This guide is written for people shipping home appliances and heavy goods in particular, because these are the two things most likely to arrive damaged or get held at customs when they are prepared the wrong way. It covers how to get each appliance ready, what paperwork a trader needs before the pallets move, the approximate transit time to each Egyptian city, and the prices shipping starts from.
Getting appliances ready to travel
- Switch off the fridge and freezer a full day before collection so the ice melts and the inside dries.
- Drain the washing machine through the hose and pump filter, and refit the transit bolts if you have them.
- A split AC needs a technician to pump the gas into the outdoor unit before it is dismantled.
- Every appliance is wrapped in foam and strong cartons; glass and screens go in wooden crates where needed.
- Keep the invoices and photos of the serial numbers; they help at customs and with optional insurance.
- Commercial pallets need an ACID number from the NAFEZA platform before shipping, plus a certificate of origin.
What do we ship from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt?
We ship anything leaving a home, shop or warehouse in Ras Al Khaimah for Egypt, but most requests from the emirate fall into two groups: families moving their appliances and furniture after years of living here, and traders sending pallets of tiles, ceramics, sanitary ware and building materials. The emirate is known for its ceramics factories, quarries and construction-related industry.
- Large appliances: single- and double-door fridges, chest freezers, front- and top-loading washers, dryers, dishwashers.
- Air conditioning: split units with both parts, window units and portable ACs.
- Kitchen appliances: electric ovens and gas cookers (without gas cylinders), microwaves, cooker hoods, water heaters.
- Screens and electronics: TVs, sound systems, desktop computers.
- Furniture and personal effects: bedrooms, sofas, rugs, cartons of clothes, kitchenware and books.
- Commercial pallets: tiles and ceramics, marble and stone, sanitary ware, sealed paints, hand tools, spare parts.
- Cars: by container or ro-ro vessel, after confirming the car and its owner meet Egypt’s current import conditions.
Appliances alone can make a full shipment: a fridge, a washer, two ACs and an oven take up several cubic metres, which is why we price them by volume rather than by count. Send photos of the appliances on WhatsApp before collection so the volume can be estimated properly and the right space booked on the truck.
How to prepare home appliances for shipping to Egypt
An appliance shipped wet, with gas still in its pipes, or with an unsecured drum is the one that arrives broken. The trip to Egypt is long: a road leg across Saudi Arabia, a ferry crossing, then another road leg inside Egypt, and the heat inside a truck in summer is serious. So we ask you to do a few things before collection day, and our team handles the rest.

Fridge and freezer
Unplug the fridge at least twenty-four hours before collection, empty it, and leave the door open until the ice has melted, then dry it thoroughly. Moisture trapped in a closed fridge for two weeks means a mouldy smell on arrival. Glass shelves and drawers come out and are wrapped one by one. The fridge travels upright wherever possible, and once it arrives in Egypt, leave it standing for several hours before switching it on so the compressor oil settles.
Washer, dryer and dishwasher
Drain the leftover water from the drain hose and from the pump filter at the bottom; otherwise it leaks into the cartons next to it. Front loaders have transit bolts that lock the drum. If you still have them, fit them; if they are lost, our team braces the drum with foam from inside. Hoses and cables are tied to the back of the machine, never left hanging.
Air conditioners
A split AC is not removed by cutting the pipes. A technician pumps the refrigerant into the outdoor unit, disconnects the pipes and caps the ends, then the indoor and outdoor units are packed in separate cartons. We can arrange the dismantling with the collection if you ask when booking. A window unit travels in its normal position and is never laid on its side.
Kitchen appliances and screens
A gas cooker ships empty and without a cylinder, because gas cylinders are not shipped with household goods. Oven glass and microwave doors are protected with a sheet of heavy cardboard. Flat screens break more than anything else; put them back in the original box if you kept it, otherwise we build a wooden crate to size.
Foam, cartons and invoices
Each appliance gets a full layer of foam, corner protectors, stretch film against dust and moisture, then a strong carton or a wooden frame for heavy units. Before the carton is closed, photograph the appliance and its serial number, and keep the invoice if you have it. The invoice helps show the appliance is used and part of your personal effects, sets its value if you want optional insurance, and makes it easy to answer any question at Egyptian customs.
The day before collection
Switch off and dry the fridge, drain the washer, empty the kitchen appliances.
Collection day
Dismantle the ACs, wrap each appliance in foam and cartons, number and photograph every piece.
At the warehouse
Heavy appliances are loaded upright at the bottom, light cartons on top.
After arrival
Leave the fridge and AC standing for several hours before switching them on.
Shipping commercial pallets from Ras Al Khaimah: tiles and building materials
Tiles, ceramics and marble are heavy, so a truck reaches its weight limit long before it is full by volume. That is why commercial pallets are priced on weight and volume together, and the number of pallets on a truck or in a container is planned so it stays within the limits allowed on Saudi and Egyptian roads. We collect pallets from the factory or warehouse in Ras Al Khaimah with a truck fitted with a crane, or send a forklift depending on the site.

Building a pallet so the tiles do not crack
- Boxes are stacked tightly with no gaps, rows interlocked like brickwork.
- Cardboard or plastic edge protectors on all four vertical edges before strapping.
- Plastic straps, then stretch film from the base to the top.
- A clear label on every pallet: importer name, pallet number, weight, “Fragile” and “This side up”.
- Nothing is stacked on tile pallets unless it is much lighter.
Paperwork for a commercial shipment to Egypt
Commercial goods do not move until the Egyptian importer has registered the shipment on the NAFEZA platform and received an ACID number, which then appears on the commercial invoice and the shipping documents. After that the shipment needs a detailed commercial invoice, a packing list showing the number of pallets and the weight of each, and a certificate of origin issued by the emirate’s chamber of commerce. The UAE certificate of origin matters because UAE-origin goods can benefit from the customs-duty exemption under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, although Egypt’s 14% VAT and other fees still apply.
Also note that some products imported commercially into Egypt require the manufacturing plant to be registered with Egypt’s General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), including ceramic sanitary ware such as basins and toilets, and many household electrical appliances. If your commercial shipment falls into these categories, the importer should confirm the registration before booking so the goods are not held at the port.
Pickup areas in Ras Al Khaimah
We collect from every part of Ras Al Khaimah, from residential districts to industrial and free zones, and send the vehicle that fits the load: a closed van for a few appliances and cartons, a 5-ton or 7-ton dyna for a full home, or a 10-ton lorry or closed trailer for pallets.
- City centre and nearby districts: Al Nakheel, Al Dhait, Julphar, Al Mamourah, Khuzam, Al Qusaidat, Seih Al Uraibi, Al Dhaisah.
- Coastal communities: Al Hamra Village, Al Jazirah Al Hamra, Mina Al Arab, Al Marjan.
- The north: Al Rams, Shaam, Al Jeer, and the areas around Khor Khwair and Saqr Port.
- South and inland: Digdaga, Al Hamraniyah, Khatt, Al Ghail, Wadi Al Bih.
- Industrial and free zones: the Al Hamra industrial zone, Al Ghail industrial area and the Khor Khwair industrial areas.
After collection, the shipment goes to our warehouse in Sharjah Industrial Area 18, where Egypt-bound shipments are consolidated and loaded. If you are close to Sharjah and prefer to drop off yourself, see the Sharjah to Egypt shipping guide.
How does a shipment get from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt?
The usual route for appliances, furniture and mixed pallets is road plus ferry. The truck does not drive into Egypt overland; it crosses the Red Sea on a ferry. These are the stages in order:
- Collection in Ras Al Khaimah, packing, and transfer to the warehouse in Sharjah.
- Consolidation, loading and sealing the truck, and preparing the transit documents.
- Leaving the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat and entering Saudi Arabia at Al Batha.
- Crossing Saudi Arabia under customs transit: the load is sealed and not cleared into Saudi Arabia.
- Reaching a Red Sea port, mainly Duba and sometimes Jeddah, or going through Jordan to Aqaba.
- The whole truck boards a ro-ro ferry and comes off at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba.
- Inspection and customs clearance at the Egyptian arrival port.
- Transfer to the warehouse in Egypt, unloading, then delivery to each customer by smaller vehicles.
At each stage our team sends you an update on WhatsApp: at loading, at the UAE exit, when the truck boards the ferry, after clearance, and the day before delivery. For more on the road leg through Saudi Arabia, see the Ras Al Khaimah to Saudi Arabia shipping guide.
How long does shipping from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt take?
The times below are approximate, door to door, including clearance, and count from when the truck leaves. A shared load leaves when the truck fills; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you choose.
| Area in Egypt | Road + ferry | Sea (container) | Air |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cairo and Giza | 10–15 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
| 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed | 10–15 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
| Alexandria | 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
| Delta (Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig) | 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
| Canal cities (Ismailia, Port Said, Suez) | 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
| Red Sea (Hurghada, Safaga) | Often quicker, close to the arrival port | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
| Upper Egypt (Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan) | 12–18 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + handling and clearance | 2–5 days |
Sea freight in containers leaves from Jebel Ali, Khalifa Port, Fujairah or Khor Fakkan and arrives at Ain Sokhna via the Red Sea, or at Alexandria, Port Said or Damietta via the Suez Canal. It suits a full container for a tile trader or the contents of a whole villa, and the container can be loaded at your warehouse door.
Air freight from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt
Air is the option when the shipment cannot wait: a spare part for a broken appliance, documents, clothes for the first days, or tile samples a trader wants to show before the container lands. We take the shipment to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airport, Sharjah being the closest of our airports to Ras Al Khaimah, and it arrives at Cairo International Airport, or Borg El Arab for Alexandria, in roughly 2–5 days door to door including clearance.

Air freight starts from 15 AED per kg, charged on the actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. For example, a 60 × 50 × 40 cm carton has a volumetric weight of 20 kg, so if it actually weighs 8 kg it is charged as 20 kg. That is why air does not suit large appliances, furniture or tiles: their volume or weight makes them far more expensive than road.
- Loose lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted by air; check with the team before packing.
- Small devices with a built-in battery must be listed in the contents list.
- An air parcel needs a recipient name and an Egyptian phone number that answers.
Delivery to Hurghada and the rest of Egypt
Hurghada is one of the closest cities to where the ferry lands: Safaga lies a little over fifty kilometres to its south, and the ferry may dock at Hurghada port itself. So shipments for Hurghada and Safaga usually arrive before those for Cairo and the Delta, which suits anyone fitting out a flat or a shop there who wants the appliances quickly. From Safaga the road also runs west to Qena and on to Luxor, Aswan and Sohag.

After clearance, the load goes to the warehouse in Egypt, shipments are sorted, and each one leaves in a smaller vehicle for its address: Cairo districts such as Nasr City, Heliopolis, Maadi and New Cairo; Giza, Dokki, Mohandessin, Haram and Faisal; 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed; Alexandria; Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig, Damanhour and Kafr El Sheikh; Ismailia, Port Said, Suez and Damietta; and down to Assiut, Minya and Beni Suef in Upper Egypt.
- The team calls you or the recipient before delivery to set the time.
- Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift in advance; big fridges may not fit narrow lifts.
- Check the appliances on delivery and photograph anything you notice before signing.
- Commercial pallets are delivered to the importer’s warehouse or the project site with a vehicle equipped for unloading.
Documents needed to ship from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt
Used appliances and personal effects
- A copy of the passport.
- A detailed contents list in Arabic or English: each appliance by name, type and quantity.
- Appliance invoices where available, especially for recent purchases.
- If you are returning to live in Egypt, proof that your residence abroad has ended helps with clearance.
Used appliances in reasonable quantities for one household usually get customs facilitation, while new appliances in their boxes or quantities that look commercial, such as three identical washers, are dutiable. Nobody can promise you a full exemption; the decision belongs to Egyptian customs.
Commercial goods
- An ACID number from NAFEZA, registered by the Egyptian importer before shipping.
- Commercial invoice and packing list.
- UAE certificate of origin.
- Extra approvals for some products such as food, medicines, cosmetics and many electrical goods.
Cars
Egypt’s rules on importing personal cars are strict and change from time to time. Before shipping any car, our team checks that the car and its owner meet the conditions in force, and only then books the shipment, usually by container or ro-ro vessel.
Prohibited and restricted items for Egypt
- Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment, used tyres for trade.
- Restricted or permit required: drones, radio and satellite transmitters, some medicines, and large quantities of mobile phones.
- Not shipped with household goods: gas cylinders, fuel and flammable materials.

| Cars and parcels | Send the details on WhatsApp and get the price |
Container prices are port to port; door delivery, clearance and duties are quoted separately.
What pushes the cost up or down?
- Volume in cubic metres: a double-door fridge alone takes a lot of space; dismantling what can be dismantled saves volume.
- Weight: the deciding factor for tiles and marble.
- City in Egypt: the Red Sea coast is closer; far Upper Egypt and Alexandria add distance.
- Packing type: wooden crates for screens and glass cost more but prevent losses.
- Shared or dedicated: a dedicated truck leaves on your date and costs more.
- Extra services: AC dismantling and reinstallation, crane, high floors with no lift.
- Documents and fees: duties and VAT on commercial goods and new appliances.

Tips before you ship appliances and goods
Photograph every appliance working the day before you unplug it, and photograph its serial number. Those photos settle any question about its condition after arrival, and help at customs if you are asked whether it is used.
- Do not pack other items inside the fridge or washer to save space; the extra weight breaks shelves and complicates inspection.
- List the appliances by their real names in the contents list, not just “household items”.
- If the appliances have UAE plugs, make sure you have suitable adaptors in Egypt.
- A trader should start the ACID registration before booking the truck, not after.
Warning: Do not ship new appliances in commercial quantities as personal effects, and do not hide undeclared goods inside appliances; that stops the whole shipment at customs and exposes it to fines.
FAQ: shipping from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt
Can I ship just a fridge and a washer from Ras Al Khaimah to Egypt?
Yes. They travel on a shared truck with other shipments and are priced by volume. Send photos, rough sizes and the destination city on WhatsApp.
How many days does shipping from Ras Al Khaimah to Hurghada take?
Hurghada and Safaga shipments are usually quicker than Cairo because the ferry lands nearby; timing is approximate and depends on when the truck leaves and on clearance. Cairo and Giza take about 10–15 days door to door.
Do I need a technician to remove a split AC before shipping?
Yes. The gas must be pumped into the outdoor unit and the pipes capped before dismantling. We can arrange it with the collection if you ask when booking.
Do used home appliances pay customs duty in Egypt?
Used appliances in reasonable household quantities usually get facilitation, while new or commercial-looking quantities are dutiable. The decision belongs to Egyptian customs, and full exemption cannot be promised.
What does a tile trader need to ship pallets to Egypt?
An ACID number from NAFEZA registered by the Egyptian importer before shipping, a commercial invoice, a packing list and a UAE certificate of origin, which allows the Arab free-trade duty exemption while the 14% VAT still applies.
Can I ship a full container from Ras Al Khaimah?
Yes. A 20 ft container starts from 4,050 AED and a 40 ft from 6,750 AED port to port, and it can be loaded at your door.
How do I know where my shipment is?
Our team sends you a WhatsApp update at each stage: loading, leaving the UAE, boarding the ferry, clearance, and before delivery.
Is there insurance for the appliances?
Ask the team about optional insurance when booking; invoices and photos help set the value of the appliances.
