Container or truck?

  • A whole home (two rooms or more) with heavy wooden furniture: a 20 ft or 40 ft container from a port near you is usually the better value and the safer choice.
  • One room or a living room plus personal effects: road + ferry in a shared truck, reaching Cairo in roughly 10–15 days.
  • Upper Egypt (Assiut, Sohag, Minya, Qena, Luxor, Aswan): about 12–18 days by road, delivered to the door by local trucks.
  • Documents or light urgent items: air freight from Dubai or Sharjah airport to Cairo in about 2–5 days.
  • Get a price: send photos and the delivery city on WhatsApp +971524669941.

What we ship from Fujairah to Egypt

We ship everything a resident needs when moving home for good or sending things to family: full household furniture, personal effects, appliances, commercial goods and parcels. Most requests from the east coast come from families who lived for years in Fujairah, Kalba or Dibba and now want to move the living room, the wooden majlis seating and the bedrooms to the family house in Upper Egypt or to a new flat in Cairo.

Living room and majlis

Sofas, coffee tables, bookcases and carved or arabesque wood that needs special packing.

Bedrooms and kids’ rooms

Wardrobes and beds are dismantled and every part is numbered for easy reassembly in Egypt.

Home appliances

Fridges, washing machines and TVs in heavy-duty cartons or wooden crates.

Personal effects

Clothes, books, kitchenware and gifts in numbered cartons with a contents list.

Commercial goods

Stock for a shop or company in Egypt, with invoice, certificate of origin and an ACID number in advance.

Parcels and documents

Small urgent shipments flown to Cairo or Alexandria.

We also ship cars, but Egypt applies strict and changing rules on importing personal vehicles. We never book a car until our team has checked its model and the owner’s situation against the rules in force at the time of the request. More on that under documents below.

Pickup areas in Fujairah and the east coast

We collect from any address in the Emirate of Fujairah and the neighbouring east-coast towns. The packing crew arrives in a small closed van or a 5-ton or 7-ton dyna depending on volume, and either takes the goods to the warehouse to be consolidated with other shipments or loads them straight into your own container or dedicated truck.

  • Fujairah City: Al Faseel, Sakamkam, Merashid, Al Gurfa, Madhab and the industrial area.
  • Fujairah Free Zone: commercial goods and shipments leaving warehouses.
  • Dibba Al Fujairah, Al Bidiyah and Mirbah along the northern coast road.
  • Masafi, Qidfa and Al Tawyeen inland and in the mountain areas.
  • Kalba and Khor Fakkan (part of Sharjah, on the east coast) on the same pickup run.

If you only have a few items and can bring them yourself, drop them at one of our branches: Dubai – Deira, Port Saeed Street, or Sharjah – Industrial Area 18. Living elsewhere in the north? See shipping from Sharjah to Egypt and shipping from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt.

Full container from Fujairah port or truck with ferry?

The choice comes down to three things: how much you are moving, where in Egypt it is going, and how soon you need it. Fujairah has an advantage the other emirates lack: Fujairah port and Khor Fakkan port are minutes from most neighbourhoods and sit on the Gulf of Oman coast facing the Arabian Sea, so a container can go from your door to the quay on the same day without the long haul to Jebel Ali.

Factor Full container (sea) Truck + ferry (road)
Best for A whole home, a villa or heavy wooden furniture A room or living room, personal effects, mid-size loads
Loading point Outside your home, then Fujairah or Khor Fakkan port Your home to the warehouse, then the truck
Arrival port Ain Sokhna, Alexandria, Port Said or Damietta Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba
Approximate time 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance 10–18 days door to door depending on the city
Handling Less: sealed at your home, opened in Egypt More: warehouse, truck, then local distribution
Price Starts from 4,050 AED for a 20 ft container Send the details on WhatsApp and get your price

Our rule of thumb: once your furniture fills more than half a 20 ft container, a full container usually becomes competitive on cost and gives you extra peace of mind, because nobody touches your belongings between Fujairah and Egypt. For a small load, a shared truck is cheaper because you only pay for your own volume.

How a container is loaded at your door

We book the container with the shipping line and it arrives on a trailer at your address at the agreed time. The crew packs everything inside the house, then stows it in the container: heavy pieces on the floor and against the walls, delicate pieces in the middle, with lashing straps and padding between layers so nothing shifts at sea. Once closed, the container is sealed and heads to the port, and we send you a photo of the seal and its number on WhatsApp. A 40 ft high cube suits villas and large homes because the extra height takes tall wardrobes.

The road route: Fujairah to the Red Sea, then Egypt

Road freight is the usual choice for mid-size furniture loads and personal effects. Shipments are consolidated at the warehouse, then the truck leaves the UAE through Al Ghuwaifat into Al Batha and crosses Saudi Arabia in customs transit, sealed and not cleared into the Kingdom, to Duba on the Red Sea, sometimes Jeddah, or through Jordan to Aqaba. There the whole truck drives onto a ro-ro ferry and comes off in Egypt at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba, where inspection and customs clearance take place.

  1. Collection in Fujairah, packing and the contents list.
  2. Consolidation at the warehouse and loading the truck (shared or dedicated).
  3. Exit at Al Ghuwaifat and sealed transit across Saudi Arabia.
  4. Arrival at Duba, Jeddah or Aqaba and boarding the ferry.
  5. Landing at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba, inspection and clearance.
  6. Unloading at the warehouse in Egypt and delivery to each address by smaller vehicles.

A shared load leaves when the truck fills; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you choose. For the Saudi leg in more detail, see our guide to shipping from Fujairah to Saudi Arabia.

Delivery to Assiut and all of Upper Egypt

Many of our Fujairah customers come from Upper Egypt, so delivery south of Cairo is a core service for us, not an add-on. After clearance at the arrival port the shipment goes to the warehouse in Egypt, and from there local trucks take it to Assiut, Sohag, Minya, Beni Suef, Qena, Luxor and Aswan. In villages and narrow streets we switch to a smaller vehicle so your things reach the front door, not the end of the road.

  • Minya and Beni Suef: the closest part of Upper Egypt to Cairo, usually a day or two after Cairo deliveries.
  • Assiut and Sohag: delivery in the city, the surrounding districts and villages, with the address and recipient’s number confirmed in advance.
  • Qena, Luxor and Aswan: reached from the Red Sea ports by the desert roads, with distribution from the warehouse along the delivery run.
  • Upper floors of the family house: tell us in advance about narrow stairs or no lift so we can arrange the crew for carrying and assembly.

Bear in mind that summers in Upper Egypt are very hot and dry, and wood that has spent years in the humid east-coast air can react to a sudden change. Don’t leave furniture in the sun on delivery, unwrap it indoors, and give wooden pieces a day or two before tightening all the screws.

Air freight from Fujairah to Egypt

Air freight is for urgent, light items: documents, permitted personal medicines with a prescription, spare parts, gifts, or a suitcase of clothes you need before the rest of the shipment arrives. We collect in Fujairah and take the shipment to Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi airport, flying to Cairo International Airport or to Borg El Arab for Alexandria. It usually takes 2–5 days door to door including clearance.

  • Prices start from 15 AED per kg, charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.
  • Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 60×50×50 cm carton counts as 25 kg even if it actually weighs 12 kg.
  • Air does not suit furniture; the volume charge soon exceeds the value of the pieces.
  • Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted on air cargo, so ask before you pack.

Packing living-room furniture and carved wood

Homes in Fujairah often hold heavy wooden pieces: Arabic majlis seating, carved doors and wardrobes, arabesque tables and inlaid chairs. These don’t survive quick stretch-wrapping alone; raised carving snaps under pressure, and varnish sticks to plastic when moisture is trapped underneath.

  • Soft paper or a moving blanket directly on carved wood, then foam, then the outer wrap; we never put cling film straight onto varnish.
  • Cardboard or foam corner guards on edges and carved ends.
  • Very delicate pieces, such as carved screens and frames, go into wooden crates built to size.
  • Sofas get a fabric cover then plastic; legs come off and go into a numbered bag with the screws.
  • Mirrors and glass stand on edge inside a crate, never laid flat under heavy items.
  • Moisture-absorbing sachets inside wardrobes and the container, especially for Alexandria or the Delta.

Tip from the field: photograph every carved piece from two angles before packing and send the photos to us on WhatsApp. They help with numbering and make checking easier on delivery.

Documents needed to ship to Egypt

Personal effects and used furniture

  • Passport copy of the sender and the recipient.
  • A detailed contents list in Arabic or English, each carton with its number and contents.
  • If you are returning to live in Egypt, proof that your UAE residence has ended helps the process.

Used personal items in reasonable quantities usually receive customs facilitation, while new appliances still in their boxes or quantities that look commercial are dutiable. Full exemption is never guaranteed; the final decision rests with customs at the arrival port.

Commercial goods

The Egyptian importer must pre-register the shipment on the NAFEZA platform and obtain an ACID number before the goods are shipped, along with a commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. UAE-origin goods with a certificate of origin may benefit from the customs-duty exemption under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), but Egypt’s 14% VAT and other fees still apply. Food, medicines, cosmetics and many electrical products need extra approvals.

Cars

Egypt’s rules on importing personal cars are strict and change from time to time, covering model year, who may import and how payment is made. Before shipping, our team checks whether the car and its owner meet the current conditions, and only then do we book. Cars usually go by sea, in a container or on a ro-ro vessel.

Prohibited and restricted items

  • Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment, used tyres for trade.
  • Prior permit needed or restricted: drones, radio and satellite transmitters, some medicines, and large quantities of mobile phones.
  • Never pack with furniture: gas cylinders, fuel, large batteries or flammable materials.

Warning: Anything missing from the contents list can hold up the whole shipment at inspection in Safaga or Nuweiba, including other customers’ goods on a shared truck. List everything clearly.

Air freight 15 AED per kg (actual or volumetric, whichever is higher)
20 ft container 4,050 AED (port to port)
40 ft container 6,750 AED (port to port)

Container prices are port to port; collection from home, delivery in Egypt, clearance and duties are quoted separately depending on the case. The final price always depends on volume, weight, city, packing and documents.

What pushes the cost up or down

  • Volume in cubic metres: the basis of shared road freight.
  • Delivery city: Cairo and Giza are close to the warehouse; Upper Egypt and remote villages add distribution distance.
  • Packing type: wooden crates for carved pieces and glass cost more but save you a bigger loss.
  • Shared or dedicated: a dedicated truck moves on your date and costs more.
  • Floor and access: a high floor with no lift or a narrow street needs a bigger crew.
  • Documents: missing paperwork means extra days at the port, and those days carry storage charges.

Tips before shipping from Fujairah

  • Start arranging at least two weeks before your travel date, especially if you choose a container.
  • Don’t mix new goods with used items in the same cartons; pack them separately and list them.
  • Write the recipient’s name and Egyptian phone number clearly on every carton.
  • Keep important documents, gold and cash with you, never in the shipment.
  • If the recipient is not the owner, send us their name and number early.
  • Ask the team about optional insurance if you have high-value pieces.

How delivery inside Egypt works

The Egyptian leg is what shapes your experience in the end. The truck from Fujairah crosses Saudi Arabia in transit without clearance, crosses the Red Sea on the ferry, and is inspected and cleared at the Egyptian arrival port. The big truck then does not go to your street: it is unloaded at the warehouse and your goods go out on smaller vehicles suited to local streets and governorates. We cover Cairo (Nasr City, Heliopolis, Maadi, New Cairo / Fifth Settlement, Shubra, Mokattam), Giza (Dokki, Mohandessin, Haram, Faisal), 6th of October, Sheikh Zayed, Obour, 10th of Ramadan, Alexandria (Smouha, Sidi Gaber, Miami, Agami, Borg El Arab), the Delta, the Canal cities, Hurghada and Safaga, and all of Upper Egypt.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a shipment take from Fujairah to Cairo?

By road and ferry about 10–15 days door to door including clearance; by sea in a container about 2–3 weeks sailing plus handling and clearance; by air 2–5 days. All times are approximate.

Can the container be loaded outside my home in Fujairah?

Yes. The container arrives on a trailer at your address, the crew packs and loads on site, then it is sealed and taken to Fujairah or Khor Fakkan port. You only need space for the trailer to park.

Do you deliver to Assiut, Sohag and Luxor?

Yes, to every Upper Egypt governorate: Minya, Beni Suef, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan. It takes about 12–18 days by road, delivered to the door by local trucks.

How do you protect carved wooden furniture?

It is wrapped in a soft layer, then foam, then an outer wrap, with corner guards, and delicate pieces go into made-to-size wooden crates. We avoid putting plastic straight onto varnish so no moisture gets trapped.

Will I pay customs duty on my used furniture?

Used items in reasonable quantities usually get facilitation, while new items and commercial quantities are dutiable. There is no guaranteed full exemption; Egyptian customs decides.

How will I know where my shipment is?

The team sends you a WhatsApp update at each stage: leaving the UAE, boarding the ferry, arrival and clearance, and out for delivery. You can ask at any time on +971524669941.

What is the smallest load you ship by road to Egypt?

We accept small loads on the shared truck, even a few cartons. Send the sizes and number of pieces on WhatsApp and get your price.

Can I ship my car from Fujairah to Egypt?

We first check the car’s model and the owner’s situation against Egypt’s current import rules; if it qualifies, we book it by sea in a container or on a ro-ro vessel.
