car can be imported under Syria’s current rules.

Shop and workshop equipment

Display fridges, sewing machines, carpentry and metalwork tools, fixed on wooden pallets.

Where do we collect from in the UAE?

We collect from any address in the country, and the collection team comes to your door or warehouse. We have two branches, Dubai – Deira, Port Saeed Street and Sharjah – Industrial Area 18, where shared loads are consolidated before departure. Areas we collect from regularly include:

  • Dubai: Deira, Al Qusais, Al Nahda, Al Karama, Al Barsha, Business Bay, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Arabian Ranches, Jebel Ali Free Zone and Dubai Silicon Oasis. For Dubai-specific details see the shipping company from Dubai to Syria guide.
  • Sharjah: Al Taawun, Al Majaz, Al Nahda, Al Qasimia, the industrial areas, Hamriyah Free Zone and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone). Sharjah details are in the Sharjah to Syria guide.
  • Abu Dhabi: Khalifa City, Mussafah, Al Reem Island, Airport Road, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and the industrial zones near Khalifa Port; see the Abu Dhabi to Syria guide.
  • Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Al Ain: we book a collection slot that suits you, and small shipments from these areas usually join a shared load leaving Sharjah or Dubai.

What are the ways to ship from the UAE to Syria, and which suits you?

There are three ways, and the team recommends the right one for each shipment at booking, based on size, urgency and type of goods. The practical rule: road for most homes and mixed loads, sea for full containers and heavy cargo, air for anything that cannot wait.

Method Approximate time Best for Notes
Road via Saudi Arabia and Jordan 8 – 14 days door to door Household goods, boxes, mixed cargo Shared or dedicated truck; multi-country transit needs complete documents
Sea to Latakia or Tartus Roughly 3 – 4 weeks with clearance Full containers, heavy commercial cargo 20 ft or 40 ft container; via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal
Air to Damascus Usually a few days Urgent parcels, documents, samples Actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; not for furniture

The road route from the UAE to Syria, step by step

Road freight is what most people moving home choose, because the truck collects at your door in the UAE and reaches the Syrian city without the goods being handled between ship and port. Dubai to Damascus is roughly 2,800 to 3,000 km, and the truck passes through three countries before Syria:

  1. UAE – Al Ghuwaifat: the truck leaves the UAE once export paperwork is done.
  2. Saudi Arabia – Al Batha: it enters Saudi Arabia in sealed transit, meaning the load crosses without being opened or unloaded.
  3. Saudi Arabia to Jordan – Al Haditha then Al Omari: the truck crosses into Jordan, again in transit.
  4. Jordan to Syria – Jaber and Nasib: Syrian customs clearance and entry happen here.
  5. Damascus, then the other governorates: the truck reaches Damascus, and shipments are distributed to Rural Damascus, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, the coast and beyond.

Border crossing and customs clearance into Syria

Transiting several countries means any gap in the contents list, or any mismatch between paperwork and load, can hold the truck at a border. That is why we ask for a detailed list before loading and match it against numbered boxes. Since the route runs through Jordan, the UAE to Jordan guide may also help if part of your goods is heading to Amman.

Approximate transit times by stage (road)

Stage Approximate time
Collection, packing and paperwork in the UAE 1 – 3 days
Exit at Al Ghuwaifat and transit through Saudi Arabia 2 – 4 days
Transit through Jordan to Jaber 1 – 2 days
Clearance at Nasib and entry into Syria 1 – 3 days
Delivery to Damascus or the governorate 1 – 3 days
Total, door to door about 8 – 14 days

These are approximate. They can stretch in busy seasons at the crossings or if the shipment is called for a customs inspection, and shorten with a dedicated truck that does not wait for a shared load to fill.

Sea freight from the UAE to Latakia and Tartus

Sea freight makes sense when the volume fills a container, or when the cargo is heavy: building materials, ceramics, machinery. The container leaves Jebel Ali in Dubai or Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi and sails through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal to Latakia or Tartus. With clearance, it takes roughly 3 to 4 weeks.

Sea freight to Syrian ports
  • Full container (FCL): a 20 ft roughly takes the furniture of a two- or three-bedroom flat; a 40 ft suits a villa or a large commercial order. The container is loaded and sealed at your place.
  • Shared container (LCL): available for some commercial goods that do not fill a container, priced per cubic metre.
  • After arrival: the container is cleared at the port and trucked to the address, which is convenient if you live on the coast or in Homs or Hama nearby.

Air freight from the UAE to Syria

Air freight is the fastest option: the shipment flies from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airports to Damascus International Airport (Aleppo also has an international airport), usually arriving within a few days door to door including clearance. It suits official documents, small parcels, urgent spare parts, trade samples and gifts for special occasions. It does not suit furniture or large volumes, because the cost climbs quickly with size.

Air freight is charged on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. Example: a 60 × 50 × 40 cm box has a volumetric weight of 20 kg, so if it actually weighs 12 kg you pay for 20 kg. That is why we pack air parcels in the smallest box that fits, with no empty space.

  • Lithium batteries, liquids, perfumes and aerosols are restricted on air freight and may be refused or need special packing and approval.
  • A phone or laptop can travel with its battery installed under certain conditions, but not as loose batteries.
  • Send a photo of the parcel and its dimensions on WhatsApp so the weight is worked out before collection.

Moving furniture from the UAE to Syria: packing and loading

The road journey is long, swings from Gulf summer heat to inland Syrian winter, and shakes your goods for thousands of kilometres. Packing is what decides whether your furniture arrives intact. This is how we do it:

  • Beds, wardrobes and tables are dismantled, with screws kept in bags labelled by item.
  • Wood and glass are wrapped in bubble wrap, then heavy-duty cardboard, with corner protectors.
  • Sofas and mattresses go into thick polythene covers against dust and damp.
  • Kitchenware and glassware go into divided boxes with paper between every piece.
  • The fridge and washing machine are emptied and dried a day before loading, and the washer drum is secured.
  • Every box is numbered and marked with its room and contents, matched to the contents list.
  • Loading goes from heaviest to lightest, and the load is strapped inside the truck.

If you have only a few items, a shared load saves a lot, as you pay only for the space you use. For a full household, or if you need a fixed departure date, a dedicated truck is the better fit. On insurance: ask the team about optional insurance for the shipment before booking.

Car shipping from the UAE to Syria

Shipping a car to Syria starts with one question before anything else: can this car be imported under Syria’s current rules? Car import rules change from time to time and usually cover the model year, the type of car and the importer’s status. So we do not book any car until the team has checked your specific case and told you the result.

Once confirmed, the car travels on a car carrier by road or in a container by sea. The documents usually needed are the ownership papers, the UAE export certificate with plate cancellation, and the owner’s passport copy. The car must be empty of personal belongings; it cannot be used as a box for household goods.

Shipping commercial goods from the UAE to Syria

For traders we move goods by the carton, pallet or container and help prepare the paperwork. Goods of Arab origin may benefit from the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) when accompanied by a valid certificate of origin, which affects the duties at clearance. Points we always raise with traders:

  • The description on the invoice must match what is actually in the boxes, in quantity and weight.
  • The importer’s details in Syria must be complete and correct before the shipment leaves.
  • Food must be well packed, with a clear expiry date and enough shelf life left.
  • Items that need prior approval should be sent after the approval is issued, not before.

Documents required for shipping to Syria

Documents depend on the type of shipment, and Syrian rules on returning citizens’ personal effects and on fees change from time to time. So the team checks the current rules for your case before booking. What is usually requested:

Furniture and personal effects

  • A passport copy of the shipment owner.
  • A detailed contents list for every box and item, preferably in Arabic.
  • The receiver’s name, phone number and full address in Syria.

Commercial goods

  • Commercial invoice and packing list.
  • Certificate of origin, plus a GAFTA certificate for Arab-origin goods where available.
  • The importer’s details in Syria.

Cars

  • Ownership papers and export certificate with cancellation of the UAE plates.
  • The owner’s passport copy.
  • The team’s prior confirmation that the car can be imported under the current rules.

Prohibited and restricted items for Syria

Some things are banned outright; others are allowed only with prior approval. Ask the team before packing if you are unsure about an item — it is far easier than opening boxes at the border.

  • Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment.
  • Need a permit or restricted: drones, satellite and wireless communication devices, and some medicines.
  • Special transport rules: batteries, especially lithium, flammable liquids and gas cylinders.

Warning: do not put any item in the shipment without listing it. One unlisted item can delay the whole truck, including other people’s goods in a shared load.

Delivery inside Syria: every governorate

We deliver to Damascus and every governorate. After clearance at Nasib, the port or the airport, the shipment moves to the address, and the team contacts the receiver to set a time and learn about access.

Region Example delivery areas Practical note
Damascus and Rural Damascus Mezzeh, Malki, Abu Rummaneh, Kafr Souseh, Bab Touma, Dummar, Al Midan, Rukn Al Din, Jaramana, Sahnaya, Qudsaya, Al Tal, Douma First stop after Nasib by road; the airport for air freight
Homs and Hama Homs and Hama cities and surroundings Served by road from Damascus, or from nearby Tartus port
Aleppo Aleppo city and its districts Extra distance by road from Damascus; has an international airport for air freight
Latakia and Tartus Both cities and the coast The two ports are here, so sea freight suits coastal residents
Daraa and Sweida Both cities and nearby villages Close to the Nasib crossing, so road shipments reach them early
North-east and north Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Hasakah, Qamishli, Idlib Longer distance inside Syria; the time is agreed with the receiver in advance

Old neighbourhoods and access to the home

In Old Damascus and areas like Bab Touma and Al Midan, and in the old quarters of Aleppo and Homs, lanes are narrow and stairs are many, so large trucks cannot get in. There, goods are moved to a smaller truck and the last stretch is carried by hand. The team asks the receiver in advance about street width, floor and whether there is a working lift, so delivery day holds no surprises.

Weather and your shipment

Winters inland are cold and rainy, and the coast is humid most of the year. We pack wood and mattresses against damp, and advise the receiver to prepare a dry space and not leave boxes in an open courtyard on a rainy day.

Shared load or dedicated truck to Syria?

By road you choose between sharing a truck with other shipments heading to Syria, or booking a whole truck for yourself. The difference is not only price, but timing and how delivery works.

Comparison Shared load Dedicated truck
Cost You pay for your volume only You pay for the whole truck
Departure When the truck’s load is complete On the date you set
Best for Boxes, one or two rooms, small stock Full home, villa, cargo that fills the truck
Delivery After unloading and sorting in Damascus Usually straight from the truck to your door

Many customers start with “should I wait or pay more?”. If you have a fixed travel date or a new tenant waiting for your UAE flat, a dedicated truck takes the pressure off. If there is no rush, a shared load saves a large part of the cost.

What should the receiver in Syria prepare for delivery day?

Delivery goes more smoothly when the receiver knows what is expected. We usually ask for an adult with ID to be present, and for the home location to be sent on WhatsApp with a description of the access: can the street take a truck? Which floor? Is there a working lift? The room where the goods will go should ideally be empty and dry. At delivery the receiver checks box numbers against the list, and notes and photographs any remark on the spot, which makes it easier to deal with.

How much does shipping from the UAE to Syria cost?

The price is set for each shipment once its details are known, because there is a big gap between two boxes and a whole house, and between Damascus and Qamishli. Send the details on WhatsApp and you get the price for any service:

  • Full household by road: send the details on WhatsApp and you get the price.
  • Boxes and personal effects in a shared load: send the details on WhatsApp and you get the price.
  • 20 ft or 40 ft sea container: send the details on WhatsApp and you get the price.
  • Air parcel to Damascus: send the dimensions and weight on WhatsApp and you get the price.
  • Car shipping after the eligibility check: send the details on WhatsApp and you get the price.

You can also fill in the request a price form on the site.

What decides the price of shipping to Syria?

Factor How it affects the price
Shipping method Road costs least for household goods, sea is best value for a full container, air costs most per kilo but is fastest
Volume and weight Per cubic metre by road and sea; actual or volumetric weight by air
Shared or dedicated A shared load splits the cost; a dedicated truck or container gives you a fixed date
Governorate and access Distance after Nasib or the port, and any need for a small truck or hand carrying
Packing Full dismantling, packing and reassembly, or packing you do yourself
Documents and clearance Personal or commercial shipment, and the customs duties that apply

Tips before you ship to Syria

  • Book at least two weeks before your travel date if you are moving a full home.
  • Get rid of things you will not use; every cubic metre counts.
  • Keep documents, gold, personal medicines and valuable devices with you in your luggage.
  • Photograph valuable furniture before packing; photos help with checking at delivery.
  • Make sure the receiver’s Syrian number works, and that someone can receive if they are away.
  • Do not carry other people’s items in your shipment unless you know exactly what is inside.

Frequently asked questions about shipping from the UAE to Syria

How long does road shipping from the UAE to Syria take?

About 8 to 14 days door to door, covering collection, transit through Saudi Arabia and Jordan, clearance at Nasib and delivery. The time can change with congestion at the crossings and the destination governorate.

Which is better for household goods, road or sea?

For flats and average homes, road is usually better because it is door to door and faster. If the volume fills a 40 ft container or includes heavy goods, and delivery is on or near the coast, sea to Latakia or Tartus can work out cheaper.

Can I send just a few boxes?

Yes. A few boxes go in a shared road load and you pay only for the space they take. If they are light and urgent, air is the faster choice.

Can I ship my car from the UAE to Syria?

It depends on Syria’s current car import rules, which change from time to time. Send the make and model year on WhatsApp and the team checks eligibility before any booking.

Is there a customs exemption for people returning to Syria?

Rules on returning citizens’ personal effects change from time to time, so we do not give a general answer. The team checks the current rules for your case before booking and tells you what applies.

How do I know where my shipment is?

The team sends you WhatsApp updates at each stage: collection, leaving the UAE, transit, arrival in Syria and delivery. You can also message at any time to ask.

Do you deliver to Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor and Qamishli?

Yes, we deliver to every governorate. Areas far from Damascus need extra days inside Syria, and the time is agreed with the receiver in advance.

Do you collect from the northern emirates and Al Ain?

Yes. We collect from Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Al Ain as well as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and set the collection time with you on WhatsApp.
