Caring for the dining set

  • The tabletop comes off the base and travels on edge in a wooden crate; chairs are wrapped in pairs, seat to seat.
  • The chandelier is taken down: each crystal wrapped on its own, bulbs removed, the frame in a padded carton.
  • Glass, mirrors and glass-fronted buffets: crates built to size, with nothing stacked on top.
  • Farm equipment: strapped to pallets, drained of fuel and oil, with a certificate of origin, and an ACID number if commercial.
  • Delivery to 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed by road in roughly 10–15 days; get your price on WhatsApp +971524669941.

Where we collect in Al Ain

Al Ain is a city of villas and farms with long distances between districts, so we fix the collection time in advance and send the right vehicle: a small closed van for cartons, a 5-ton or 7-ton dyna for a mid-size villa, or a 10-ton lorry or closed trailer for large homes and equipment.

Villa districts

Al Jimi, Al Muwaiji, Al Towayya, Al Maqam, Al Khabisi, Hili, Al Qattara, Al Masoudi, Falaj Hazza.

Outskirts and farms

Al Yahar, Al Foah, Al Mutaredh, Zakher, Sweihan, Al Hayer, Al Khazna, and the Al Wagan and Al Khatim farms.

Industrial areas

Al Ain Industrial Area (Sanaiya) and Al Ain Industrial City, for equipment and commercial goods.

If your shipment is small and you pass through Dubai or Sharjah, you can drop it at one of our branches: Dubai – Deira, Port Saeed Street, or Sharjah – Industrial Area 18. Living in the capital? See shipping from Abu Dhabi to Egypt.

What we ship from Al Ain to Egypt

  • Full villa furniture: dining rooms, salons, master bedrooms, majlis seating, garden furniture.
  • Large appliances: double-door fridges, dishwashers, built-in ovens, split AC units properly dismantled.
  • Small farm equipment: irrigation pumps, generators, sprayers, tillers, pruning and cutting tools.
  • Commercial goods: for an importer or company in Egypt, with full paperwork.
  • Personal effects and parcels: cartons of clothes, books and gifts, or an urgent shipment by air.
  • Cars: after checking Egypt’s current import rules for the car and its owner.

Dining set, chandelier and glass: how we pack them

In Al Ain villas the dining room is often the heaviest and most valuable set in the house: a long table for eight or twelve, upholstered chairs, a glass-fronted buffet and a crystal chandelier above the table. Damage usually happens in three places: table legs when the table is carried assembled, buffet glass when it is laid flat, and chandelier arms when it travels in one piece. So we treat the dining room as a project of its own within the shipment.

The long table

We remove the base or legs and put the screws in a numbered bag taped under the top. A wooden top gets a moving blanket, then foam, then heavy cardboard along every edge. A marble or glass top goes into a wooden crate built to size and travels on its long edge, because marble and glass handle weight on the edge far better than lying flat.

The chairs

Chairs are wrapped in pairs, seat facing seat, so the upholstery protects itself, with an outer plastic cover against dust and cardboard on the legs. Velvet or light leather chairs get a clean fabric cover before the plastic so nothing marks them.

The chandelier and lighting

  • A technician takes the chandelier down, and it is photographed first to make reassembly in Egypt easy.
  • Bulbs come out, each crystal is wrapped on its own in soft paper and placed in a small numbered box.
  • The metal frame goes into a foam-lined carton with nothing loaded on top.

Buffet, display cabinet and mirrors

Glass shelves come out and are wrapped separately, glass doors are secured with residue-free tape or removed where possible, and large mirrors go into a wooden crate. Inside the truck or container these crates stand upright, strapped to the wall, away from heavy appliances.

Shipping irrigation pumps and small farm machines

Many Al Ain residents have farms or large gardens, and some send equipment to the family land in Egypt, or an importer ships it there for sale. Equipment travels well by road or in a container, provided it is prepared properly and its paperwork is ready before loading.

  • Draining: fuel tanks and engine oil are drained as far as possible, and batteries are disconnected or shipped separately as instructed.
  • Cleaning: equipment is washed free of soil and plant residue; caked mud and earth cause problems at inspection.
  • Pallets: each machine is strapped to a wooden pallet and wrapped, with protection for hoses and projecting parts.
  • Labelling: every pallet shows its number, approximate weight and contents, matching the packing list.

Paperwork for equipment

If the equipment is commercial, the Egyptian importer must pre-register the shipment on the NAFEZA platform and obtain an ACID number before shipping, with a commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. UAE-origin equipment with a certificate of origin may benefit from the customs-duty exemption under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), but 14% VAT and other fees still apply. Electric pumps and generators may need extra approvals, and used machinery in Egypt is subject to conditions on age and type that change from time to time, so we confirm the machine’s status with the recipient and their clearing agent before loading.

Warning: Seeds, seedlings, plants, soil, fertilisers and pesticides must not travel with furniture or equipment. They fall under Egypt’s agricultural quarantine rules and need prior approval, and finding them without a permit can stop the entire shipment.

The road route from Al Ain to Egypt

Furniture, personal effects and mixed loads usually go by road and ferry. Small shipments join the consolidated load at the warehouse, while a dedicated truck can be loaded in Al Ain and head west directly. The truck leaves the UAE through Al Ghuwaifat into Al Batha and crosses Saudi Arabia in customs transit, sealed and not cleared into the Kingdom, to Duba on the Red Sea, sometimes Jeddah, or through Jordan to Aqaba. The whole truck boards a ro-ro ferry and comes off at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba for inspection and clearance, then goes to the warehouse in Egypt where goods are delivered by smaller vehicles.

A shared load leaves when the truck fills; a dedicated truck leaves on your date. For the Saudi leg in detail, see shipping from Al Ain to Saudi Arabia.

When to choose a container

For a whole villa, or a villa plus heavy equipment, a 40 ft or 40 ft high cube container is loaded outside the house and taken to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi or Jebel Ali, then sails to Ain Sokhna, Alexandria, Port Said or Damietta. Sailing takes roughly 2–3 weeks plus handling and clearance. For a detailed port comparison, see sea freight from Abu Dhabi to Egypt.

Which suits you? Road + ferry Sea container Air
A dining room or two rooms Ideal If combined with other furniture Not suitable
A whole villa Dedicated truck Usually best (40 ft) Not suitable
Pumps and equipment on pallets Suitable Suitable for large quantities Small spare parts only
Urgent documents and spare parts Relatively slow Not suitable Best

Delivery to 6th of October and the new cities west of Cairo

Most of our customers leaving Al Ain villas move to a villa or a spacious flat in 6th of October or Sheikh Zayed, because the lifestyle is close to what they know: large plots, gardens and gated compounds. Delivery there has details worth arranging before the shipment arrives:

  • Compound permits: many compounds require an entry permit for the truck and crew, so get it from the compound management before the date.
  • Recipient details: if you won’t be there, send us the name and number of whoever is receiving, and our delivery agent will call them to set a time.
  • Assembly: the dining table, chandelier and wardrobes need reassembly; tell us in advance so we can arrange the crew.
  • Exact address: neighbourhood or district number and building, since addresses in the new cities look alike.

We also deliver to Obour, 10th of Ramadan and New Cairo / Fifth Settlement east of Cairo, and to every district of Cairo and Giza: Nasr City, Heliopolis, Maadi, Mokattam, Dokki, Mohandessin, Haram and Faisal.

Air freight from Al Ain to Egypt

Al Ain has no regular air-cargo link to Egypt on our network, so we collect from your home or farm and take the shipment to Abu Dhabi or Dubai airport, flying to Cairo International Airport or to Borg El Arab for Alexandria. It usually takes 2–5 days door to door including clearance.

  • Prices start from 15 AED per kg, on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.
  • Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000; an 80×60×40 cm box counts as 32 kg.
  • Good for a pump spare part a farmer needs quickly, documents or gifts; not suitable for furniture.
  • Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted on air cargo.

Documents for furniture, personal effects and cars

Used furniture and personal effects

  • Passport copy of the sender and the recipient.
  • A detailed contents list in Arabic or English, numbered by carton and crate.
  • If you are returning to live in Egypt, proof that your UAE residence has ended makes things easier.

Used items in reasonable quantities usually receive customs facilitation, while new items or quantities that look commercial are dutiable. We never promise full exemption; Egyptian customs decides.

Commercial goods

An ACID number from NAFEZA before shipping, a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin. Food, medicines, cosmetics and many electrical products need extra approvals.

Cars

Egypt’s rules on importing personal cars are strict and change over time. Before any booking our team checks that the car and its owner meet the current conditions; the car then goes by sea in a container or on a ro-ro vessel.

Prohibited and restricted items

  • Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment, used tyres for trade.
  • Restricted or permit needed: drones, radio and satellite transmitters, some medicines, large quantities of phones.
  • Agricultural quarantine approval needed: seeds, seedlings and plants.
  • Never with furniture: gas cylinders, fuel, flammable materials.

Collection from the villa, delivery in Egypt, clearance and customs duties are charged separately from the container price. The final price depends on volume, weight, city, packing and documents.

What affects the cost

  • Furniture volume in cubic metres and equipment weight.
  • The number of wooden crates for marble, glass and mirrors.
  • Taking down and reassembling chandeliers, wardrobes and AC units.
  • Shared or dedicated truck, or a 20 ft or 40 ft container.
  • The Egyptian city, access to the address and the floor.
  • Complete paperwork; anything missing means extra storage days at the port.

  3. The crew arrives at the agreed time to dismantle, pack and prepare pallets.
  4. The contents list is completed; for commercial equipment, the ACID number, certificate of origin and invoice.
  5. The shipment moves, and you get a WhatsApp update when it leaves the UAE, on the ferry, at clearance and when it goes out for delivery.
  6. Our delivery agent calls you or the recipient to arrange compound access or the delivery time.
  7. Delivery, assembly and a check of every crate by number.

Tips from experience

  • Photograph the chandelier and its wiring before it comes down and keep the photos on your phone.
  • Don’t leave heavy kitchenware in buffet drawers; the weight breaks the runners.
  • Let a technician dismantle AC units and seal the pipes properly.
  • Keep commercial goods separate from household items, in their own cartons and list.
  • Alexandria and the north coast are humid; add moisture absorbers with wood and mattresses if they are heading there.
  • Ask the team about optional insurance for valuable pieces.

How your shipment reaches you inside Egypt

After crossing Saudi Arabia in transit, the truck crosses the Red Sea on the ferry and lands at an Egyptian port, where inspection and clearance take place; trucks never reach Egypt by land without this sea crossing. After clearance the shipment goes to the warehouse, and from there your goods leave on smaller vehicles for Cairo, Giza, 6th of October, Sheikh Zayed, Alexandria, the Delta, the Canal cities and Upper Egypt. Containers are cleared at their arrival port, then trucked to the address or unloaded at the warehouse as agreed. To compare options from the other emirates, see the full guide to shipping from the UAE to Egypt, or shipping from Dubai to Egypt.
