If you need a shipping company from Sharjah to Egypt that will take a few cartons, some furniture or a crate of spare parts without you booking a whole truck, the usual answer is a shared load: you pay only for the cubic metres your goods occupy, and they travel with other customers’ shipments heading to roughly the same governorate. Al Basmah International Shipping collects from its Sharjah branch in Industrial Area 18 and from your home or store. The normal route is by road to a Red Sea port, then by ferry into Egypt, and delivery reaches Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig and Delta villages on small local trucks.

This guide is for the person who wants to understand the arithmetic before paying: how a cubic metre is measured, why the truck is sorted by governorate, which papers a trader needs to send tyres or spare parts, and how long the trip takes to each part of Egypt.
Shared-load arithmetic
- Cubic metres = length × width × height in metres for each packed piece, then added up.
- A 60×40×40 cm carton is about 0.1 m³, so ten cartons that size come to roughly one cubic metre.
- A shared load leaves when the truck fills; a dedicated truck leaves on your date.
- Approximate time to Mansoura, Tanta and Zagazig: 12–17 days door to door, clearance included.
- Trade goods need an ACID number obtained by the Egyptian importer before shipping, plus invoice, packing list and certificate of origin.
- Air freight starts from 15 AED per kg; a 20 ft container starts from 4,050 AED.
Collection branch
Sharjah – Industrial Area 18, and Dubai – Deira, Port Saeed Street.
How it is charged
By cubic metre for furniture and belongings; by weight or volume, whichever is higher, for heavy goods.

What we ship from Sharjah to Egypt
Sharjah is home to a large Egyptian community, and it is also full of wholesale markets and industrial areas lined with spare-parts and tyre shops. So two very different kinds of shipment come to us from Sharjah: personal belongings for a family or an employee moving part of their home, and commercial goods for a trader sending stock to a shop in the Delta.
- Flat or room furniture: beds, dismantled wardrobes, sofas, dining tables, mattresses.
- Cartons of personal effects: clothes, kitchenware, books, children’s toys, bedding.
- Used home appliances: fridge, washing machine, TV, window or dismantled split AC.
- New car spare parts in wooden crates or heavy-duty cartons: filters, spark plugs, brake pads, shock absorbers, headlamps.
- New tyres strapped on pallets, and sealed engine oils in trade quantities with their paperwork.
- General trade goods: household items, ready-made clothing, hand tools, shop stock.
- Cars, after confirming Egypt’s current import conditions, usually by container or ro-ro by sea.
How a shared load by the cubic metre works
A shared load means you do not book the truck on your own. Your goods are collected, packed and measured at the warehouse, then wait until the truck is filled by other customers. The advantage is that you pay for the volume you actually use; the only drawback is that departure depends on the truck filling, not on a date you choose.
Measuring cubic metres step by step
Each piece is measured after packing, not before, because bubble wrap and heavy cardboard add a few centimetres on every side. The rule is simple: length × width × height in metres. A practical example from everyday shipments:
| Item after packing | Approx. size | Approx. volume |
|---|---|---|
| Medium clothes carton | 60 × 40 × 40 cm | 0.096 m³ |
| Single-door fridge | 70 × 70 × 170 cm | 0.83 m³ |
| Three-seater sofa | 210 × 90 × 85 cm | 1.6 m³ |
| Wooden crate of spare parts | 80 × 60 × 60 cm | 0.29 m³ |
| Pallet of 8 tyres | 120 × 100 × 110 cm | 1.32 m³ |
Once the volumes are added, the trade adds a stowage allowance, because irregular items such as sofas and chairs leave gaps that cannot be filled. Heavy goods with little volume, like metal spare parts and oils, may be charged by weight when their weight is higher than their size suggests; you are told this clearly before collection.
Why the truck is sorted by governorate
One truck may carry a family’s belongings for Mansoura, a trader’s order for Zagazig and a young man’s cartons for Tanta. Loaded at random, the warehouse in Egypt would have to unload everything to find each shipment. So every piece is marked with the receiver’s name, governorate and order number, and stowed in the truck in blocks by governorate. At the Egyptian warehouse each block goes straight onto the delivery vehicle for its governorate, which means less repeated handling and fewer chances of scratches or lost pieces.

When to choose a dedicated truck instead
- When your goods reach half a dyna load or more; at that point a dedicated truck costs close to the sum of the metres.
- When you need a fixed arrival date, such as handing over a new flat or opening a shop.
- When the goods are sensitive and you do not want them stowed next to other shipments.
- Available: 5-ton and 7-ton dynas, a 10-ton lorry, and closed trailers 12 to 13.6 m long.
Collection areas in Sharjah
We collect from anywhere in the emirate of Sharjah with closed vans or a dyna depending on size, and goods come to the Industrial Area 18 warehouse to be packed, measured and weighed. Areas we collect from regularly:
Residential areas
Al Nahda, Al Taawun, Al Majaz, Al Qasimia, Al Khan, Abu Shagara, Muwaileh, Al Jada, Al Rahmaniya.
Industrial areas
Industrial Areas 1 to 18, Al Sajaa, and the spare-parts and tyre markets there.
Free zones
Hamriyah Free Zone and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone).
Outside the city
Al Dhaid and Mleiha, and on the east coast Kalba and Khor Fakkan by prior arrangement.
If you are in Dubai you can also drop off at the Deira branch on Port Saeed Street; see the Dubai to Egypt shipping guide. Residents of neighbouring Ajman will find family parcels and small-flat moves covered in the Ajman to Egypt guide.
Spare parts, tyres and trade goods for traders
Many spare-parts shops in Mansoura, Zagazig and Tanta buy their stock in Sharjah because the range is wide and the prices competitive. Shipping that stock differs from shipping personal effects in two ways: packing and paperwork.
Packing spare parts in crates
- Small and medium parts (filters, plugs, sensors) in their original boxes inside a wooden crate or double-wall carton.
- Glass parts and headlamps padded with foam or bubble wrap on all sides and marked “fragile”.
- Heavy parts (shock absorbers, brake discs, engine components) in wooden crates fixed to a pallet so they cannot tip.
- New tyres stacked on a pallet and strapped tightly, with the tyre count written on each pallet.
- Oils and fluids in sealed original containers, inside a carton lined with a plastic bag to contain any leak.

Trade paperwork: ACID and certificate of origin
Egypt runs an advance cargo registration system. The importer in Egypt registers the shipment on the NAFEZA platform and obtains an ACID number before the goods leave Sharjah; a commercial shipment is not accepted without it. On the other side, the exporter in the UAE, meaning the supplier or selling trader, registers on the CargoX platform and uploads the documents electronically.
- A commercial invoice in the Egyptian importer’s name, describing each item with quantity and price.
- A packing list showing the contents and weight of each crate.
- A certificate of origin; UAE-origin goods may benefit from the customs-duty exemption under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, while Egyptian VAT (14%) and other fees still apply.
- The Egyptian importer’s commercial register and tax card.
Note that car spare parts are among the goods that may be subject to conformity inspection by Egypt’s General Organization for Export and Import Control, so ask your importer or clearing agent about the requirements for your item before you buy, especially tyres. Used tyres for trade are prohibited outright.
Warning: Do not send trade goods as “personal effects” to save on duty. Repeated quantities of the same item give the shipment away at inspection, the whole load is held, and every other customer on the truck is delayed with it.
The route from Sharjah to Egypt
The usual route for furniture, personal effects and mixed loads combines road and sea. The truck does not drive into Egypt directly; it crosses the Red Sea on a ferry. The stages in order:
- Shipments are consolidated and sorted by governorate at the Industrial Area 18 warehouse.
- The truck leaves the UAE through Al Ghuwaifat and enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha.
- It crosses Saudi Arabia in customs transit with a sealed load, not cleared into the Kingdom; the road is covered in the Sharjah to Saudi Arabia guide.
- It reaches a Red Sea port, mainly Duba and sometimes Jeddah, or goes through Jordan to Aqaba.
- The whole truck boards a ro-ro ferry and comes off at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba.
- Inspection and customs clearance take place at the arrival port.
- The truck heads to the warehouse in Egypt, and each block is unloaded onto delivery vehicles by governorate.
The team sends you a WhatsApp update at each stage: collection, loading, border exit, ferry boarding, clearance completed, then delivery time. For a comparison of routes from every emirate, see the main UAE to Egypt shipping guide.
How long does shipping from Sharjah to Egypt take?
Door to door by road and ferry takes roughly 10 to 18 days depending on the governorate, clearance included. These figures are approximate and depend on how fast the shared truck fills, port congestion and how complete the paperwork is.
| Area in Egypt | Road + ferry (approx.) | Sea container | Air |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cairo and Giza | 10–15 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days |
| 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed | 10–15 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days |
| Alexandria | 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days (Borg El Arab) |
| Delta: Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig | 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days + delivery from Cairo |
| Canal cities: Ismailia, Port Said, Suez | 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days + delivery |
| Red Sea: Hurghada, Safaga | Often quicker, near the arrival port | Not usual | 2–5 days + delivery |
| Upper Egypt: Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan | 12–18 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days + delivery |
Delivery in Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig and the Delta villages
The Delta is the most frequent destination for Sharjah shipments. A large truck cannot get into Mansoura’s narrow streets or along farm roads, so delivery happens in two steps: the truck unloads at the warehouse, then each governorate’s block leaves on a small local truck (a quarter-ton pickup or a small box truck) that reaches the door of the house or shop.
Dakahlia
Mansoura, Talkha, Mit Ghamr and surrounding towns and villages.
Gharbia
Tanta, El Mahalla El Kubra, Kafr El Zayat and Zefta.
Sharqia
Zagazig, Minya El Qamh, Belbeis and 10th of Ramadan.
Rest of the Delta
Damanhour, Kafr El Sheikh, Damietta and Shebin El Kom.

For villages, send a clear address: village and district name, the nearest landmark such as a mosque, school or minibus stop, and an Egyptian phone number that someone at home will answer. That alone sometimes saves a whole day. If the home is on a high floor without a lift, say so in advance so the right number of workers is arranged.
Write the governorate in Arabic in large letters on two opposite sides of every carton, with the receiver’s name and number. A carton that carries only a name can end up stowed with another governorate.
Air freight from Sharjah to Egypt
Air freight suits the urgent parcel: documents, a spare part a workshop in Tanta needs within days, gifts, product samples. Shipments fly from Sharjah, Dubai or Abu Dhabi airport to Cairo International Airport, or Borg El Arab for Alexandria, and usually take 2 to 5 days door to door including clearance.
- Price starts from 15 AED per kg, charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.
- Volumetric weight = L × W × H in cm ÷ 6000. A 50×40×40 cm carton counts as about 13.3 kg even if it weighs only 6 kg.
- Not suitable for furniture or large appliances.
- Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted by air; ask the team before packing.

Container sea freight from Sharjah
For large quantities, such as a whole shop’s stock or villa furniture, a container is usually more economical. It leaves from Jebel Ali, from Khor Fakkan, Sharjah’s port on the east coast, or from Khalifa Port, and arrives at Ain Sokhna via the Red Sea or at Alexandria, Port Said or Damietta via the Suez Canal. Sailing takes about 2 to 3 weeks plus port handling and clearance. Damietta port in particular is close to Mansoura, which helps a trader importing a full container into Dakahlia.
Documents by type of shipment
Personal effects and used furniture
- Passport copy of the sender or receiver.
- A detailed contents list in Arabic or English, carton by carton.
- For someone returning to live in Egypt, proof that residence in the UAE has ended helps with facilitation.
- Used items in reasonable quantities usually get customs facilitation; new items or trade quantities are dutiable. Full exemption is never guaranteed.
Trade goods
An ACID number before shipping, commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, with the importer’s details. Food, medicines, cosmetics and many electrical products need extra approvals from the relevant Egyptian authorities.
Cars
Egypt’s rules on importing personal cars are strict and change. Before shipping any car the team checks whether the car and its owner meet the conditions in force at the time, and only then books it. Cars usually go by container or ro-ro by sea.
Prohibited and restricted items
- Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment, used tyres for trade.
- Prior permit needed or restricted: drones, radio and satellite transmitters, some medicines, mobile phones in large quantities.
- Better not shipped: cash, jewellery, sole original official documents; carry them with you.
- Flammables such as gas, petrol and pressurised spray cans are not shipped.

What decides the cost of your shipment?
- Volume in cubic metres for a shared load, and weight for heavy goods.
- Governorate: delivering to a village far from the governorate capital differs from central Mansoura.
- Packing: wooden crates add cost and volume but protect heavy parts.
- Method: road and ferry, sea container, or air.
- Type of shipment: personal or commercial, since trade goods carry duty and VAT in Egypt.
- Floors and lifts at collection in Sharjah and delivery in Egypt.
- Optional insurance: ask the team about the options.
How to ship from Sharjah to Egypt, step by step
- Send a list or photos of your items on WhatsApp +971524669941, with the governorate and city in Egypt.
- The team estimates the cubic metres, suggests shared, dedicated or air, and sends the price.
- Traders: send the importer’s details so the ACID can be obtained before loading.
- We set a collection time from your home or shop in Sharjah, or you drop off at Industrial Area 18.
- Packing, measuring and weighing at the warehouse, then the final volume is confirmed with you.
- Your shipment is sorted with its governorate and loaded, with a WhatsApp message at every stage.
- Clearance at the arrival port, then delivery by small truck to the door.
Tips before you ship
- Photograph every item before packing, especially appliances and new furniture.
- Dismantle wardrobes and beds and tie the screws in a bag to the piece itself.
- Unplug the fridge and washing machine a full day ahead and drain all water before collection.
- Delta humidity and Upper Egypt heat affect wood and leather; tight plastic wrap plus heavy cardboard works best.
- Spare-parts traders: do not buy until you are sure the importer is ready with register and tax card.
- Never mix trade goods with household items in the same carton.
Frequently asked questions about shipping from Sharjah to Egypt
Can I ship just one or two cartons from Sharjah to Egypt?
Yes, that is what a shared load is for. The cartons are charged by their packed volume and join a truck bound for Egypt, or go by air if they are urgent and light.
How do I know my volume in cubic metres before collection?
Send a list of items with sizes or clear photos and the team gives you an estimate. The final figure is confirmed after measuring at the warehouse and shared with you before loading.
Do shipments reach villages in the Delta?
Yes, village delivery is done by small trucks from the warehouse in Egypt. Send the village and district name, a nearby landmark and an Egyptian contact number.
What paperwork do I need to ship spare parts for trade?
An ACID number obtained by the importer on NAFEZA before shipping, the exporter’s registration on CargoX, plus a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the importer’s tax details.
Are UAE goods exempt from customs duty in Egypt?
UAE-origin goods with a certificate of origin may be exempt from customs duty under the Arab free-trade area, but Egypt’s 14% VAT and other fees still apply.
When does a shared load leave?
When the truck is full. If your date cannot wait, a dedicated truck or air freight is the option.
Does the truck drive all the way to Egypt?
No. It crosses Saudi Arabia in transit to a Red Sea port, boards a ferry as a whole truck and comes off at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba, where clearance takes place.
How do I follow my shipment?
The team sends you a WhatsApp update at each stage: collection, loading, border exit, ferry, clearance and delivery time.
