If you are looking for a shipping company from UAE to Bahrain that collects from your home or warehouse and delivers to your area in the Kingdom, that is the daily work of Al Basmah International Shipping. We move furniture, household goods, cars, commercial cargo and parcels from every emirate to every part of Bahrain. The main route is by road: the truck leaves through the Al Ghuwaifat border, crosses Saudi Arabia in transit via Al Ahsa, Dammam and Khobar, and enters Bahrain over the King Fahd Causeway. Door to door takes roughly two to four days including clearance, and shared-truck furniture shipping starts from AED 90 per cubic metre. Full containers can go by sea to Khalifa Bin Salman Port, and urgent shipments by air to Bahrain International Airport.

Before shipping to Bahrain

  • Road route: UAE → Al Ghuwaifat / Al Batha → Al Ahsa → Dammam and Khobar → King Fahd Causeway → Bahrain.
  • Approximate door-to-door time: 2–4 days to Manama, Muharraq, Riffa and the rest of the country.
  • The Saudi leg is customs transit: the load is sealed and not cleared into Saudi Arabia, so documents must be complete before loading.
  • Goods of UAE origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty; Bahrain applies 10% VAT on imports.
  • Prices start from AED 90 per cubic metre for furniture, AED 45 per parcel and AED 2,000 for a sedan.

About one to two days for documents, light parcels and spare parts.

Two collection branches

What do we ship from the UAE to Bahrain?

We ship almost everything people and businesses move between the two countries, as long as it is allowed into Bahrain and its paperwork is clear. Most requests on this route fall into four groups: a family or employee relocating to Bahrain and moving a whole home, someone sending part of their belongings or gifts to relatives, a car owner taking the car along, and a trader supplying a shop or warehouse in Manama or Sitra.

  • Furniture and household goods: bedrooms, sofas, dining tables, appliances, kitchens, clothes and books, with dismantling, packing and reassembly.
  • Cars: sedans, SUVs and luxury cars on open or enclosed carriers.
  • Commercial cargo: building materials, equipment, office furniture, clothing, packaged food and spare parts, as part loads or full trucks.
  • Parcels and boxes: from a single box to dozens, by road from AED 45 or by air when urgent.
  • Equipment and tools: workshop tools, light machinery, motorcycles, and restaurant or shop fit-out equipment.

If your item is not listed, send a photo and its dimensions on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it goes by road, sea or air, and what documents it needs before you start.

Where do we collect in the UAE?

We collect from all seven emirates and Al Ain: homes, apartments, villas, warehouses and free zones. A small truck gathers shipments from the neighbourhoods and transfers them to the line truck, or a dedicated truck comes straight to your address when the load is large.

  • Dubai: Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Barsha, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Business Bay, Al Quoz, Mirdif, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Jebel Ali Free Zone.
  • Abu Dhabi: Khalifa City, Al Reem Island, Mussafah, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and the industrial areas near Khalifa Port.
  • Sharjah: Al Nahda, Al Majaz, Al Qasimia, the industrial areas and Sharjah Airport Free Zone.
  • Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain: residential and industrial areas, with the collection time agreed in advance because the truck collects from more than one emirate.

Each emirate has its own guide with collection areas and route details:

The road route from the UAE to Bahrain

A truck can only reach Bahrain through Saudi Arabia; there is no direct land link between the two countries. So nearly the whole trip runs on Saudi roads, with the causeway at the end. This is the route our shipments take:

  1. Collection and loading in the UAE: dismantling and packing at your place, then loading and writing the contents list.
  2. Al Ghuwaifat (UAE) – Al Batha (Saudi Arabia): exit from the UAE and transit registration on the Saudi side.
  3. Al Ahsa, then Dammam and Khobar: the highway through the Eastern Province to the causeway entrance.
  4. King Fahd Causeway: about 25 km over the sea, with the island holding Saudi and Bahraini customs in the middle.
  5. Delivery in Bahrain: after clearance the truck heads straight to the address; distances inside Bahrain are short.

Saudi transit: what it means for you

Transit means the load crosses Saudi Arabia without being cleared there. The truck or container is sealed at Al Batha and declared as goods in transit to Bahrain, then the seal is checked and matched on exit at the causeway. In practice, nothing can be added or dropped on the way, and a missing document cannot be completed once the truck has left. That is why we ask for every document before loading and match the contents list against what is actually loaded. Any mismatch between the list and the load can hold the truck at Al Batha or on the causeway. For more on the Saudi road itself, see the UAE to Saudi Arabia shipping guide.

The King Fahd Causeway and its customs island

The causeway is the only gateway for trucks into Bahrain, and it starts in Khobar. On the middle island the truck passes Saudi exit customs and then Bahraini entry customs, where the load is inspected and matched with the declaration, and some boxes may be opened. Clearance in Bahrain is electronic through the OFOQ system, so the papers are uploaded in advance and the broker prepares them before the truck arrives; this is why the crossing is usually quick when documents are in order. At busy times, such as weekends and holiday seasons, waiting on the causeway can add a few hours, and we time arrivals for quieter slots where possible. Because the Eastern Province is where the causeway begins, this stretch is also covered in the UAE to Dammam shipping guide.

How long does shipping from the UAE to Bahrain take?

By road, roughly two to four days door to door, including clearance at the causeway. Bahrain is small, so once the truck is across, delivery anywhere takes hours. What really changes the timing is the type of service: a dedicated truck leaves on the date you set, while a shared load may wait a few extra days for the truck to fill.

Delivery area in Bahrain Approximate road time Delivery note
Manama 2–4 days Apartments, towers and shops; large-truck entry is scheduled.
Muharraq 2–4 days Older districts with some narrow streets, so a smaller dyna may do the last stretch.
Seef and Juffair 2–4 days Residential towers that need a lift booking and building permission.
Riffa 2–4 days Villas and detached houses, usually easy truck access.
Isa Town and Hamad Town 2–4 days Wide residential areas, direct delivery to the door.
Budaiya 2–4 days Villas and farms; the unloading point is confirmed in advance.
Amwaj Islands 2–4 days Entry may need a permit from the compound management.

These times are approximate and assume complete papers and someone at the address. Public holidays in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain and causeway traffic can add a day or more.

Road or sea freight to Bahrain?

For furniture, cars and part loads, road is usually the faster and simpler choice, because it delivers to the door with no port handling. Sea suits full containers and heavy commercial cargo: the container sails from Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi to Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Hidd. The sailing itself is short, but port handling, clearance and the inland move to the warehouse add time, so the total is often longer than by road.

Comparison Road over the King Fahd Causeway Sea to Khalifa Bin Salman Port
Best for Furniture, cars, part loads and full trucks Full containers and heavy commercial cargo
Approximate time 2–4 days door to door Often longer because of port handling and clearance
Delivery Straight to the door From the port, then an inland move to the warehouse
Crossing Transit through Saudi Arabia No third country crossed
Price Shared truck from AED 90 per cubic metre Send the details on WhatsApp and get your price

If your commercial shipment is container-sized, we compare both options by cargo type and deadline; sometimes a 13.6 m closed trailer works better than a container because it delivers straight to your warehouse in Sitra or Salmabad.

Air freight from the UAE to Bahrain

Air freight is the answer when time matters more than cost: documents, samples, spare parts a workshop is waiting for, or personal items you need in your first days in Bahrain. Parcels fly from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airports to Bahrain International Airport in Muharraq, usually in about one to two days including clearance.

  • How it is charged: by actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.
  • What does not suit air: furniture and bulky items, which cost far more by air than by road, and road arrives in a few days anyway.
  • Air restrictions: loose lithium batteries, liquids, perfumes and flammable materials.
  • Price: send the weight and dimensions on WhatsApp and get your price.

A real example: a box weighing 8 kg and measuring 60×40×40 cm has a volumetric weight of 16 kg, so it is charged at 16. That is why we recommend packing air parcels as compactly as possible.

Moving furniture from the UAE to Bahrain

Home moves are most of our work on this route. It starts with a photo or video survey on WhatsApp to estimate the volume in cubic metres; then the team arrives on the agreed day, dismantles, packs and numbers each piece, and in Bahrain unloads and reassembles in the rooms you choose. A small volume travels with other shipments in a shared truck from AED 90 per cubic metre; a full home usually works out cheaper and faster in a dedicated truck.

Packing furniture for Bahrain’s humidity

Bahrain’s summers are hot and very humid because it is an island, and humidity is what harms wood, mattresses and appliances most. Our packing is built around that:

  • A layer of blankets or foam on wood, then tight stretch film to keep out moisture and dust.
  • Sealed covers for mattresses and fabric sofas, and mattresses are never sealed while damp.
  • Double-wall boxes for glass and china with paper between pieces, marked “fragile”.
  • Fridges and washing machines emptied and dried at least a day before shipping to avoid smells or mould.
  • Each piece’s screws in a numbered bag taped to it, so reassembly in Bahrain is quick.

We also suggest opening and airing the boxes in your first days, especially clothes and books, if the shipment has stayed closed in the heat for several days.

Car shipping from the UAE to Bahrain

We ship cars by road over the causeway on open multi-car carriers, or on enclosed carriers for luxury and classic cars. The car is loaded in the UAE and crosses Saudi Arabia in transit on the carrier; it is not driven on the road. Prices start from AED 2,000 for a sedan and AED 2,750 for an SUV on an open carrier, and from AED 4,100 on an enclosed carrier.

Bahrain sets conditions on imported used cars, covering the car’s age, specifications and a technical inspection before registration, and these conditions change from time to time. So before any booking, our team checks your car’s model year and specifications against the conditions in force in Bahrain at the time of shipping, so the car does not arrive and then get stuck at registration.

  • Registration/ownership card in the owner’s name, or a clear authorisation.
  • UAE export certificate and plate cancellation.
  • Owner’s ID or passport.
  • The car empty of personal belongings, with a low fuel tank.

Customs in Bahrain: what do you pay?

Bahrain and the UAE are both members of the GCC Customs Union, which changes the maths a lot. Goods of UAE or GCC origin accompanied by a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty. Goods made outside the Gulf, such as Asian or European appliances bought in Dubai for trade, usually pay the general customs duty of 5% of value. On top of that, Bahrain applies VAT of 10% on imports.

  • Used personal effects of someone moving to live in Bahrain are usually treated as personal belongings, provided they are used and in household quantities.
  • New items in commercial quantities are treated as goods and are subject to duty and VAT.
  • Clearance is electronic through OFOQ; the broker files the declaration and documents before the truck arrives.
  • Food, medicines and cosmetics have extra health requirements and may need approval from the competent authority before shipping.

If you are not sure whether your shipment counts as personal effects or goods, photograph the contents and send them to us; we will explain the likely treatment before loading.

Documents required for shipping to Bahrain

Personal effects and household goods

  • Passport copy.
  • Bahraini CPR (smart card) or Bahrain residence permit.
  • A detailed contents list in Arabic or English; we help you write it while packing.
  • Delivery address in Bahrain and the receiver’s phone number.

Commercial cargo

  • Commercial invoice with description, quantity and value.
  • Packing list with the number of packages and weights.
  • Certificate of origin; the GCC certificate is the one that gives duty exemption.
  • The Bahraini consignee’s commercial registration (CR).
  • Health approvals for food, medicines and cosmetics where needed.

Cars

  • Ownership, export certificate, plate cancellation and the owner’s ID, as listed in the car section above.

Prohibited and restricted items for Bahrain

Some items cannot enter Bahrain at all, and some only with a prior permit. Since the shipment crosses Saudi Arabia in transit, it is best kept free of anything that raises questions at either border.

  • Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition without a licence, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment.
  • Restricted: alcohol and pork products.
  • Prior permit needed: drones and some medicines.
  • Not suitable to ship with furniture: gas cylinders, fuel, chemicals and flammable liquids.

Warning: do not put personal medicines or any restricted item inside your household boxes without telling the team. A single undeclared item can hold the whole truck at the causeway, and delay other owners’ goods in a shared load with it.

Shipping prices from the UAE to Bahrain

The prices below are starting points in UAE dirhams. The final price depends on volume, weight, collection and delivery area, packing level and documents, and is worked out once you send the details.

Shipment type Price
Furniture and household goods in a shared truck Starts from AED 90 per cubic metre
Small parcels by road Start from AED 45
Sedan on an open carrier Starts from AED 2,000
SUV on an open carrier Starts from AED 2,750
Car on an enclosed carrier Starts from AED 4,100
Dedicated truck (dyna, lorry, trailer) Send the details on WhatsApp and get your price
Air freight Send the weight and dimensions on WhatsApp and get your price
Sea container Send the details on WhatsApp and get your price

What raises or lowers the price?

  • Actual volume in cubic metres: good dismantling reduces volume, and with it the price.
  • Truck type: shared is cheaper for small volumes; dedicated is better value for a full home and leaves on your date.
  • Floor and lift: a high-floor flat with no lift in the UAE, or a tower in Juffair, needs more crew and time.
  • Packing: full packing with boxes and foam costs differently from moving pre-packed items.
  • Documents and cargo type: non-GCC-origin goods pay duty, and food or medicines need extra steps.
  • Reassembly in Bahrain: assembling bedrooms and kitchens is added on request.

For a quick price, fill in the quote request form or send photos of your items on WhatsApp.

How to ship from the UAE to Bahrain, step by step

  1. Send the details: photos or a list of the items, the collection address in the UAE and the delivery area in Bahrain.
  2. Get the price and date: we set the service type (shared or dedicated; road, sea or air), the price and the documents needed.
  3. Prepare the papers: passport and Bahraini CPR or residence for household goods, or invoice, certificate of origin and CR for cargo.
  4. Dismantling, packing and loading: the team arrives on time and writes the contents list in front of you.
  5. The crossing: Al Ghuwaifat, then Saudi transit to the King Fahd Causeway, and clearance on the customs island.
  6. Delivery and reassembly: unloading at your address in Bahrain and assembling what is needed.

At every stage the team sends you an update on WhatsApp: at loading, at the border, on reaching the causeway, and early enough before delivery for you to be at the address.

Delivery inside Bahrain: what you should know

Bahrain is a small island and every area is a short drive from the causeway, but delivery details vary by area:

  • Manama, Juffair, Seef and Bahrain Bay: mostly tower apartments, so book the lift with building management and tell us about any unloading-time rules.
  • Muharraq, Busaiteen and Diyar Al Muharraq: some older districts have narrow streets, so goods may move from the large truck to a smaller dyna for the last stretch.
  • Amwaj Islands: entry through compound gates, which may need prior permission for the truck.
  • Riffa, Isa Town, Hamad Town, Saar, Budaiya and Janabiya: villas and detached houses, usually direct unloading.
  • Sitra, Hidd, Tubli and Salmabad: industrial areas and warehouses, where most commercial shipments go.

Large trucks may face time windows on the causeway and in Manama, and our team schedules delivery around them. If you ship to more than one Gulf country, we have similar guides for shipping from the UAE to Qatar and shipping from the UAE to Kuwait.

Tips before you ship to Bahrain

Write the contents list honestly and in reasonable detail: “box of clothes” is better than “miscellaneous items”. A clear list shortens the inspection at the causeway.

  • Start on the paperwork before booking, especially the Bahraini CPR or residence, because household goods do not move without it.
  • Do not ship large quantities of new boxed items with your furniture; they may be counted as commercial goods.
  • Keep jewellery, important papers and personal medicines with you, not on the truck.
  • For a high-value shipment, ask the team about optional insurance.
  • Avoid a delivery date on a public holiday in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain.
  • Make sure the receiver’s phone number in Bahrain is correct and reachable on WhatsApp on arrival day.

Do I pay customs on used furniture?

Used personal effects of someone moving to live in Bahrain are usually treated as personal belongings, with a passport, Bahraini CPR or residence and a contents list. New items in commercial quantities are treated as goods and pay duty and VAT.
