What we ship from Dubai to Egypt
Most people who contact us from Dubai fall into one of two groups: tower residents heading back to Egypt or sending part of their furniture to family, and traders who buy in Dubai’s markets and warehouses and need the stock in their Cairo shop or store. We pack and document the two very differently, but they travel on the same line.
- Apartment contents: bedrooms, sofas, dining tables, mattresses, curtains, kitchenware, clothes and books.
- Home appliances: fridge, washing machine, oven, TVs, dismantled AC units and small kitchen appliances.
- Commercial goods: cartons of clothing, shoes, housewares and accessories, stacked on pallets and stretch-wrapped.
- Electronics: screens, computers, accessories and parts, with an itemised invoice for every line.
- Parcels and gifts: family boxes and extra suitcases, added to a shared load.
- Cars: only after the team confirms that the car and its owner meet Egypt’s import conditions in force at the time.
Moving an apartment from a Dubai tower to Egypt
Moving out of a tower in Dubai Marina, JBR or Business Bay is nothing like moving a ground-floor villa. The lift is shared, building management sets the move-out hours, and truck parking is tight. So the work starts days before loading day, not on it.
The building’s move-out permit
Most Dubai towers and communities require a move-out permit before furniture leaves. It is usually tied to the registered tenancy contract and some documents from the tenant or landlord, and sometimes to a refundable deposit returned once the corridors are checked. Apply early and send us the approved slot so the crew and truck arrive on it. Without the permit, building security can stop the furniture leaving even if every box is packed.
Booking the service lift and protecting the corridors
We ask building management to reserve the service lift for the loading hours and line the lift walls and corridor corners with cardboard and blankets so no scratches are put on your account. Long pieces such as corner sofas and wardrobes are dismantled before they go down, and mirrors and glass leave in wooden crates or double-wall cartons. In towers where a large truck cannot stop at the entrance, we shuttle the goods to the warehouse in a small closed van and load them there.

After packing, every carton gets a number and a room name, and the same number goes on the contents list used for clearance in Egypt. That list is what opens the door to customs facilitation on used personal items, so take it seriously.
Shipping goods and electronics from Dubai to Egypt on pallets
A trader shipping from Dubai cares about two things: that the cartons arrive the way they left, and that they do not get stuck at Egyptian customs over a missing paper. Pallets solve the first; the second starts before the goods leave Dubai.
NAFEZA pre-registration and the ACID number
Commercial shipments to Egypt must be pre-registered by the Egyptian importer on the NAFEZA platform to obtain an ACID number before the goods are shipped. In practice the consignee in Egypt starts the process and you send them the invoice and supplier details. We do not load a commercial shipment without an ACID number, because it will stall on arrival.
Invoice, packing list and certificate of origin
We need a commercial invoice with items, quantities and values, a packing list that matches the carton numbers on the pallets, and a certificate of origin. UAE-origin goods with a certificate of origin can benefit from the customs-duty exemption under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, but Egypt’s 14% VAT and other fees still apply. Many electrical and electronic products need extra approvals in Egypt, and large quantities of mobile phones are restricted, so ask the team about a product before you buy it, not after.

- Heavy cartons go at the bottom, and each pallet is secured with stretch wrap, straps and edge protectors.
- Screens and sensitive devices travel upright with a “this way up” mark.
- Every pallet carries a number that matches the packing list, so the broker in Egypt knows what is inside without random opening.
- Small consignments join a shared truck; large ones take a dedicated truck or a container from Jebel Ali.
Collection areas in Dubai
We collect from any address in Dubai and plan the slot around the type of building: a tower with a shared lift, a villa, or a free-zone warehouse. The areas we collect from most:
- Old Dubai: Deira, Port Saeed, Al Rigga, Al Muraqqabat, Karama, Bur Dubai, Al Mankhool, Al Qusais, Al Nahda, Al Twar.
- Tower districts: Dubai Marina, JBR, Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, Al Sufouh.
- Residential areas: Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Discovery Gardens, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Mirdif, Al Warqa.
- Commercial and free zones: Al Quoz, Ras Al Khor, Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), Dubai Airport Freezone, and the Deira and Al Qusais warehouses.
If you live in Sharjah or Ajman and work in Dubai, our Industrial Area 18 branch may be closer; see the guide to shipping from Sharjah to Egypt.
The route from Dubai to Egypt: road, then ferry
Furniture, personal effects and mixed loads usually go by road with a sea crossing. The truck does not drive into Egypt overland; it crosses the Red Sea on a ferry. The stages are:
- Shipments are consolidated at the warehouse, loaded and the truck is sealed.
- The truck leaves the UAE through Al Ghuwaifat and then Al Batha.
- It crosses Saudi Arabia in customs transit (a sealed load that is not cleared into Saudi Arabia) to a Red Sea port, mainly Duba and sometimes Jeddah, or through Jordan to Aqaba. The road itself is covered in the guide to shipping from Dubai to Saudi Arabia.
- The whole truck boards a ro-ro ferry and comes off in Egypt at Safaga, Hurghada or Nuweiba.
- Inspection and customs clearance take place at the arrival port.
- The truck heads to our warehouse in Egypt, is unloaded, and each consignment goes to its owner in a smaller vehicle.
A shared load leaves when the truck fills; a dedicated truck leaves on the date you choose. If your Dubai handover date is fixed, consider a dedicated truck or short-term warehouse storage until the shared truck moves.
How long does shipping from Dubai to Egypt take?
The times below are approximate, door to door, including clearance, and vary with truck fill, ferry schedules and complete paperwork.
| Destination in Egypt | Road + ferry | Sea (container) | Air |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cairo and Giza (Nasr City, Heliopolis, New Cairo, Maadi, Dokki) | About 10–15 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days |
| 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed | About 10–15 days | 2–3 weeks sailing + clearance | 2–5 days |
| Alexandria | About 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks to Alexandria port + clearance | 2–5 days (Borg El Arab) |
| The Delta (Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig) | About 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks + clearance + inland haul | 2–5 days |
| Canal cities (Ismailia, Port Said, Suez) | About 12–17 days | 2–3 weeks + clearance | 2–5 days |
| Red Sea (Hurghada, Safaga) | Often quicker, near the arrival port | Depends on the port | 2–5 days |
| Upper Egypt (Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan) | About 12–18 days | 2–3 weeks + clearance + inland haul | 2–5 days |
Air freight from Dubai to Egypt
Air freight is the choice when time matters more than cost: documents, samples for a trader waiting on a buying decision, small electronic parts, or clothes and personal things you need the day you land. Shipments fly from Dubai to Cairo International Airport, or to Borg El Arab for Alexandria deliveries, and usually arrive in 2–5 days door to door including clearance.

- Prices start from 15 AED per kg, charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.
- Volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 60×50×50 cm carton counts as 25 kg even if it weighs less.
- Air does not suit furniture; the volume pushes the price up sharply.
- Lithium batteries, liquids and perfumes are restricted on air freight; tell the team before packing.
Container sea freight from Jebel Ali
When the apartment is large or the goods fill a container, sea freight from Jebel Ali makes sense. The container sails to Ain Sokhna via the Red Sea, or to Alexandria, Port Said or Damietta via the Suez Canal, taking roughly 2–3 weeks at sea plus port handling and clearance. A full container can be loaded at your warehouse door, or below the tower if building management allows it to stand there. A 20 ft container starts from 4,050 AED and a 40 ft from 6,750 AED, port to port.
Packing apartment contents and electronics
Your shipment is handled several times: in Dubai, on the ferry, at the Egypt warehouse and in the delivery vehicle. Good packing is what keeps those stages from leaving a mark.
- Sofas and mattresses: bubble wrap, then a fabric or cardboard cover, with the legs protected.
- Wood and wardrobes: dismantled and numbered, with screws and hinges bagged and tied to the same piece.
- Glass, mirrors and screens: double-wall cartons or wooden crates, loaded upright.
- Fridge and washing machine: drained and dried a day before packing, with the washer drum locked.
- Electronics: in their original boxes if you still have them, otherwise foam-lined on all sides.
- Heat and humidity: moisture absorbers go in clothes and book cartons, especially for humid Alexandria and the coast, and candles and cosmetics are kept away from appliances because Upper Egypt summers are hot.
Documents for shipping from Dubai to Egypt
Personal effects and used furniture
A passport copy and a detailed contents list in Arabic or English; for someone returning to live in Egypt, proof that residence abroad has ended helps. Used personal items in reasonable quantities usually receive customs facilitation, while new items or commercial quantities are dutiable. Full exemption is never guaranteed; Egyptian customs decides.
Commercial shipments
An ACID number from NAFEZA registered by the Egyptian importer before shipping, a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin. Food, medicines, cosmetics and many electrical products need extra approvals.
Cars
Egypt’s rules on importing personal cars are strict and change over time, including limits on model year, on who may import and on how payment is made. So the team first checks that the car and its owner meet Egypt’s current conditions, and only then books the shipment. Cars usually go by container or ro-ro by sea.
Prohibited and restricted items
- Prohibited: narcotics, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit goods, gambling equipment, and used tyres for trade.
- Prior permit or restricted: drones, satellite and radio transmitters, some medicines, and large quantities of mobile phones.
- Extra approvals: food, medicines, cosmetics and many electrical products.
Warning: Do not slip a new phone or a still-sealed device into your personal-effects cartons hoping it goes through. New items are treated as goods and can hold up the whole consignment at clearance.
Dubai to Egypt shipping prices start from

|---|---|
| Air freight | From 15 AED per kg (actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher) |
| 20 ft container | From 4,050 AED (port to port) |

Container prices are port to port; door-to-door service, clearance and duties are quoted separately. In every case the final price depends on volume, weight, city, packing and documents.
What decides the cost?
- Volume in cubic metres: for furniture and road shipments, which is why we ask for photos of every room.
- Weight: for air freight and heavy goods.
- Shipping type: shared or dedicated truck; road, container or air.
- Floor and lift in Dubai: a tower with a booked service lift differs from a walk-up.
- Delivery city in Egypt: Cairo is not Aswan, and the floor at the Egyptian end matters too.
- Packing: wooden crates for glass and valuables cost more but protect more.
- Documents and fees: commercial goods attract VAT and other charges.

- The crew arrives on the agreed slot to dismantle, pack, number and write the contents list.
- The shipment goes to the warehouse and is loaded on the truck, into a container, or handed over for air freight.
- You get WhatsApp messages when the truck departs, when it boards the ferry and at clearance in Egypt.
- Delivery to your address in Nasr City or any district, with reassembly of dismantled pieces on request.
Delivery in Nasr City, Cairo’s districts and the rest of Egypt
After clearance at the Red Sea port the truck reaches our warehouse in Egypt, consignments are sorted, and each one leaves in a vehicle suited to its street. That matters in Nasr City in particular: some buildings have no lift, and side streets around the 7th and 10th districts, Makram Ebeid and Abbas El Akkad get crowded, so a smaller vehicle beats a truck.

- Cairo: Nasr City, Heliopolis, New Cairo and the Fifth Settlement, Maadi, Shubra, Mokattam.
- Giza: Dokki, Mohandessin, Haram, Faisal, plus 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed.
- East of Cairo: Obour and 10th of Ramadan, where many traders keep their stores.
- Beyond Cairo: Alexandria, Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig, Damanhour, Kafr El Sheikh, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, Damietta, Hurghada, Safaga, Minya, Beni Suef, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan.
We call the consignee before arrival to fix the time and ask about the floor and lift in advance. Ideally the owner, or someone holding a copy of their passport, is there at delivery to check the carton numbers against the list.

Tips before you ship from Dubai
- Apply for the tower’s move-out permit at least a week ahead; some buildings only allow moves on set days and hours.
- Do not hand the flat back on loading day; leave a day for cleaning and returning the keys.
- Photograph appliances and valuable pieces before packing and keep the photos on your phone.
- Keep a hand bag with documents, medicines and chargers; do not put it in the shipment.
- Traders: get the ACID number from your Egyptian importer before paying the supplier.
- Ask the team about optional insurance if the consignment is high in value.
If your tower flat is lightly furnished, a shared load is usually enough. If your move-out date is fixed and cannot wait, ask about a dedicated truck or warehouse storage until the truck leaves.
