Need a shipping company from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar that can move your villa furniture, including the chandeliers, antiques and marble consoles, or your 4×4, to your apartment in Lusail or your home in Doha? Al Basmah International Shipping collects in Ras Al Khaimah, packs fragile pieces into wooden crates built to size, and the truck then crosses the whole UAE westwards to the Al Ghuwaifat border, transits Saudi Arabia to Salwa – Abu Samra, and goes on to your address in Qatar. Most shipments reach Doha, Lusail, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah in about two to four days including clearance. Furniture in a shared truck starts from 90 AED per cubic metre, and a car in an enclosed carrier starts from 4,100 AED.

  • Ras Al Khaimah is the emirate farthest from the Saudi border, so we plan for a longer road and stronger packing than usual.
  • Chandeliers are dismantled and their crystals numbered, then shipped with antiques and marble consoles in wooden crates braced from inside.
  • Luxury cars and 4x4s travel in an enclosed carrier; Qatar generally does not accept used light vehicles more than five years from their manufacture date.

  • We send you a WhatsApp update at loading, at Al Ghuwaifat, at clearance in Abu Samra and before arrival at your address.

What we ship from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

We ship everything a family relocating or a trader supplying stock needs to send from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar: villa and apartment furniture, valuable pieces that need wooden crates, cars, commercial goods and small parcels. What we see most from Ras Al Khaimah specifically is the contents of large villas in Al Nakheel, Al Dhait and Al Hamra Village, which usually include big chandeliers, older decorative pieces and heavy framed mirrors. That is what this guide is built around.

  • Complete villa contents: bedrooms, majlis, dining, kitchen and appliances.
  • Crystal and metal chandeliers, floor lamps, antiques, vases, hand-made rugs and paintings.
  • Consoles and tables with marble or glass tops, and large mirrors.
  • Sedans and 4x4s, on open or enclosed carriers.
  • Shop and warehouse stock and industrial materials from Al Ghail Industrial Zone, Al Hulaila and Al Jazirah Al Hamra.
  • Parcels and small cartons by road, and urgent shipments by air.

If your shipment is one room or a few cartons, a shared truck is enough. If it is a whole villa with valuable pieces, we usually recommend a dedicated truck that leaves on your date, so the crates are not moved between several loads.

Why shipping from Ras Al Khaimah is different

Because the road is longer. The UAE and Qatar share no land border, so every truck bound for Doha leaves the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat on the far western edge of Abu Dhabi and then crosses Saudi Arabia. A truck leaving Ras Al Khaimah has to cross the country from its north to its far west before it even reaches the border, passing Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi on the way. That stretch alone is close to the whole distance a shipment from Abu Dhabi covers to reach Qatar.

In practice this changes three things:

  • Loading time: we prefer early-morning loading so the truck covers the UAE section the same day and reaches Al Ghuwaifat with its papers ready.
  • Packing strength: extra hours on the road mean longer vibration. A piece that would be fine in blankets and cardboard over a short distance may need a crate here.
  • Shared loads: shared shipments may be consolidated at our Sharjah branch in Industrial Area 18 before the truck leaves, which can add a day or more while the load fills. If you are in a hurry, choose a dedicated truck.

The road itself, from Al Ghuwaifat along the Saudi coast to Salwa, is part of the route our shipments take to Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province; see our guide to shipping from Ras Al Khaimah to Saudi Arabia.

Pickup areas in Ras Al Khaimah

We collect from any address in the emirate, from the neighbourhoods near the Corniche to the mountain villages and industrial zones. These are the areas we load from most:

  • City and centre: Al Nakheel, Al Dhait North and South, Al Mamourah, Khuzam, Seih Al Uraibi, Julphar, Al Qusaidat.
  • Coast and resorts: Al Hamra Village, Mina Al Arab, Al Marjan Island, Al Jazirah Al Hamra.
  • North: Al Rams, Sha’am and the surrounding areas.
  • Inland: Digdaga, Khatt, Al Hulaila and nearby areas.
  • Industrial and free zones: RAKEZ Al Ghail Industrial Zone and Al Hamra Industrial Zone, Al Jazirah Al Hamra industrial area, and Al Hulaila industrial area.

For villas in Al Hamra Village, Mina Al Arab and Al Marjan Island, we arrange truck access with the community security in advance. For companies in free zones, a release letter from the free zone is usually needed for the goods to leave, and we ask you for it before loading day.

Villa furniture and chandeliers packed in wooden crates in Ras Al Khaimah for shipping to Qatar

Crating chandeliers, antiques and consoles

A wooden crate is the safe option for any piece that cannot take pressure from above or from the sides. We build it to the piece’s size, line it inside and brace the piece so it cannot move even when the truck leans. This is how we handle each type:

Chandeliers

We photograph the chandelier while it is still hanging, from several angles, before touching it. Then we remove the crystals, chains and every detachable part, and put each group in a bag numbered by its position on the ring. The metal frame is wrapped in acid-free paper and then bubble wrap and braced inside a wooden crate, and the numbered bags go in a separate inner box beside it. The photos and numbering are what make re-assembly in Lusail or Doha straightforward for the electrician there.

Antiques, vases and artwork

Each piece is wrapped on its own and placed in a padded inner box, and that box goes into a larger wooden crate with padding on every side. This box-in-crate method stops a knock from travelling straight to the piece. Large oil paintings have their corners protected and travel upright, never flat.

Marble consoles, tables and mirrors

Marble is separated from its wooden or metal base where possible and shipped standing on its long edge inside a narrow crate, because flat marble cracks across the middle with vibration. Mirrors and glass tops are handled the same way, with tape in an X across the glass so the pieces stay together if a break happens.

Put the wardrobe keys and the chandelier screws in one bag, write the room name on it, and hand it to the team supervisor in person. Losing that bag in a new home delays the set-up more than anything else.

Qatar’s coastal summers are hot and humid, so we put moisture absorbers inside crates holding natural wood, rugs and antiques with old finishes, and we avoid wrapping wood directly in plastic so condensation does not form on it. Crates are closed with screws rather than nails, because shipments may be physically inspected at customs, and screws let the crate be opened and closed again without damage.

The road route from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

The shipment moves in this order:

  1. Loading in Ras Al Khaimah, then south and west across the UAE to the Al Ghuwaifat border on the Abu Dhabi side.
  2. UAE exit formalities at Al Ghuwaifat, then entry at the Saudi Al Batha border post.
  3. Customs transit through Saudi Arabia: the load is sealed and declared in transit, so it is not cleared into Saudi Arabia, and it follows the coast road to Salwa.
  4. Exit at Salwa and entry at the Qatari Abu Samra border, where Qatari customs clearance takes place.
  5. From Abu Samra to Doha, Lusail and the other cities, then unloading and set-up.

The Saudi transit leg is the key thing to understand: the seal goes on the load before the crossing and is not opened until Qatar, so the contents list and documents must be complete before the truck leaves Ras Al Khaimah. A missing paper discovered at the border means waiting there. We do not promise fixed times at the border posts, because waiting times change with traffic.

Approximate transit times from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

Destination in Qatar Approximate road transit (door to door, including clearance) Note
Doha 2–4 days Most residential areas and towers
Lusail 2–4 days Service lift booked with the tower management in advance
Al Rayyan 2–4 days Villas and compounds
Al Wakrah 2–4 days South of Doha near Hamad Port
Al Khor 3–4 days North of Doha
Mesaieed 3–4 days Industrial area to the south
Dukhan 3–4 days West coast

These times are for a dedicated truck or a shared load ready to leave. A shared load may wait a few extra days for the truck to fill; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you choose.

Car shipping from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

Shipping a 4×4 to Qatar in an enclosed carrier

Many Ras Al Khaimah residents own a 4×4 they use in the mountains and the desert, and when they move to Qatar they want to take it. On a long road through open desert, an enclosed carrier protects the paint and glass from sand, gravel and sun, which is why we recommend it for luxury and newer cars. An open carrier is the more economical choice for an everyday car.

  • Enclosed carrier: from 4,100 AED.
  • Open carrier: sedans from 2,000 AED, SUVs from 2,750 AED.

Before booking we check your car’s eligibility for Qatar, because the rules there are stricter than many people expect:

  • Qatar limits imported used light vehicles to five years from the manufacture date, and heavy vehicles to ten years.
  • The car must meet Qatar’s technical, safety and environmental standards and be left-hand drive to be registered.
  • “GCC specs” on its own does not guarantee acceptance.
  • The car is handed over empty of personal belongings, so no cartons or tools inside.

We photograph the car from every side at collection, record the odometer reading and send the photos to you on WhatsApp. The car is then secured in the carrier with wheel straps, not straps over the body.

Furniture from Ras Al Khaimah delivered to an apartment in a Lusail tower in Qatar
Delivery in Lusail — from Ras Al Khaimah

Delivery to Lusail towers and Doha neighbourhoods

Many people moving from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar live in Lusail towers, in the Marina District, Fox Hills, Qetaifan Islands or Al Erkyah. Delivering to a tower is not the same as delivering to a villa, and what keeps it running smoothly is coordinating a day or two before the truck arrives:

  • Service lift booking: most towers require the service lift to be booked in advance and set fixed moving hours. Contact the building management and send us the available slot.
  • Truck parking: some towers have a basement loading bay that cannot take a long trailer, in which case we use a smaller dyna for the last stretch.
  • Crate sizes: a large crate may not fit the service lift, so we open some crates at the building entrance and take the piece up wrapped in blankets.
  • Chandelier installation: our team dismantles, packs and assembles furniture; connecting a chandelier to the electrics is done by a licensed electrician in the building, to whom we hand the photos and numbered bags.

We also deliver across Doha: West Bay, The Pearl, Al Sadd, Al Waab, Al Gharafa, Al Duhail, Madinat Khalifa, Al Thumama, Al Hilal and the Old Airport area, as well as Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Khor and Muaither, and the Industrial Area and Birkat Al Awamer for commercial cargo. At villas the truck usually parks right at the gate, and in gated compounds we arrange access with security.

Clearance at Abu Samra: what happens when your shipment enters Qatar

Customs clearance in Qatar is electronic, through the Al Nadeeb system, and our team prepares the declaration from the contents list and documents you send. At Abu Samra the papers are checked and the shipment may be physically inspected, which is why the detailed list matters: every crate carries a number that matches a line in the list describing what is inside.

  • Goods of UAE (GCC) origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt from customs duty.
  • Goods of non-GCC origin usually attract the general customs duty of 5%.
  • Personal effects and used furniture of someone moving to Qatar are cleared with personal documents and a contents list; new items in commercial quantities are dutiable.

Road or sea to Hamad Port? For furniture, cars and medium-sized cargo, road is usually the better fit because it runs door to door without port handling. Full containers and heavy commercial cargo have a real sea alternative: Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port to Hamad Port south of Doha, usually a short sailing of about two days plus port handling and clearance. Send us the cargo details and we will suggest the better option.

Air freight from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

Air freight from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

For urgent, light shipments we collect in Ras Al Khaimah and fly from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airport to Hamad International Airport in Doha, usually arriving within one to two days including clearance. Air freight suits documents, small electronics, clothes and small art pieces that the owner needs before the furniture arrives. It does not suit furniture, because of size and cost.

  • Price is based on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000.
  • Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted on air freight, so ask the team before including them.
  • Air freight pricing: send the details on WhatsApp and you will receive the price.

A practical approach when moving a villa: ship the furniture by road, and send a suitcase or two cartons of essentials by air so they arrive first.

  • Qatari ID (residence permit) or national ID.
  • A detailed contents list in Arabic or English, numbered by crate and carton.

  • Commercial invoice and packing list.
  • Certificate of origin (GCC, for the duty exemption).

Prohibited and restricted items

We do not ship narcotics, weapons or ammunition without permits, counterfeit goods or gambling equipment to Qatar. Alcohol and pork products are restricted, and drones and some medicines need prior permits. If you have personal medicines, tell the team their name and quantity before packing.

Warning: Do not hide any item inside a crate or drawer without listing it. The load is sealed for the Saudi transit, and any mismatch between the list and the contents during inspection at Abu Samra can hold the whole shipment, not just that item.

Shipping prices from Ras Al Khaimah to Qatar

These are starting points; the final price depends on volume, weight, the destination city in Qatar, packing and documents:

Service Starts from
Furniture and household goods in a shared truck 90 AED per cubic metre
Small parcels by road 45 AED
Sedan on an open carrier 2,000 AED
SUV on an open carrier 2,750 AED
Car in an enclosed carrier 4,100 AED
Dedicated truck / air freight / containers Send the details on WhatsApp and you will receive the price

What raises or lowers the cost

  • Volume in cubic metres: dismantling beds, wardrobes and tables cuts the volume considerably.
  • Number of wooden crates: each crate is built to size and priced by its volume, so choose the pieces that really need one.
  • Shared or dedicated truck: shared is cheaper; dedicated is faster and safer for valuable pieces.
  • Pickup location: mountain or remote areas of Ras Al Khaimah may need a smaller dyna to bring items to the main truck.
  • Delivery city and floor: a tower that needs a service-lift move is different from a ground-floor villa.
  • Documents: missing papers mean waiting at the border and extra cost.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a shipment take from Ras Al Khaimah to Doha?

About two to four days door to door including clearance for Doha, Lusail, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah, and three to four days for Al Khor, Mesaieed and Dukhan. A shared load may wait a few days for the truck to fill.

Can a large crystal chandelier be shipped without breaking?

Yes. The chandelier is photographed, its crystals are removed into numbered bags, and the frame is braced in a lined wooden crate. This keeps the risk to a minimum and makes re-assembly in Qatar clear.

Why does the truck pass through Saudi Arabia?

Because the UAE and Qatar share no land border. The truck leaves at Al Ghuwaifat, transits Saudi Arabia with a sealed load that is not cleared there, and enters Qatar at Abu Samra.

Can I ship my 4×4 to Qatar?

Yes, if it is no more than five years from its manufacture date, meets Qatari standards and is left-hand drive. We check your car’s eligibility before booking, and an enclosed carrier starts from 4,100 AED.

Will I pay customs duty on my furniture in Qatar?

Used furniture of someone moving to Qatar is cleared with personal documents and a contents list, and goods of UAE origin with a GCC certificate of origin are exempt. New items in commercial quantities and goods of non-GCC origin usually attract 5% duty.

How do I know where my shipment is?

The team sends you a WhatsApp update at each stage: loading, leaving Al Ghuwaifat, clearance at Abu Samra and before arrival at your address.

Do you collect from mountain villages in Ras Al Khaimah?

Yes, from anywhere in the emirate. On narrow or mountain roads we use a small dyna to bring items to the main truck.

Is air freight suitable for furniture?

No. Air freight suits urgent, light parcels and arrives in about one to two days. Furniture goes by road, because air is priced on volumetric weight and becomes very expensive.
